National Aptitude Test in
Architecture (NATA) 2015
The
aesthetic sensitivity test of the National Aptitude Test in Architecture
measures imagination and observation, creativity, communication, and
architectural awareness into the making of architectural marvels like the Lotus
Temple in New Delhi.
Students
can apply online for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA),
conducted by the Council of Architecture. NATA is a qualifying test for
admission to five-year Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) courses in the
country. The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion,
aesthetic sensitivity, and critical thinking ability of the aspirants.
The NATA will be conducted from April 1,
2015 to May 25, 2015 and from June 1. 2015 to August 21, 2015 at
designated centres across the country. Those who desire to take the test should
register well in advance.

Appointments
for participating in the NATA are given on the first-come, first-served basis.

The
NATA 2015 registration form can be filled and submitted on www.nata.in by paying a fee of Rs.1,250 either
through credit/debit card/ net banking or through the computer-generated
challan in any branch of the IC1CI bank
in the country.
Eligibility
Any
persons who have passed SSLC, Class X or equivalent examinations and above can
appear for the NATA. However, only those who have qualified NATA and secured at least 50 per cent marks in 10+2/equivalent examinations with Mathematics
as one of the subjects will only be eligible for admission to B.Arch. NATA
score will be valid for a period of two years.
The
test is held in two parts. A paper-based drawing test and a computer-based
online aesthetic sensitivity test. In the two-hour drawing test, the candidate
has to attempt three questions. Drawing aptitude is judged on the following
aspects.
•Ability
to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in a visually
appealing manner
•Visualizing and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings
•Sense
of perspective drawing
•Combing
and composing given three dimensional elements to form a building or
structural form •Creating interesting two dimensional composition using given
shapes and forms •Creating visual harmony using colours in given composition
•Understanding
of scale and proportions
•Drawing
from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences
In
the aesthetic sensitivity test, the candidate has to an-
swer
40 multiple-choice questions. The test measures perception, imagination and
observation, creativity, and communication, along with architectural awareness
and comprises of
•Visualizing three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawing
•Visualizing different sides of three dimensional objects
•Identifying
commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities
•Analytical
reasoning
•Mental
ability
•Imaginative comprehension and expression
•Architectural
awareness
Those who
achieve a minimum of 40 per cent score in the NATA
(80/200) will be considered as eligible for admission.
Admission
will be carried out by competent authority based on the marks obtained in the
NATA and the qualifying examinations in the ratio of 50:50.
