IISER Kolkata Post-Bachelor Integrated PhD programme (2013-14)

Applications have been invited by Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata for admission to Post-Bachelor Integrated PhD programme (2013-14).

Eligibility: Students with a B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./M.B.B.S. degree from any recognized University/Institute/College can apply for the Post-Bachelor Integrated Ph.D. programme in Biological, Chemical, Earth, Mathematical and Physical Sciences. Candidates need to secure a minimum of 60% marks in Honours or Major (whichever applicable) or equivalent grades in their qualifying examinations. Those who are appearing in the final examination of their degree course can also apply; for them, the eligibility marks are 60% in aggregate, based on the marks obtained in the undergraduate examinations held so far. Students applying for a Post-Bachelor Integrated Ph.D. Programme are required to have the following subject(s) in the undergraduate courses:

When to apply: For the Autumn Session (starts from July, 2013), candidates should apply online latest by May 26, 2013.

How to apply: The applicants should open the link  and properly fill the application form as instructed and submit. Applicants should save the properly filled application form and take a print as the hard copy of the application. List of selected candidates for written test (based on syllabus of B. Sc. standard) will be published in the IISER-Kolkata website on May 29, 2013. Written test and interview of selected candidates (based on written test) will be conducted from 17th to 20th June, 2013. Names of candidates selected for Integrated PhD programme for the year 2013-14 will be published in IISER-Kolkata website on June 26, 2013.

Documents required: Selected candidates for test/interview should bring a hard copy of application along with the required documents listed below at the time of test/interview:

Attested copies of mark sheets and certificates of all examinations starting from secondary examination.

Confidential recommendation letters of assessment of the applicant from two teachers who have taught courses and would be able to evaluate the student as a potential research worker. The teachers should seal the envelopes and sign across the flaps.

Selection procedure: Institute-level committee(s) will scrutinize all the applications, and prepare a shortlist of candidates, who will be called for written test/interview. The students qualifying the written test will be interviewed (the same day or the next day). The Institute will finally declare the list of selected candidates on the Institute website. Students will be given a monthly fellowship. For candidates whose final examination marks are not available at the time of interview, admission to the programme will be provisional. They must produce their final mark sheet to Academic Cell showing that they had secured 60% or more in aggregate in their Bachelor within 60 days of their admission.

Important message: Digital/Scanned Photograph: Before you start filling up the online application form, be ready with one scanned copy of your recent passport size photograph. Without the scanned photograph, the application form cannot be printed. Candidate applying for more than one stream: In this you have to apply for each of the separate stream/department separately.
