B.Ed, course Admission Notice
2013-2014
The
LBS Centre for Science and Technology Thiruvanan-thapuram, has invited
applications for admission to B.Ed, courses in government, aided and
self-financing training colleges in the State.
Apply
online till September 12. Submit a single application for the government merit
seats, which come to some 11,00(X This year, the LBS Centre will not make any
seat allotment, but will only prepare college-course, subject-wise and category-wise
rank lists. From these lists, the colleges will conduct admissions.
In
the government colleges, all seats will be filled up on the basis of merit,
following the reservation policy. In private self-financing colleges, 50 per
cent of the seats will be government quota:
There
is no entrance test. The ranks will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained
for Part III main and subsidiary subjects. Fifteen marks will be given to those
who have a first-class postgraduate degree, 10 marks for second-class and five
marks for third-class in the same subjects for which the candidate seeks
admission. Ten marks each will be given for those with National Service Scheme
or National Cadet Corps certificates for participation at the degree level.
A
provisional rank list will be published on the website of the LBS centre.
Applicants can verify the list and submit complaints if any. The tuition fee
in government and aided colleges is Rs. 1,500. Those in government seats in self-financing
colleges should pay Rs. 29,000.
Eligibility
Those
who have a BA or B.Sc. degree with minimum 50 per cent marks are
eligible to apply. The choice of optional subject for the B.Ed, course should
be the same as the one which the student has' selected as the main subject for
graduation.
Those
who have an M.Com. degree with not less than 50 per cent marks are eligible for
admission to the B.Ed, course in Commerce.
For
the courses in Information Technology and Computer Seience, the entry
qualification is MCA or M.Sc. Computer Science or Electronics with minimum 50
per cent marks.

Those belonging to the socially and educationally backward communities and
other eligible communities (OEC) with annual family income below Rs. 4.5 lakh
will be given five per cent concession in marks in the qualifying examination.
Visually challenged applicants will be given a five per cent concession. Applicants
belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes need only a pass
mark. There is no upper age limit. Detailed eligibility criteria are given in
the prospectus.
How
to apply
There
is only a single application form for applying online on www.lbscentre.org and www.lbskerala.com. The application fee is Rs.
500 (Rs.250 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled
Tribes). The application fee should be remitted in any of the Federal Bank
branches in Kerala using a challan generated online during the process of
submission of the application. A copy of the prospectus can be obtained from
the district-level facilitation centre of the LBS Centre on producing the
fee-remitted challan.

Applicants should further click the button "New Candidate" and furnish
personal details. After the fee remittance, again login as "Fee-remitted
candidate" and enter the application and challan numbers and date of
remittance of fee in the bank and click the "Confirm" button. Then
upload a soft copy of a passport-size photograph and the candidate will get a
unique registration ID. Further click the "Proceed" button and fill
the personal data sheet.
On completion of the process click the "Print" button
and take a printout of the completed application. This should be sent, along
with the bank challan receipt and self-attested copies of certificates, to the
Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Nandavanam, Palayam,
Thiru-vananthapuram - 695 033 so as
to reach there on or before 5 p.m. on September 13.
