Application forms and prospectus are being distributed through the District level LBS facilitation centres. For getting forms, one should hand over a challan receipt of Rs. 410 (Rs. 210/- for SC / ST) from the selected branches of a nationalized bank in the name of LBS centre. There will be separate application forms for General and SC / ST students. Duly filled in application form along with attested copies of relevant certificates should be submitted to the District level LBS facilitation centres on or before 20th July 2009.
Besides this, register online through the website www.lbscentre.org by clicking on the link BEd admission – 2009. Detailed instruction will be available in the website. Application number and security key has to be utilized for online registration. Options for BEd subjects / streams and colleges can be registered through the website www.lbscentre.org. Candidate can register all the available options if they desire so. Rank list will be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained in part III subjects in qualifying examination including weightage marks for PG Degree, NSS / NCC certificate at the Degree level. Based on rank, the centralized seat allotment process will be done through single window system. The personal and academic details of applicants and provisional ranks in opted streams will be published in the website www.lbscentre.org for verification.
Applicants shall approach the LBS facilitation centres in case of any complaint. Subsequently final rank list will be published. Trial allotment will be done before the first allotment. During the trial allotment, one can revise options if he/she desires so.
Eligibility
Admission to merit seats is open to Keralites. Those who have passed BA / BSc degree examination under 10 + 2 + 3 pattern with one main subject and two subsidiary subjects with minimum 45% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply. Double or Triple main candidates or who have passed degree examinations in vocational or specialized courses are also eligible for admission. Such applicants and those who have passed their qualifying examination from universities outside Kerala should submit eligibility /equivalency certificate.SEBC applicants will get relaxation of 3% marks and OEC will get 5% concession in the qualifying degree examination in order to apply. SC/ ST applicants require only pass marks in graduation. There is no upper age limit for BEd admission.
The optional subjects for the BEd course should be the same as the one which the student has selected as main subject for graduation. Eligibility for different BEd optional subjects are as follows.
• BEd English – BA Degree with English Languages and Literature / Functional English / Communicative English with 45% marks in aggregate or BA / BSc with 50% marks for part I English and not less than 50% marks for Masters Degree in English language and Literature.
• BEd Malayalam - BA Degree with Malayalam Language and Literature with 45% marks in aggregate or BA / BSc with 50% of marks for part II Malayalam and not less than 50% marks for Masters Degree in Malayalam language and Literature.
• BEd Hindi – BA Degree with Hindi Language and Literature with 45 % marks in aggregate or BA / BSc with 50% marks for Part II Hindi and not less than 50% marks for Masters degree in Hindi language and Literature.
• BEd Arabic – BA Degree with Arabic Language and Literature with 45% marks or BA / BSc with 50% marks for Part II Arabic and not less than 50% marks for Masters degree in Arabic language and Literature.
• BEd Tamil – BA degree with Tamil Language and Literature with 45% marks in aggregate or BA / BSc with 50% marks for Part II Tamil and not less than 50% marks for Masters degree in Tamil language and Literature.
• BEd Sanskrit – BA Degree with Sanskrit Language and Literature with 45% marks in aggregate or BA / BSc with 50% marks for part II Sanskrit and not less than 50% marks for Masters Degree in Sanskrit language and Literature.
• BEd Urdu – BA degree with Urdu Language and literature with 45% marks in aggregate or BA/ BSc with 50% marks for part II Urdu and not less than 50% marks for Masters degree in Urdu language and Literature.
• BEd Mathematics – BSc degree with Mathematics / Statistics / Applied Statistics as main with 45% marks in aggregate. Applicants with Statistics / Applied Statistics should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects.
• BEd Physical Science – BSc with Physics / Chemistry / Polymer Chemistry / Geology / Petrochemicals / Biochemistry / Industrial Chemistry main with 45% marks in aggregate.
• BEd Natural Science – BSc with Botany / Zoology / Biochemistry / Plant Science / Home Science (with zoology or Botany as subsidiaries) / Aquaculture (with biochemistry and zoology as subsidiaries) / Biotechnology / Microbiology with 45% marks in aggregate.
• BEd Geography – Bachelors degree with Geography as main subject under part III with 45% marks in aggregate.
• BEd Social Science – BA with History / Arabic and Islamic History main with 45% marks in aggregate or BA with Geography / Politics / Economics / Sociology / Psychology / Philosophy / West Asian studies under Part III and with 45% marks in aggregate.
• BEd Commerce – MCom with not less than 45% marks alone are eligible for admission.
• BEd Information Technology – MCA / MSc Computer Science / MSc Electronics with minimum of 45% marks.
• BEd Computer Science - MCA / MSc Computer Science / MSc Electronics with a minimum of 45% marks.
Applicants who are eligible for admission to more than one BEd course will have to mark the courses to which they wish to be considered in the application form.
The rank list for admission to the BEd courses will be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained in Part III subjects in the qualifying examination including weightage mark. 15 marks will be given as weightage to first class PG degree holders and 10 marks for Second class PG holders and 5 marks for Third class PG degree holders in the same subject for which admission is sought . Weightage marks for NCC / NSS certificates at the degree level is 10 .
Separate Rank list for different streams / subjects and community wise category lists will be published.
In private self financing colleges 50% of the seats under Government Quota will be filled up on the basis of merit by following reservation policy of the State Government.
Fees : Tuition fee for BEd course at the Government and Aided training colleges is Rs. 1500/- only. In private self financing colleges the tuition fee is Rs. 29000/-.
