Post Graduate Diploma Programmes in Journalism
Asian College Of Journalism, Kasturi Centre, 124, Wallajah Road, Chennai – 600002 has invited applications for admission to the Post Graduate Diploma Programmes in Journalism with specialization in Print Media Stream, Television Media Stream, New Media Stream and Radio Stream. College/University Graduates in any discipline and students awaiting results of Degree examination are eligible to apply.
Applicants short-listed after a careful assessment of applications, will have to take an Entrance Examination to be held in late May 2009 at Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Kochi, New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram and possibly in other cities, depending on the number of applications received from a particular region and abroad.
The Entrance Examination will have 2 parts. One Part will be designed to test English language skills and facility of the applicant and the other Part to test the awareness of current affairs and general knowledge. It will also test the candidates' writing ability and assess their analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Applicants from India who do well in the entrance examination will be invited to an interview at the College in mid-June.
Application form can be submitted 'Online' at / 'Downloaded' from the concerned link at http://www.asianmedia.org.in/admissions/application.asp and completed. Applicants are required to indicate, the media stream they wish to specialize in.
Filled up Online/Downloaded Application should reach Admissions, Asian College of Journalism, Kasturi Centre, 124, Wallajah Road, Chennai 600 002, India latest by April 30,2009 along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 1000/- taken in favour of 'Media Development Foundation', payable at Chennai with Name and address of applicant written on the back of the DD and 2 Passport sized photos. Application Form will be processed only on receipt of the Demand draft. Final Results will be announced in the fourth week of June 2009. Tuition fee for Print Media/Radio/New Media Stream is Rs. 200,000/-. It is Rs. 275,000/- for Television Media Stream.
The ACJ offer scholarships on a merit-cum-means basis to students seeking, and qualifying for, them. The full and partial scholarships cover tuition fees and, in special cases, living expenses.
