PG Diploma in Advanced Wildlife Management, Admissions 2011-2012
Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, has invited applications for admission to Post Graduate Diploma Course in Advanced Wildlife Management for the Academic Year 2011-12.
Eligibility:
The course is meant for in-service Indian Forest Service and State Forest Service Officers of the rank of Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF)/Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) and equivalent. Candidates should possess a background of Forestry training with a minimum of Bachelor's degree in any of the natural sciences.
Foreign nationals with forestry background at equivalent levels are also eligible for admission to the course, provided they have adequate knowledge of English.
Both Indian and Foreign candidates should not be more than 45 years of age as on September 1, 2011. They should be fit to withstand the arduous outdoor training programme.
Admission to the course for Indian as well as foreign candidates will be on a “first come-first serve” basis. The total intake for the course will be 20 participants including 5 foreign nationals.
Duration:
The duration of the course is 10 months commencing from 1st September 2011 to 30th June 2012. The course is divided into 4 sub-components as follows:

2 Tools and Techniques for Conserving Wildlife 1st October to 31st December
3 Advanced Wildlife Management Practices 1st January to 21st April
4 Integrated Wildlife Management Planning 22nd April to 30th June
A candidate can take up all 4 sub-components in a sequential manner and qualify for the award of PG Diploma, subject to achieving necessary standards/competency level.
A candidate, alternatively, could register for one or more sub-components as a lateral entrant, depending upon the vacancy in the main Diploma Course (20 seat capacity) as also upon his/ her interest and time available.
Sub-component 3, includes a Wildlife Management Overseas Study Tour, which shall be open only to regular diploma participants, who opt for the entire 10 months course.
