17th All India Entrance Examination for Admission (AIEEA-UG-2012)
The 17th All India Entrance Examination for Admission (AIEEA-UG-2012) to the 15% seats in Bachelor Degree Programmes In Agriculture & Allied Science Subjects (other than Veterinary Science) In Agricultural Universities and 100% Seats In Dairy Technology at NDRI Karnal and for the award of National Talent Scholarships (NTS0 for Academic Session 2012-13, conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), will be held at 39 centres across the country from 10 am to 12.30 pm on 14th April 2012 (Saturday).
The Examination Centres include Anand, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Bikaner, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Dharwad, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hisar, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Jabalpur, Jammu, Karnal, Kolkata, Kota, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Mannuthy, Mohanpur, Nagpur, Palampur, Pantnagar, Patna, Port Blair, Pune, Pusa, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Solan, Srinagar, Tirupati, Udaipur and Varanasi.
National Talent Scholarships (NTS) are awarded based on the AIEEA-UG examination to all those candidates who take admission outside their state of domicile.
Admission to 11 Bachelor Degree Programmes of four years duration in (i) Agriculture (ii) Horticulture (iii) Fisheries (iv) Forestry (v) Home Science (vi) Sericulture (vii) Biotechnology (viii) Agricultural Engineering (ix) Dairy Technology (x) Food Science and (xi) Agricultural Marketing & Cooperation etc. will be given to Indian Nationals based on merit-rank in this All India Entrance Examination.
For the purpose of Entrance Examination, the 11 Degree Programmes have been categorized into two Streams, namely Stream-A: Agriculture/Biology and Stream-B: Mathematics. An applicant can exercise option only for one Stream at the time of submitting the application. The option once exercised cannot be changed subsequently.
STREAM-A (Agriculture/Biology): Candidates under this stream can seek admission for Bachelor Degree Programmes in Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Forestry, Home Science, Sericulture, Food Science and Biotechnology.
STREAM-B (Mathematics): Candidates under this stream can seek admission for Bachelor Degree Programmes in Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Marketing & Cooperation and also in Forestry, Food Science and Biotechnology at some of the Agricultural Universities provided Biology has been one of the subjects during 10+2 examination.
Eligibility: Applicants should be Indian Nationals of at least 17 years of age but not more than 23 years as on 31.08.2012. They should have been born between 1.9.1989 and 1.9.1995. For SC/ST/PH categories, the upper age limit would be relaxable up to 5 years.
Applicant must have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination within scope and standard found to be equivalent to the Senior Secondary Examination of an Indian Board/ University after a period of 12 years of study, the last two years of such 10+2 examination having papers in Physics, Chemistry and any one of Biology/ Mathematics/Agriculture (Intermediate with Agriculture and having not studied Physics and Chemistry as separate subjects may also be eligible for admission in some SAUs in State of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh only) /Home Science (Intermediate with Agriculture would be eligible for admission in limited Aus). Besides, for admission in the Universities specifically located in non-Hindi speaking areas, candidate must have passed English as a core subject in 10+2 examination.
Those appearing in the qualifying examination can also apply but would be required to submit evidence of having satisfied the conditions latest by the counseling date. Candidates opting for Stream-A in the entrance examination should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Agriculture/Home Science while those opting for Stream-B should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Examination: The Entrance Examination will be conducted in two streams with Stream-A comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Agriculture/Biology and Stream-B comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Questions for Physics and Chemistry will be common for both streams. Paper for ‘Stream-A’ will carry questions on Biology and Agriculture of which the candidate has to attempt/opt/choose only one subject, either Biology or Agriculture. ‘Stream-B’ paper will have questions from Mathematics.
Question paper will be in English and Hindi.
Question paper will have 180 multiple-choice objective type questions, with 60 questions from Physics (numbered from 1-60), 60 questions from Chemistry (61-120) and 60 questions from Agriculture/ Biology/ Mathematics (121-180).
Each question will have four options. Candidate has to choose the correct answer and mark in the OMR answer sheet by shading/darkening the corresponding circle/bubble against the serial number of the question with HB pencil or black ball-point pen.
Marking Scheme: The maximum marks for the paper is 720. Each correct answer will earn four marks. For each incorrect answer one mark will be deducted from the total score. Question with no response indicated will not be awarded any mark. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect answer and will invite negative marking.
Application: Application can be submitted either using the OMR application form attached with the Information Bulletin AIEEA-UG 2012 (Offline) or it can be submitted online.

The last date for receipt of Application from the candidates residing in remote areas such as Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, J&K, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub-division of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Island and Lakshadweep, is February 22, 2012. The result of the AIEEA-UG-2012 is likely to be declared around third week of May 2012 and will be placed on ICAR website.
Based on the overall merit-rank, the candidate is allowed to take admission in a specific degree programme at an Agricultural University as per the choice of the candidate and the availability of seat at that merit-rank through a process of counseling as explained in Clause 9 of the Information Bulleting. The Schedule for Counseling is available as Annexure XI of the Bulletin.
