Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test, SNAP 2011
Symbiosis International University, Pune has invited applications for the Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test, a common and mandatory written test for the admission to all the Post-Graduate Institutes of Symbiosis International University.
SNAP is only the first step for admission. In addition, a candidate has to undergo the selection process of the desired Institute to qualify for the admission to the Post-Graduate programme of that Institute.

In addition to SNAP Test, there will be additional test for non-MBA Courses at SIMC-MMC (For Pune campus only) and SIG-M. Sc (Geoinformatics). These tests would enable admission for students selecting the MMC course of SIMC (Pune) and for the MSc (Geoinformatics) course of SIG. However in addition to this, those appearing for SNAP Test are also eligible for SIMC-MMC (For Pune campus only) and SIG-MSc (Geoinformatics).
Candidates in addition to appearing for SNAP Test must apply to the individual institute as per their choice.
Test date and Centres:
SNAP/SIMC-(MMC) / SIG (MSc- Geoinformatics) Test will be conducted from 2 pm to 4 pm on December 18, 2011 (Sunday) at Agra, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kolhapur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Noida, Patna, Pune, Surat, Vashi and Visakhapatanam.
Test Structure:
The tests will have objective type questions with each question having 4 responses. Candidate should choose an appropriate response and mark the same using Blue or Black ball point pen only. Each wrong answer attracts 25% negative marks.
SNAP Test will have questions in 4 sections carrying a total of 180 marks. (i) General English: Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability (40 marks) (ii) Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency (40), General Awareness: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Business Scenario (40) and Analytical & Logical reasoning (60).
Test for SIMC-MMC (For Pune campus only) will also have Questions in 4 sections carrying 180 marks. (i) General English: Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability (40 marks) (ii) Media & Culture (40) (iii) Current affairs and Contemporary issues (40) and (iv) Analytical & Logical Reasoning (60).
The Test for SIG-M Sc (Geoinformatics) will have 3 sections carrying a maximum of 150 marks. (i) General Studies: General Science, General Geography, Current Affairs and General Knowledge (70 marks) (ii) General English: Reading Comprehension, Grammar and vocabulary (50 marks) and (iii) Logical Reasoning (30 marks)
Registration for SNAP:
Stage I of the admission process is the registration for SNAP Test. SNAP Test registration is to be done at www.snaptest.org. The facility will be available till 23rd November, 2011. Applicant should click on ‘New Users Registration’ and after reading the terms and conditions, if agreeable, click on the 'I Agree' button to accept the Terms and proceed to fill in the details requested on the page displayed and then click on ‘Save and Continue’, to choose a password and the hint questions that will be asked if the password is forgotten. Applicant should then click on ‘Save and Continue’, to register and the screen will display the SNAP 2011 ID of the applicant. After successful registration, the applicant will get an email containing the SNAP ID and SNAP password. This SNAP ID has to be used for all future correspondence with the Symbiosis Test Secretariat Office. This SNAP ID and SNAP password can be used to enter the online application form to make any modification to the details provided. Any Changes in the online application form may be made only up to the closing date of Registration (Wednesday, 23rd November 2011).
Candidates should then go to the 'Click here to Continue' link that appears along with SNAP 2011 ID to proceed for make payment of the fee for SNAP Test which is Rs. 1550/-.
Four payment modes are offered to candidates.
(i) Payment through Cash: In case fee is being paid by Cash, applicant has to print the ‘Axis Bank Challan’ from SNAP website which is in 3 parts. The amount of Rs. 1550/- has to be paid in cash at any Axis Bank branch. The bank will return two stamped parts of the ‘Axis Bank Challan’ to the candidate. Candidate need to keep Student copy as payment receipt. He/She has to sign the stamped ‘Symbiosis copy’ of the ‘Axis Bank Challan’ and the same is to be sent to Symbiosis Test Secretariat, Symbiosis International University, Lavale, Mulshi, Pune-12115.
(ii) Payment through Demand Draft: If the candidate wishes to make payment through DD, the candidate should first obtain a Demand Draft for Rs. 1550/- from any Nationalized Bank in favour of ‘Symbiosis Test Secretariat’, payable at Pune. The details of the DD are to be filled in the DD payment option in SNAP website. A print out of ‘Payment Advice’ form for DD has to be taken and send it along with the DD to the Symbiosis Test Secretariat, Symbiosis International University, Lavale, Mulshi, Pune-12115. The photocopy of the Demand Draft may be kept by the candidate for further references.
(iii) Online Payment through Credit Card: Candidates can pay the fee online, after the registration, using Master or Visa card, by following the instructions on the SNAP website.
(iv) Online Payment through Net Banking: Candidates may transfer SNAP test fee to Symbiosis Test Secretariat account after the registration, using Net Banking option too.
Payment facility closes on November 25, 2011 (Friday)
The University will make the best efforts to send prospectus at the earliest possible time. Candidates are advised to contact the University for Prospectus and any queries.
Admit Card:
SNAP Test Admit Card should be printed from the SNAP website between 6th December 2011 and 18th December, 2011. The Test centre and its address will be printed on the Admit Card. Candidates should bring the Admit card with the Photo Id Proof to the Test Centre. An acceptable photo identity includes Passport, Driving license, College / Institute identity card, Credit card with photograph, Voter ID Card or Pan Card. At the time of the written test, it is mandatory to produce photo identity as mentioned above. Symbiosis Authorized Person will verify and authenticate the Admit Card against the photo-id. Authenticated Admit Card is an important document without which the candidate will not be permitted to appear for further selection processes of the institutes. If Admit card is lost, no duplicate Admit Card will be issued. It should be preserved till admission process is over.
Result:
SNP Test result will be announced on 12th January, 2012 (Thursday). SNAP Score will remain valid for admission to all Post Graduate Programmes of Symbiosis International University for the academic year of 2012-13.
Institute Registration:
Stage 2 of the admission process is the submission of Application fee to the desired constituent institute of Symbiosis International University. Before applying to an institute a candidate must register for the SNAP 2011. For registration and to submit the application fees the applicant may visit the website of the desired institute and pay the fee of Rs.1000/- as Institute's Application fee to the institute/s in which candidate seeking to take admission. The SNAP website allows a facility for online payment for application fee along with the online payment of SNAP fee. Candidate can also make payment from the institute website. Candidate can apply for more than one institute.
Selection process of the chosen institute:
This is the third stage of the selection process. Details regarding section process of Institutes are given in the SNAP 2011 prospectus. Applicant may contact the respective institute also for details.
