KVPY Fellowships 2012
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana under department of Science and Technology has invited applications from School and College students of Academic year 2012-13, as per following streams, interested in research careers, for KVPY Fellowships:
STREAM SA:
Students enrolled in the XI Standard (Science subjects) and have secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC / ST) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.
Monthly Fellowship: Rs. 4000
STREAM SB:
Students enrolled in 1st year BSc / BS / Int. MSc / MS during the academic year 2012-13 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC / ST) marks in aggregate in Science Subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination.
Monthly Fellowship: Rs. 5000
STREAM SX:
Students enrolled in class 12(+2) and aspiring to join UG Program in Basic Sciences (BSc / BS / Int. MSc / MS) for the session 2013-14 provided they secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC / ST) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the X standard Board Examination.
Monthly Fellowship: Rs. 5000

A processing fee of Rs.200/-(Rs.100/- for SC / ST) is applicable which can be remitted at any core banking branches of SBI to the credit of Administrative Executive, KVPY A/c No. 10270577392.
Hard copy of the application form can be obtained from KVPY on request by remitting a processing fee of Rs. 200/- (Rs. 100/- for SC / ST) at any core banking branches of STATE BANK OF INDIA, payable at all branches in India into the credit of "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana(KVPY) A/c. No. 10270577392" and sending the "Pay-In-Slip" along with the request, clearly indicating the stream on the envelope.
Processing fee is exempted in case of SC / ST, Physically and Visually challenged students and Girl students.
The completed application form along with the following documents should reach KVPY, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore - 560012.
* Caste certificate in the case of SC / ST candidate
* Medical certificate from the prescribed authority in case of physically and visually challenged candidates.
* Project report in the case of SP (Basic Sciences / Medicine).
* Copy of the marks statement of the qualifying examination(s), in the case of Stream SP.
* The original copy of the challan of processing fee of Rs. 200/- (Rs. 100/- for SC / ST)

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an on-going National Program of Fellowships in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally and highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and career in research.
The objectives of the program are to identify the students with talent and aptitude for research; help them realize their potential in their studies; encourage them to take up research careers in Science, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country.
The advertisement for the KVPY Fellowship appears in all the national dailies normally on Technology Day the May 11 and Second Sunday of July every year.
The selection of students is from those studying in XI standard to 1st year of any undergraduate Program in Natural and Basic Sciences having aptitude for scientific research. There are special groups or committees set up at IISc, which screen the applications, conduct aptitude test at various centres. Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students are invited for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure. For receiving a fellowship, both aptitude test and interview are required.
Generous scholarships are provided up to the pre-Ph.D. level to the selected students.

A hard copy of the application form can be obtained from KVPY on request, enclosing therewith the paid “Bank Challan/ Pay-in-slip” (available at: http://www.kvpy.org.in/), clearly indicating the stream SA/SX/SB on the envelope.
PROCESSING FEE: A processing fee of Rs. 200/- may be remitted at any core banking branch of STATE BANK OF INDIA to the credit of “Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) A/c. No. 10270577392”).
The Processing fee is exempted for the following category of students:
Students belonging to SC/ST
Physically and Visually challenged students
Girl students

The completed application form along with the following documents, superscribing on the envelope the scheme applied for, should reach the KVPYoffice on or before 12/09/2012.
Caste certificate issued by a competent authority in the prescribed proforma in the case of SC/ST students.
Medical certificate from the prescribed authority in case of physically and visually challenged students.
Copy of the marks statement of the qualifying examination(s).
The original Pay-in-slip of Rs. 200/- if applicable.
KVPY will not be responsible for postal delays in receiving completed application.
