The Common Research Entrance Test (CRET) will be held at Varanasi from 9 a.m to 11 a.m on 12.07.2009 (Sunday). The faculty and main disciplines in which CRET will be held are as follows:

Admission to Ph.D Programme in the main disciplines marked with (*), during 2009-10 session, shall be from CRET exempted categories only.
Admission to following disciplines shall be open only to those students who have qualified GATE and possess valid GATE Score card or they are NET-Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)/ NET-Lecturer Ship (LS) qualified. Thus no CRET shall be conducted for admission to following disciplines.
Engineering & Technology: (Disciplines in which admission will be through NET-JRF/ NET-LS /GATE only) : Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Biochemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Management, Materials Science & Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Pharmaceutics, Systems Engineering.
To provide an opportunity for inter-disciplinary research, a candidate has an option to be admitted to an allied discipline by appearing in the CRET of related main discipline. Details about Main Discipline - Allied Discipline Combinations are given in Part B of the Information Bulletin.
The details about all the Programmes are available in the Information Bulletin which can be downloaded from www.bhu.ac.in. Candidates appearing in the final year of the qualifying examination may also apply but results should be declared before the start of counseling date. Reservations will be as per Government of India rules.
Information Bulletin and Application Form can be obtained only from the Entrance Test Cell, Office of the Controller of Examinations, BHU, Varanasi - 221 005, from 11 am to 3 pm on working days on cash payment of Rs.50/-. The last date for sale of application forms from the office counter is 20.06.2009
They can be obtained by registered post by sending (i) a Crossed MICR Demand Draft/Banker's Cheque for Rs.100/-, of any Nationalized/Scheduled Bank, drawn in favour of the Controller of Examinations, Banaras Hindu University, payable at Varanasi (ii) a self-addressed unstamped envelope of the size 32cm x 26cm and (iii) a written request mentioning the Name and Postal address of the Applicant and details of Crossed MICR Demand Draft/Banker's Cheque. The last date for receipt of requisition for sending the application forms by Registered Post is 08.06.2009.
