Nursing, Pharmacy, Paramedical Admissions 2011
LBS Centre for Science and Technology, on behalf of the Director of
Medical Education , Kerala, has invited applications for admission to
the to Professional Degree Courses 2011 in Nursing, Pharmacy &
Paramedical streams.
Admission to (i) Bachelor of Science-Nursing (B.Sc Nursing) (ii)
Bachelor of Science -Medical Laboratory Technology [B.Sc (M.L.T)] (iii)
Bachelor of Science - Optometry [B.Sc(Optometry)] (iv) Bachelor of
Physiotherapy (B.P.T) (v) Bachelor in Audiology and Speech Language
Pathology (B.A.S.L.P) (vi) Bachelor of Cardio Vascular Technology
(B.C.V.T) (vii) Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) and (viii) Doctor of
Pharmacy (Pharm.D) courses will be made on the basis of merit as
assessed in the rank list prepared based on the marks obtained in the
qualifying examination(s), after having the normalization procedure
notified in the Prospectus.
Only Indian citizens are eligible for admission to professional courses
unless otherwise notified. Holders of Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)
cards/ OCI (Overseas Citizen of India), will also be treated at par
with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission. However,
PIO/OCI candidates will not be eligible for any kind of reservation.
Candidates seeking admission to the courses will be categorised as
Keralite and Non-Keralite.
(i) Keralite: A candidate of Kerala origin will be categorized as a
‘Keralite’. Children of All India Service (AIS) officers
(Non-Keralites) allotted to Kerala cadre are deemed to be ‘Keralites’
as perG.O.(Rt) No.822/08/H.Edn dated 29.05.2008. But they will not be
eligible for Communal/Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation.
(ii) Non-Keralite: A candidate who is not of ‘Kerala origin’ but who
has undergone the qualifying course in Kerala, and who is the
son/daughter of the following categories of Non-Keralite parents will
be categorized as Non-Keralite:
(a) Employees of the Government of India and defence personnel posted
to Kerala.
(b) Employees, who are serving the Government of Kerala, subject to the
condition that the employees have served in the state of Kerala or for
the state of Kerala, for a minimum period of two years.
Non-Keralite candidates will be considered against ‘State Merit’ seats
only and will not be eligible for Communal/Special/Persons with
Disabilities reservation.
Certificates to prove Nativity
(a) Keralites: In order to prove that a candidate is an Indian Citizen
of Kerala origin for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission
he/she has to produce one of the following certificates:
(i) The true copy of relevant page of Secondary School Leaving
Certificate showing the place of birth in Kerala of the candidate.
(ii) The true copy of the relevant page of the Secondary School Leaving
Certificate showing place of birth in Kerala of either of the parents
of the candidate with corroborative certificate to establish the
relationship between the parent and the candidate. (iii) The true copy
of the relevant page of the Passport of the candidate, issued by the
Government of India, showing place of birth in Kerala or of either of
the parents of the candidate showing place of birth in Kerala with
corroborative certificate to establish the relationship between the
parent and the candidate. (iv) A certificate of birth from the
authority competent to register birth
(Panchayat/Municipality/Corporation) showing the candidate’s or either
of the parents (in which case corroborative certificate to establish
the relationship between the parent and the candidate is necessary)
place of birth in Kerala., to be issued by a competent officer of the
registering authority. (v) A certificate from the Village Officer /
Tahsildar to show that the andidate or his / her father /mother was
born in Kerala (this is to be obtained in the body of the application
form). (vi) A Certificate of residence from the Village Officer/
Tahsildar to the effect that the candidate hasbeen a resident of Kerala
state for a period of five years within a period of twelve years (to be
obtained in the body of the application form) (vii) A certificate showing school studies in Kerala from Std VIII to
XII obtained from the head(s) of the educational institution(s) in
Kerala in the case of candidates who have undergone school studies in
Kerala to prove that the candidate has undergone his/her studies in the
schools in Kerala from standards VIII to XII. This certificate is to be
obtained in the body of the application form itself.
(viii) A certificate from the competent authority showing that the
parent of the candidate is an All India Service Officer allotted to
Kerala cadre.
(b) Non-Keralites: In the case of Non-Keralites, a 'Certificate to be
issued by the Employer' is to be obtained in the body of the
application from the Head of the organisation, where the candidate’s
parent (employee) is serving, and the ‘Certificate showing School
studies in Kerala for Standards XI & XII’ is to be obtained from
the Head of institution where the candidate underwent his/her
qualifying course in Kerala to satisfy the nativity condition under the
sub-clause 6.1(ii).
Academic Eligibility:B.Sc.
Nursing, B.Sc. (M.L.T), B.Sc. (Optometry), B.C.V.T, BPT Courses:
Applicant should have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board
of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognized
equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology separately, and 50% marks
in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together. In addition, for
admission to B.P.T Course, candidates should have studied English as a
subject at 12th standard/Plus Two levels. Those who have passed the
B.Sc. Degree (Three year course) examination with Physics, Chemistry,
Zoology, Botany or Biochemistry as Main, and any one or two of the
above subjects as Subsidiaries, with 50% marks for Main &
Subsidiaries taken together, subject to the condition that they have
passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognized
as equivalent thereto with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional
subjects are eligible for admission to B Sc (Nursing), and B.Sc.(M.L.T)
courses.
B.A.S.L.P. Course: Higher Secondary Examinations of the Board of Higher
Secondary Education, Kerala, or Examinations recognized equivalent
thereto with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Mathematics/
Computer Science/ Statistics/ Electronics/Pshycology put together.
B.Pharm. Course:r Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations
recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in
Biology/Mathematics/Biotechnology/Computer Science separately and 50%
marks in Physics, Chemistry andBiology /Mathematics /Biotechnology/
Computer Science put together.
Pharm.D. Course: Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations
recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology/
Mathematics separately and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and
Biology/Mathematics put together OR D.Pharm. Course with a minimum of
50% marks in D.Pharm examination from an institution approved by
Pharmacy Council of India under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act (20 % of
the total seats is reserved for candidates with D.Pharm. qualification)
Academic eligibility should be satisfied as on the last date for
submission of academic data.
For all the courses, candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally
Backward Classes, with a total annual family income not exceeding Rs.
4.5 lakhs, will have a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying
examination. They need only 45% marks in the case of Mathematics/
Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science and 45% marks in the case of
optional subjects put together. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled
Tribes candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination. The
relaxation of marks in the qualifying examination extended to SEBC
candidates only will be applicable to OEC candidates even if they are
allotted against the unavailed seats of SC/ST quota.
No rounding off of the percentage of marks to the nearest whole number
is permitted. Those who have appeared for the Higher Secondary or
equivalent examination will be permitted to submit the application.
However, they should attain the prescribed qualification and submit
copies of mark list before the last date prescribed for registration of
academic data.
Applicants should have completed 17 years of age as on the 31st
December 2011. No relaxation in the minimum age will be allowed. There
is no upper age limit except for candidates under service quota. The
upper age limit for candidates under service quota will be 45 years for
B.Sc. Nursing and 46 for B.Sc.(M.L.T) as on 31.12.2011.
Application for admission to all the courses has to be registered
online through a single application. The provision for applying online
is available at the websites www.lbcentre.org and www.lbskerala.com.
Submission of more than one application by a candidate will lead to
rejection of the candidature.
The application fee is Rs. 500/- for General candidates and Rs. 200/-
for SC / ST candidates. Candidates have to remit the application fee
latest by 14th May, 2011, at any one of the branches of Federal Bank in
Kerala, before submission of application at the website.
On payment of the prescribed fee at the Bank, the Applicant will
receive a receipt which will carry a unique Application Number &
Security key. The candidate should ensure confidentiality of his/her
security key to protect his/her interest.
Prospectus can be obtained from any one of the Facilitation Centres of
LBS Centre for Science & Technology on production of this receipt.
The list of facilitation centres is given at Annexure XI of the
Prospectus which is available for download at www.lbscentre.org and
www.lbskerala.com.
There will be two stages for the submission of application, both of
which are mandatory. Candidates have to go through both the stages as
per the time schedule, to complete the process of registration.
Stage I is the ‘Online Registration’ of personal data and submission of
Application form (Printout) of the candidates.
Online Registration of personal data can be done at www.lbscentre.org
or www.lbskerala.com latest by 18th May, 2011.
Applicant has to do the registration using Application Number, Security
Key and soft copy of the recently taken Passport Size photo in JPEG
format with size not more than 20 KB. On entering the site, the
applicant must click the link ‘Online Registration and Application Form
(Stage 1)’. He/She will have to initially login to the web site using
the ‘Application Number’ and ‘Security Key’. The candidate will have to
create and submit a ‘Password’ which must be made up of numerals or
alphabets or a combination of both. On successful submission of the
password, the candidate will be taken to a Home page. Then he/she has
to upload softcopy of his/her Photograph and then enter and ‘SAVE’ the
personal data. A ‘Registration ID’ will be generated by the computer on
completing the online registration. On completion of online
registration, the candidate has to take a printout, which is the
Application form.
‘Keralite’ candidates alone are eligible for Communal Reservation.
Community and Income Certificates are to be obtained in the body of the
Application Form (Printout) for claiming reservation under SEBC quota
and OEC claim for Government Seats. For claiming reservation under
SC/ST, for Govt. seats, Community Certificate has to be obtained in the
body of the Application Form (Printout). Candidates should produce
copies of the Certificates from the authority concerned in support of
any special reservation claimed by them. Medical Certificate from the
District Medical Board as stipulated has to be submitted for claiming
reservation under ‘Persons with Disabilities’.
The completed Application form, along with the necessary certificates
obtained in the form/ attested copies of certificates to prove all
personal claims and copy of Hall ticket of Higher Secondary/equivalent
examination (for appeared candidates) /mark list(s) of Higher
Secondary/equivalent examination (if passed), should be sent to ‘The
Director, LBS Centre for Science & Technology, Extra Police Road,
Nandavanam, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala – 695033
’, so as to reach there latest by 24th May, 2011.
Stage II Involves the forwarding of downloaded Academic facing Sheet
duly signed, along with attested copies of mark list(s). This stage has
to be carried out after receipt of mark list of Higher
Secondary/equivalent examination and as per the time schedule to be
announced later.
The Academic Facing Sheet can be downloaded from the ‘Home Page’ of the
candidate from the website www.lbscentre.org/www.lbskerala.com by login
using Application number, Security Key and Password. The duly signed
Academic Facing Sheet along with attested copies of mark list(s) should
be sent to ‘The
Director, LBS Centre for Science & Technology, Extra Police Road,
Nandavanam, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram Kerala – 695033’
, to
reach there on or before the last date prescribed.
