In the CSIR-NCL advertisement No. CSIR-NCL/SAO/1/2013, dated 22
April 2013, appeared in newspapers, the para under the 'Sponsored
Candidates' referring to Ph.D. (Sciences) and the 'Bachelors'
qualification under Ph.D. (Engineering) may be treated as cancelled. All other
information shall remain the same.
Only the following category is available for sponsored candidates.
PhD (Engineering): Personnel from industry holding a Masters degree in Chemical
Engineering/Technology/related disciplines.

CSIR-NCL invites applications for
PhD programme (under regular and sponsored categories) of the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) in Science and Engineering, for the
August 2013 session. Interested candidates are requested to go through the
eligibility criteria given below and the details under various links on the
left side.
Interested candidates who fulfil
the eligibility criteria can apply online from April 18, 2013 at http://acsir.res.in.
Online application will close on May
23, 2013. For more details about application and admission procedures,
and to know more about AcSIR, candidates are requested to visit the AcSIR website.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Regular Candidates
PhD Programme in Science:
(i) Masters degree in
Chemical/Physical/Biological and related Sciences/Technology
AND
(ii) A valid research fellowship
offer (JRF/SRF) from UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR/BINC/DST-INSPIRE/UGC-RGNF/UGC-MANF or
any other equivalent research fellowship programme.
Candidates without any valid
research fellowship as mentioned above or those who have qualified only the
CSIR/UGC lectureship (LS) category or GATE are not eligible to apply for PhD
programme in Science. Such applications will not be considered.
PhD Programme in
Engineering:
a) For applicants with a
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering/Technology/related discipline:
(i) Minimum of 55% marks or 5.5 CGPA or equivalent at the
Bachelors degree level (50% marks or 5.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PH candidates)
(ii) A valid GATE score above the qualifying score for that subject OR A valid research fellowship offer from CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/BINC/DST-INSPIRE/UGC-RGNF/UGC-MANF or any other research fellowship programme
(iii) Age on August 15, 2013 should be less than 28 yrs (relaxable upto 5 years in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes, women, physically handicapped and OBC applicants).
(iv) BTech degree should be awarded in the past two years, i.e. only graduates of 2013 and 2012 are eligible. This condition is not applicable for candidates having a valid research fellowship.
(ii) A valid GATE score above the qualifying score for that subject OR A valid research fellowship offer from CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/BINC/DST-INSPIRE/UGC-RGNF/UGC-MANF or any other research fellowship programme
(iii) Age on August 15, 2013 should be less than 28 yrs (relaxable upto 5 years in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes, women, physically handicapped and OBC applicants).

Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology is desirable.
(ii) A valid research fellowship offer from CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/BINC/DST-INSPIRE/UGC-RGNF/UGC-MANF or any other research fellowship programme

Note:
a. Current Project Assistants working at NCL are eligible to apply if they satisfy the requirements specified by CSIR/ CSIR-NCL.
b. Students who have not qualified the JRF examination and are not eligible to apply for the PhD program may apply to individual scientists and enquire about the possibility of Project Assistantships or click here to view the recent PA advertisements.

2. Sponsored Candidates
PhD
Programme in Engineering: Personnel from industry holding a
Masters degree in Chemical Engineering/Technology/related disciplines.
Sponsored candidates who wish
to apply for PhD admission at CSIR-NCL are requested to get in touch with
CSIR-NCL and identify a suitable area of research as well as a research
advisor. The application process will be the same as for other candidates.
However, sponsored candidates will have to download the filled application form
and send it to CSIR-NCL (Student Academic Office, CSIR-National Chemical
Laboratory, Pune 411008) along with the company's NOC and other relevant
documents. The hard copy of the application along with all relevant documents
should reach CSIR-NCL latest by May 28, 2013.The screening and selection
procedures will be the same as that for regular candidates.
