CAT 2012 - On-line registration will start at 11.00 hours on 15th January 2012
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the various academic programmes for the year 2012-13 as listed below. Admissions are based on Common Admission Test (CAT)/Departmental Admission Test (DAT)/Test for Lateral Entry (LET). All applicants intending to apply for the academic programmes listed under 1.1, 1.2, 2 and 4 are required to submit their applications through Online Registration whereas for programmes listed under 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 the application forms can be had from the concerned Departments/Schools.
Eligibility conditions and other particulars are given in the prospectus published in the website www.cusat.ac.in Candidates who have appeared/are appearing in full for their final qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply; but this provision is not applicable to the students appearing for compartmental/improvement examinations. All UGC specified degrees, diplomas etc. awarded by UGC approved Statutory Universities are recognized by this University for admission to various courses. However, Distance Education Courses will be considered as recognized, only if they are further approved by the Distance Education Council, New Delhi also.
On-line registration will commence on 15-01-2012.
For First Degree Programmes (B.Tech., and 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics), the
CAT will be conducted on All-India basis with test centres in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jamshedpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Ranchi, Varanasi, Kota, Nagpur, Ahamedabad, Port Blair and all the district head quarters of Kerala. For BBA/ LLB (Hons) the CAT will be conducted at Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai, apart from the test centres in Kerala.
For PG Programmes : The CAT will be conducted at all the district head quarters of Kerala and at Delhi, Kolkota, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai provided the number of candidates opting for these centres is above 100.
Lateral Entry Test will be conducted only at Cochin Centre. The DATs are conducted in the University campus by the individual Departments/Schools/Centres of the University. The dates of these tests will be announced separately.
The University reserves the right to cancel all or to shift or merge any of the notified test centres, dates/rules and regulations relating to programmes of study, eligibility, reservation, admission criteria, fee structure and other relevant matters for administrative reasons. All disputes related to CAT shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Courts at Kochi only. Appearance in the CAT or figuring in the Rank List does not ipso facto confer any right for admission to a particular course
unless found suitable as per the eligibility criteria as amended from time to time.
1. ADMISSIONS THROUGH CAT
Applicants for the following programmes are required to appear for the CAT, except where specifically indicated otherwise.
1.1 FIRST DEGREE PROGRAMMES
a. B.Tech. in Civil Engg.**, Computer Science & Engg.**, Electrical & Electronics Engg.**, Electronics & Communication Engg.**, Information Technology**, Mechanical Engg.** and Safety & Fire Engg.**.
b. B.Tech. in Polymer Science & Engineering
c. Five Year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics
Educational Qualification for a, b & c above: Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala with mathematics, physics and chemistry as optional subjects or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto securing a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry put together.
**(Self financing)
d. B.Tech. in Instrumentation Technology
Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala with mathematics, physics and chemistry as optional subjects or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto securing a minimum of 60% marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry put together, with at least 55% in mathematics separately.
e. B.Tech. in Marine Engg. (Residential Programme)
1)Pass in plus-two or equivalent examination with physics, chemistry, mathematics and english as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60% marks & minimum 50% for mathematics and should have obtained 50% marks in english at 10th or 12th standards. This is applicable to the SC/ST candidates also.
2) Vocational/Diploma students are not eligible to apply.
3) The Maximum age limit prescribed is 25 years as on 1st September of the year of admission.
4) Eligibility for admission will be based on directions from the DG Shipping (Govt. of India)
f. B.Tech. in Naval Architecture & Ship Building
Pass in plus-two examination of the state of Kerala or any other examination accepted as
equivalent thereto with a First Class securing a minimum of 50% marks in mathematics as well as for mathematics, physics and chemistry put together.
g. 5 Year B.B.A LL.B. (Hons.) (Cost sharing course)
1) Pass in plus- two examination with 60% marks in science/commerce group or 55% marks in arts/humanities. (For students who had taken their 10+2 or degree through distance or correspondence method are permitted to join the five year course, whereas those who received the course completion certificate through Open Univeristy Scheme without any basic qualification, are declared ineligible for admission to this course)
2. Should not have completed 20 years of age on July 1st of the year of admission.(22 years in the case of SC/ST and OBC candidates.)
SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission, if they have pass marks in qualifying
examination except for Marine Engineering.
1.2 ELIGIBILITY FOR POST GRADUATE PROGRAMMES
LL.M.
Bachelor’s degree in Law with at least 45% marks.
M.A. Hindi Language and Literature
B.A./B.Sc. degree with Hindi as a subject of study with at least 45% marks in Hindi.
M.B.A. (Full-time )
Bachelor’s degree in any subject with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
M.B.A. (Part-time )
(i) Bachelors degree in any subject with 50% marks in aggregate.
(ii) 50% of the seats are reserved for candidates having 3 years of supervisory / executive experience after taking the degree
(iii) In the absence of such candidates as mentioned in (ii) vacancies will be offered to any other candidates satisfying eligibility as per (i).
M.B.A.(Travel & Tourism)
Bachelor’s degree in any subject with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
M.B.A.(International Business)
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline recognized by the University with 50% marks in aggregate.
M.A. Applied Economics
Bachelor’s degree in Economics with 55% marks in Part III (Economics and Subsidiaries) or 60% marks with B.Com., BBA, BBM with Economics as one of the subject or B.Sc. Mathematics or Statistics with 65% marks.
M.C.A.***
Any graduate with Mathematics as one of the main or subsidiary subjects or graduate in Electronics/Computer Science/Computer Applications/Engg./Technology with aggregate 55% marks in all subjects other than Languages and Humanities. (***Regular and Cost Sharing)
M.Sc. Applied Chemistry
B.Sc. degree with Chemistry/Polymer Chemistry/Environmental Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/ Petrochemicals (main), with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary subjects with at least 55% marks in the main subject.
M. Sc. Biotechnology
Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Life Sciences including Agricultural and Medical Science or Chemical Science or Chemical Engg. with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.
M.Sc. Electronic Science (with specialization in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Microwave Electronics and Computer Technology First class B.Sc. degree with not less than 60% aggregate marks in Electronics or Physics.
M. Sc. Environmental Technology Stream I - Env. Engg.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with Physics and Mathematics as subsidiaries, or Engineering.

B.Sc. degree with Physics main and Mathematics as subsidiary with at least 55% marks in Physics.
M. Sc. Statistics
B.Sc. degree in Mathematics or Statistics main with at least 55% marks for optional subjects taken together.
M.Sc. Instrumentation
B.Sc degree in Instrumentation / Physics / Electronics with 60% marks from any recognized University SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission, if they have pass marks in qualifying examination.
2. M.TECH. PROGRAMMES
Admissions to the following M.Tech. programmes are based on valid GATE score as prescribed under the academic regulations specific to each programme. Candidates not possessing GATE may also apply, but will be considered only if GATE qualified candidates are not available. In such cases, admissions will be based on the DAT conducted by the respective Departments.
M. Tech. Atmospheric Science
1. M.Sc. degree or its equivalent in Meteorology, Oceanography, Mathematics, Physics, and Space Physics with a First Class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution. 2. A valid GATE score or a pass in the Joint UGC CSIR Test (NET) for JRF.
M. Tech. Computer Aided Structural Analysis & Design
1. B.Tech or Equivalent degree in Naval Architecture and Ship building/Civil Engg./Mechanical Engg. with a first class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution 2. A valid GATE score.
M. Tech. Computer & Information Science
1. B.Tech or equivalent degree in any discipline/AMIETE/AMIE or M.Sc. in Physics with
Electronics as special subject or M.Sc. in Mathematics with a first class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution. 2. A valid GATE score.
M. Tech. Software Engg.
1. B.Tech or equivalent degree or AMIETE/AMIE in Computer Science/Information

M. Tech. Electronics (With specialization in Digital Electronics, Microwave & Radar Electronics)

In the absence of GATE qualified candidates Non-GATE candidates can be admitted on the basis of DAT.
M. Tech. Industrial Catalysis
1. M.Sc. degree in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry or any other degree recognized as equivalent with at least a first class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution with valid GATE Score.
M. Tech. Marine Biotechnology
1. B. Tech/ BE in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Biotechnology, Chemistry/Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, B.Pharm., Chemical Technology or M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Marine Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany/ Zoology/Biochemistry, Microbiology/Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics, Marine Biology/Aquatic Biology and Fisheries/Environmental Biotechnology/Mariculture with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA from any recognized Indian or Foreign University. For admission to M.Tech. Marine Biotechnology GATE score is not considered. Selection of candidates is done by JNU on behalf of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
M. Tech. Ocean Technology
1.M.Sc. degree in Oceanography/Physics/Marine Geology/Meteorology/Marine
Geophysics/Environmental Sciences or M.Sc (Tech) degree in Marine Geophysics or B.Tech. or equivalent degree /AMIE in Civil Engg./Environmental Sciences with 60% marks from any recognized University or Institution. 2. A valid GATE score in any of the subjects mentioned above as the second paper.
M. Tech. Opto-Electronics & Laser Technology
1. Masters degree in Physics/Electronics/Photonics/B.Tech. or B.E. Degree in Electronics and Communication Engg./Electronics Engg./Electrical Engg./Electrical and Electronics Engg. with a First Class (60%) from any recognized University or Institution. 2. A valid GATE score in the concerned branch of study.
M. Tech. Polymer Technology
1. B.Tech. or equivalent degree/AMIE in Polymer Science and Rubber Technology/Chemical Engg. / Technology or M.Sc. Polymer Chemistry/M.Sc. Chemistry with Polymer Chemistry as specialisation with a first class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution. 2. A valid GATE score.
M.Tech. Entineering Statistics 1. B.Tech. or equivalent degree/AMIE in any discipline or AMII with a first class (60%) from any recognized University or Institution with valid GATE score SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission to the courses mentioned under 2 above if 1) they have pass mark in the qualifying examination 2) a valid gate score 3) in the absence of GATE qualified candidates, candidate not possessing GATE will be considered.
3. ADMISSIONS THROUGH DAT
Applicants for the programmes indicated under 3.1 - 3.4 are required to qualify the DAT.
3.1 POST GRADUATE PROGRAMME
M. A. Translation (German/Russian)
Bachelor’s degree of any University recognized by CUSAT and Diploma level knowledge in the language concerned.
3.2 DIPLOMA /CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES (PART-TIME)
a. Certificate courses in French/German/Japanese/Russian.
Educational Qualification: Pass in plus two or equivalent or ITI certificate. Previous knowledge of the language is not essential.
b. Integrated Diploma in French/German/Italian/Japanese/ Russian Educational Qualification: Pass in Plus two or equivalent. Previous knowledge in the
language concerned is not essential.
c. Diploma in French/German/Japanese/ Russian
Pass in plus- two or equivalent and certificate level knowledge in the language concerned.
d. P.G. Diploma in Communicative English
Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with english as one of the subjects of study from a University.
e. P.G. Diploma in Translation and Functional Hindi
Bachelor’s degree with hindi as one of the subjects.
3.3 M. Phil. PROGRAMMES (FULL-TIME)
Candidates seeking admission to the Master of Philosophy degree course should have passed
a Master’s degree examination in the concerned subject of any of the Universities approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or an examination accepted by the Academic Council as equivalent thereto and have obtained a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade) in the examination. Candidates who have passed the Master’s degree examination in the Distance/Continuing Education mode are eligible for admission only if their degree is awarded by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
A relaxation of 5% of marks shall be given to the SC/ST candidates. Teachers of a University Department or Colleges recognized by or affiliated to a statutory or “Deemed” University having not less than three years of teaching experience will also be eligible for admission to the course.
50% of the seats of the course shall be reserved for University or College teachers. Priority shall be given to those coming under the Faculty Improvement Programme (FIP) of the UGC or Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) of AICTE.
M. Phil. Chemistry, Commerce, Hindi, Physics and Mathematics.
Master’s degree in the concerned subject with at least 55% marks.
M. Phil. Applied Economics
Pass in Masters degree examination in the subject concerned of the any of the Universities approved by the UGC or an examination accepted by the Academic Council as equivalent thereto and have obtained a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade) in the examination
M. Phil. Marine Chemistry
Master’s degree in Chemistry or Hydrochemistry with 55% marks.
M. Phil. Fisheries Science
MSc. Degree in Industrial Fisheries / Marine Biology/Zoology/Aquatic Biology & Fisheries/Fishery Biology & Aquaculture/Capture and Culture Fisheries/Aquacultre/M.F.Sc/M.Sc. Applied Fisheries and Aqua Culture/ M.Sc. Aqua Culture and Fish processing or any other PG Degree in Fisheries and allied subjects with 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade.
M. Phil. Life Sciences
Master’s degree in any branch of Life Sciences with 60% marks.
3.4 Ph. D PROGRAMMES
Ph. D programmes are offered in all the teaching Departments/Schools and recognized
Institutions of the University. Candidates are advised to ascertain the areas of research and the availability of vacancies from the Departments/Schools or Recognized Institutions before-hand.
Candidates intending to do research in the Recognized Institutions of the University are to obtain application forms from the University Departments/Schools dealing with the discipline of their choice.

The University Departments/Schools located at the Lake Side Campus at Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi-682 016 are Atmospheric Sciences, Chemical Oceanography, Industrial Fisheries, Marine Biology, Microbiology & Biochemistry, Marine Geology & Geophysics and Physical Oceanography.
4. LATERAL ENTRY TO B. TECH THIRD SEMESTER THROUGH LET
Courses open to LET: B.Tech. in Civil Engg., Computer Science & Engg., Electrical &
Electronics Engg., Electronics & Communication Engg., Information Technology,
Instrumentation Technology, Mechanical Engg., Polymer Science & Engineering and Safety & Fire Engg.
Eligbility: Any three year Diploma in Engineering/Technology awarded by the Board of
Technical Education recognized by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala with not less than 60% marks.
The maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July 2012.
5. FOREIGN NATIONAL STUDENTS
1. International students are exempted from the requirement of admission test (CAT/DAT) for the academic programmes of the University. They can apply either on self financing basis or through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) attached to the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India. They are required to submit the application through online for the academic programme of the University on payment of US$ 100 by way of Demand Draft / Pay order/Any other instrument (which does not involve collection charges on the part of the University) in favour of Registrar, CUSAT. Details are available in the prospectus published in the website.
2. Applicants who have successfully registered online with CUSAT may forward an advance copy of the confirmation page along with payment of registration fee (D.D/Pay Order) and relevant documents to the following address. The original confirmation page should be forwarded with necessary documents through the Embassy of India in the respective country.

6. IMPORTANT POINTS AT A GLANCE
6.1. Only On-line applications will be c onsidered for all B.Tech Programmes including Lateral Entry Programmes, 5 year Integrated M.Sc in Photonics, 5 year B.B.A. LL.B (Hons.), M.Tech. and Post Graduate Programmes.
6.2. For M.Phil, M.A Translation in German & Russian, Ph.D, Diploma and Certificate
programmes, applications can be had from the concerned Departments/Schools/Centres either directly or by post.
6.3. Fee Details:
Mode of payment for online applications: 1) By cash payment at SBI or SBT bank using the chellan that can be printed out during online filling of applications. After the payment, re-login and enter the Journal No,, Branch Name and Branch Code. 2) By payment gateway using Credit/ Debit/ATM card .
Mode of payment for DAT application: By DD for required amount drawn in favour of
“Registrar, CUSAT” payable at Cochin, issued by SBT or SBI ONLY. Candidates should write his/her name and Application No. on upper left hand corner of the reverse side of the DD. The DD should be taken on or after the date of CAT 2012 Notification. DD taken after the last date fixed for the submission of application will not be accepted.
The application fee applicable for various categories are:
` 950/- for General Category Candidates and `.425/- for SC/ST Category. `. 5950/- for
candidates who apply under NRI Quota
For Diploma & Certificate Programmes - ` 100/- for general category and `. 50/- for SC/ST category.
7. ALLOCATION OF SEATS
Of the total seats for B.Tech (Self-Financing) programmes 50% are free seats, 40% are
payment seats and 10% are NRI payment seats. The free seats are earmarked for Keralite students. For B.Tech. in Naval Architecture & Ship Building, instrumentation and Polymer Science & Engineering 10% of the seats are reserved for students on all India basis (All India Quota) and the remaining seats for Keralites.
For all regular Post-Graduate Programmes
including subsidized Post-Graduate programmes like M.C.A., M.B.A. (International Business), and 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics programme 10% of the seats are set apart for students on all India basis (All India Quota) and the remaining for Keralites. For Post-Graduate programmes under Self-Financing sector 50% of the seats are given for Keralites, 10% for NRI’s and the remaining 40% open to all.
A candidate will be considered as a “Keralite” for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, if a) He/she or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala OR b) He/she has been a resident of Kerala for a period of 5 years within a period of 12 years OR c) He/she has undergone his/her school studies from standards VIII to XII in educational institution(s) in Kerala OR d) Children of All India Service (AIS) Officers (Non Keralites) allotted to Kerala circle are deemed to be “Keralites” [GO (Rt) No.822/H.Edn dated 29.05.2008]. But they will not be eligible for Communal/Special Reservations.
Rules for communal reservation framed by the Government of Kerala and implemented in the University from time to time will be applicable to the various academic programmes. Besides communal reservation, specified number of seats are set apart under Special Reservation. For details see prospectus in website www.cusat.ac.in.
8. GENERAL INFORMATION
1. M.Tech. Marine Bio-Technology: Selection of candidates is done by Jawaharlal Nehru
University (JNU) on behalf of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India through a National Test along with all such examinations conducted by the University (JNU) . GATE Score is not considered for admission. For details visit www.jnu.ac.in and www.ncaah.org .
2. Application forms for programmes listed under 3.1 and 3.2 are available from the departments / schools as indicated below.
3.1 and 3.2a to 3.2d: The Head, Department of Culture & Heritage, CUSAT,

3. Application forms for programmes listed under 3.3 and 3.4 are available only from the respective Departments.
4. Candidates applying simultaneously for both B.Tech Programmes and Lateral Entry
Programmes through online should remit the required fees specified for each programme.
5. Entry requirements for each Programme are given under ‘Eligibility Criteria’. The responsibility for ensuring satisfactory compliance to the prescribed Eligibility Criteria is vested solely with the applicant. Claims found untenable upon subsequent scrutiny shall result in summary disqualification of the applicant concerned and cancellation of any or all admission processes undergone.
6. The choice of the Test Subject/Test Centre is the responsibility of the applicant alone and the selection once exercised in the online registration shall be final and irrevocable.
7. The Distribution of Seats for various courses will be governed by the rules and regulations of the University in force. For details visit University website.
8. SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission, if they have pass marks in qualifying
examination except for Marine Engineering.
9. HOW TO REGISTER ONLINE
I. Candidates are instructed to read thoroughly all information published in the website http://iraaa.cusat.ac.in before filling up the application.

CAT 2012 - On-line registration will start at 11.00 hours on 15th January 2012
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the various academic programmes for the year 2012-13 as listed below. Admissions are based on Common Admission Test (CAT)/Departmental Admission Test (DAT)/Test for Lateral Entry (LET). All applicants intending to apply for the academic programmes listed under 1.1, 1.2, 2 and 4 are required to submit their applications through Online Registration whereas for programmes listed under 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 the application forms can be had from the concerned Departments/Schools.
Eligibility conditions and other particulars are given in the prospectus published in the website www.cusat.ac.in Candidates who have appeared/are appearing in full for their final qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply; but this provision is not applicable to the students appearing for compartmental/improvement examinations. All UGC specified degrees, diplomas etc. awarded by UGC approved Statutory Universities are recognized by this University for admission to various courses. However, Distance Education Courses will be considered as recognized, only if they are further approved by the Distance Education Council, New Delhi also.
On-line registration will commence on 15-01-2012.
For First Degree Programmes (B.Tech., and 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics), the
CAT will be conducted on All-India basis with test centres in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jamshedpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Ranchi, Varanasi, Kota, Nagpur, Ahamedabad, Port Blair and all the district head quarters of Kerala. For BBA/ LLB (Hons) the CAT will be conducted at Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai, apart from the test centres in Kerala.
For PG Programmes : The CAT will be conducted at all the district head quarters of Kerala and at Delhi, Kolkota, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai provided the number of candidates opting for these centres is above 100.
Lateral Entry Test will be conducted only at Cochin Centre. The DATs are conducted in the University campus by the individual Departments/Schools/Centres of the University. The dates of these tests will be announced separately.
The University reserves the right to cancel all or to shift or merge any of the notified test centres, dates/rules and regulations relating to programmes of study, eligibility, reservation, admission criteria, fee structure and other relevant matters for administrative reasons. All disputes related to CAT shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Courts at Kochi only. Appearance in the CAT or figuring in the Rank List does not ipso facto confer any right for admission to a particular course
unless found suitable as per the eligibility criteria as amended from time to time.

e. B.Tech. in Marine Engg. (Residential Programme)

g. 5 Year B.B.A LL.B. (Hons.) (Cost sharing course)
1) Pass in plus- two examination with 60% marks in science/commerce group or 55% marks in arts/humanities. (For students who had taken their 10+2 or degree through distance or correspondence method are permitted to join the five year course, whereas those who received the course completion certificate through Open Univeristy Scheme without any basic qualification, are declared ineligible for admission to this course)
2. Should not have completed 20 years of age on July 1st of the year of admission.(22 years in the case of SC/ST and OBC candidates.)

3.3 M. Phil. PROGRAMMES (FULL-TIME)
Candidates seeking admission to the Master of Philosophy degree course should have passed
a Master’s degree examination in the concerned subject of any of the Universities approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or an examination accepted by the Academic Council as equivalent thereto and have obtained a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade) in the examination. Candidates who have passed the Master’s degree examination in the Distance/Continuing Education mode are eligible for admission only if their degree is awarded by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
A relaxation of 5% of marks shall be given to the SC/ST candidates. Teachers of a University Department or Colleges recognized by or affiliated to a statutory or “Deemed” University having not less than three years of teaching experience will also be eligible for admission to the course.
50% of the seats of the course shall be reserved for University or College teachers. Priority shall be given to those coming under the Faculty Improvement Programme (FIP) of the UGC or Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) of AICTE.

5. FOREIGN NATIONAL STUDENTS
1. International students are exempted from the requirement of admission test (CAT/DAT) for the academic programmes of the University. They can apply either on self financing basis or through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) attached to the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India. They are required to submit the application through online for the academic programme of the University on payment of US$ 100 by way of Demand Draft / Pay order/Any other instrument (which does not involve collection charges on the part of the University) in favour of Registrar, CUSAT. Details are available in the prospectus published in the website.
2. Applicants who have successfully registered online with CUSAT may forward an advance copy of the confirmation page along with payment of registration fee (D.D/Pay Order) and relevant documents to the following address. The original confirmation page should be forwarded with necessary documents through the Embassy of India in the respective country.

Mode of payment for online applications: 1) By cash payment at SBI or SBT bank using the chellan that can be printed out during online filling of applications. After the payment, re-login and enter the Journal No,, Branch Name and Branch Code. 2) By payment gateway using Credit/ Debit/ATM card .
Mode of payment for DAT application: By DD for required amount drawn in favour of
“Registrar, CUSAT” payable at Cochin, issued by SBT or SBI ONLY. Candidates should write his/her name and Application No. on upper left hand corner of the reverse side of the DD. For B.Tech. in Naval Architecture & Ship Building, instrumentation and Polymer Science & Engineering 10% of the seats are reserved for students on all India basis (All India Quota) and the remaining seats for Keralites.
For all regular Post-Graduate Programmes
including subsidized Post-Graduate programmes like M.C.A., M.B.A. (International Business), and 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Photonics programme 10% of the seats are set apart for students on all India basis (All India Quota) and the remaining for Keralites. For Post-Graduate programmes under Self-Financing sector 50% of the seats are given for Keralites, 10% for NRI’s and the remaining 40% open to all.
A candidate will be considered as a “Keralite” for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, if a) He/she or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala OR b) He/she has been a resident of Kerala for a period of 5 years within a period of 12 years OR c) He/she has undergone his/her school studies from standards VIII to XII in educational institution(s) in Kerala OR d) Children of All India Service (AIS) Officers (Non Keralites) allotted to Kerala circle are deemed to be “Keralites” [GO (Rt) No.822/H.Edn dated 29.05.2008]. But they will not be eligible for Communal/Special Reservations.
Rules for communal reservation framed by the Government of Kerala and implemented in the University from time to time will be applicable to the various academic programmes. Besides communal reservation, specified number of seats are set apart under Special Reservation. For details see prospectus in website www.cusat.ac.in.
8. GENERAL INFORMATION
1. M.Tech. Marine Bio-Technology: Selection of candidates is done by Jawaharlal Nehru
University (JNU) on behalf of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India through a National Test along with all such examinations conducted by the University (JNU) . GATE Score is not considered for admission. For details visit www.jnu.ac.in and www.ncaah.org .
2. Application forms for programmes listed under 3.1 and 3.2 are available from the departments / schools as indicated below.

3. Application forms for programmes listed under 3.3 and 3.4 are available only from the respective Departments.
4. Candidates applying simultaneously for both B.Tech Programmes and Lateral Entry
Programmes through online should remit the required fees specified for each programme.
5. Entry requirements for each Programme are given under ‘Eligibility Criteria’. The responsibility for ensuring satisfactory compliance to the prescribed Eligibility Criteria is vested solely with the applicant. Claims found untenable upon subsequent scrutiny shall result in summary disqualification of the applicant concerned and cancellation of any or all admission processes undergone.
6. The choice of the Test Subject/Test Centre is the responsibility of the applicant alone and the selection once exercised in the online registration shall be final and irrevocable.
7. The Distribution of Seats for various courses will be governed by the rules and regulations of the University in force. For details visit University website.
8. SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission, if they have pass marks in qualifying
examination except for Marine Engineering.
9. HOW TO REGISTER ONLINE
I. Candidates are instructed to read thoroughly all information published in the website http://iraaa.cusat.ac.in before filling up the application.
II. Candidates are required to fill in all details correctly (like SC/ST, Communal/Special Reservation/OEC, income band etc.) failing which the claim under the said categories will not be considered for ranking/admission.
III. Any anomaly in the details furnished during the online registration leading to rejection of the application will be the responsibility of the candidate alone. Hence the registration must be done with utmost care.
IV.If any corrections are to be made before final submission of the on-line registration form, use the menu section to navigate to previous pages. One can also use “Edit my profile” button in the view application screen.
V. If the candidate is satisfied with the entries after verifying the preview, press the ‘FINAL SUBMISSION’ button for completing the registration process. Take the print out of the confirmation page for future reference.
VI Request for change of test centre will not be entertained under any circumstances.
VIII. Incomplete applications in any respect will summarily be rejected.
IX. No separate admit card will be sent to candidate address. Please download the admit card from the website www.cusat.ac.in. The Admit Card can be downloaded by logging in using user name and password.
