Applications have been invited from Indian citizens for admission to PhD Program scheduled to commence from December’ 2011 in the following schools of basic sciences at National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar:

1. School of Biological Sciences:
(1) Bioinformatics
(2) Cancer Biology
(3) Cell Biology
(4) Plant biology
(5) Molecular & Developmental Genetics
(6) Molecular Microbiology
(7) Neurogenetics

2. School of Mathematical Sciences
(1) Organic Chemistry
(2) Inorganic Chemistry
(3) Physical Chemistry
3. School of Chemical Sciences

Eligibility:
Eligibility for admission to Biological Sciences is 60% marks in Masters in any branches of Biology, life sciences and bioinformatics. Student with masters in any branches of natural or computer sciences with interest in pursuing career in biology can also apply for the course.

For applying to Chemical Sciences, candidates have to possess 60% marks in MSc or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Physics, Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, any one of the subject. For admission to Mathematical Sciences 60% marks is needed in MSc or equivalent degree in Mathematics.

Apart from the above qualification, the candidates should have qualified the CSIR-NET/ GATE / NBHM or equivalent examination valid for the current year in the relevant area of research. UGC-CSIR JRF qualified candidates can avail the fellowship directly from UGC or CSIR, whereas, students selected for PhD program based on GATE scores, are eligible for fellowship from NISER.

Age: Not more than 28 years on December 01, 2011 (Born on / after 1st December, 1983)

Names of the short-listed candidates will be available in the Website

Test / Interview will be held on the given dates
Physics-12th & 13th December, 2011
Chemistry-14th & 15th December, 2011
Biology-12th & 13th December, 2011

The list of selected candidates will be put up in the website on December 21, 2011.
The PhD registration will be done on December 26, 2011.
