Fellowships in Classical Tamil 2011
In order to promote scholarship in Classical Tamil, the Central Institute of Classical Tamil proposes to award Post-doctoral Fellowships & Doctoral Fellowships to eligible candidates. The details are as follows.
Post-doctoral Fellowships:-
i) The Post-doctoral Fellowship includes award of Rs. 18,000/- per month for 2 years with a contingency grant of Rs. 30,000/- per annum.
ii) Ph.D. Degree holders who are interested to work in the areas of Language, Linguistics, or allied disciplines such as Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archeology, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore, Epigraphy, Philosophy, etc. are eligible to apply.
iii) Preference will be given to those who are working on topics related to Tamil Grammatical and Literary Traditions, Comparative Literature, Comparative Dravidian, Language Typology and Translation with special emphasis to the classical period.
iv) The candidate should not have exceeded 40 years of age as on 15th July 2011. Age relaxation will be allowed for OBC candidates (3 years) and SC/ST candidates (5 years)
v) The selection of candidates will be made through a written test followed by an interview by a duly constituted committee.
vi) The selected candidates should undertake their research works in the CICT campus only.
vii) Evidences for Age, Community and Educational Qualifications should be enclosed along with the application form without fail.
viii) Scholars who are in regular employment need not apply.

Doctoral Fellowships:-
i) The Doctoral Fellowship includes Rs. 12,000/- per month for 2 years with a contingency grant of Rs.12,000/- per annum.
ii) The candidate should have registered for Ph.D. in any recognized University or Institute. The evidence of Ph.D. registration should be enclosed.
iii) Postgraduate Degree holders with first or high second class in Language, Linguistics, or allied disciplines such as Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archeology, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore, Epigraphy, Philosophy, etc. are eligible to apply.
Candidates belonging to SC/ST category will be given relaxation of 5 marks.
iv) Preference will be given to Ph.D. registrants who are working on topics related to Tamil Grammatical and Literary Traditions, Comparative Literature, Comparative Dravidian, Language Typology and Translation with special emphasis to the classical period.
