National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) Examination (II), 2009.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has notified the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) Examination (II), 2009.

The examination, for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force Wings of NDA for 124th Course and Naval Academy for 44th 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course commencing from 30th June, 2010, will be held on 30th August, 2009. Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1991 and not later than 1st January, 1994 are eligible.

For Army Wing of NDA, applicants should have passed 12th Class of 10+2 pattern of School Education/equivalent conducted by a State Education Board/University. For admission to the Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA and for 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course of Naval Academy, applicant should have passed 12th Class of the10+2 pattern of School Education/equivalent with Physics and Mathematics, conducted by a State Education Board/University. Those appearing in 12th Class under 10+2 pattern of School Education/equivalent can also apply.

Applicant must be physically fit according to the physical standards as given in Commission's Notice.

The approximate vacancies will be 335 (195 for the Army, 39 for Navy, 66 for the Air Force and 35 for the Executive Branch of Naval Academy). A candidate is required to specify in the Application Form, the Services for which he wishes to be considered in the order of his preference.

Application can be submitted in the Common Application Form of the Commission which can be purchased from designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (as per list in Appendix-III of the Notice), against cash payment of Rs.20/-.

Examination fee of Rs.50/- is to be paid by all applicants (except SC/ST) through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only which has to be affixed on the application form in the space provided therein.

Completed applications must reach 'Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069', by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 13th April, 2009. In respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in the Notice, the last date for receipt of applications by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 20th April, 2009.

The Examination consists of 2 papers each of 2 ½ hours duration. Paper 1- Mathematics carries 300 marks and Paper 2 - General Ability Test carries 600 marks. Questions will be objective type. Detailed syllabus is given at http://www.upsc.gov.in

Admission to the courses will be made based on the results of the written examination followed by intelligence and personality test by the Services Selection Board for  candidates who qualify in the written examination.
