India Post Graduate Dental Entrance Examination (AIPGDEE)-2014
Applications
have been invited by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences for the All
India Post Graduate Dental Entrance Examination (AIPGDEE)-2014 for admission to
the 3 year, Postgraduate MDS courses-2014. The examination is being conducted
by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in compliance to the
directives of the Supreme Court of India, for admission to the seats of Dental
Colleges for various postgraduate courses (MDS), recognized/approved/permitted
by the Ministry of Health & FW/DCI.
Scheme : All India Quota
& State Quota in Participating States:The scheme for selection of
candidates for admission to the 50 pc Postgraduate Dental courses (MDS) on
all-India basis will be applicable to all Government Dental
Colleges/Institutions throughout the country. No Dental College/Institution
shall hereafter conduct competitive entrance examination of its own for these
seats on all-India basis, except the States of Jammu & Kashmir and Andhra
Pradesh. However, the students having passed their BDS examination from any
Institution in these two States shall not be eligible to participate in the 50
pc All India Post Graduate Dental Entrance Exam for selection of candidates
against All India Quota seats.
Those
nominated by the Government of India to do BDS from Dental Colleges in Andhra
Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir shall be eligible to apply for admission under
All India Quota, subject to submission of a bond on a Non-Judicial Stamp Paper
of Rs. 10/- to this effect. A copy of the nomination letter must be attached
with the bond.
The
number of seats available for 2014 has not been finalised. The number of AIQ
seats available in different colleges with their subject-wise break-up, will be
displayed at www.mcc.nic.in / www.mohfw.nic.in
during the period of on-line counseling
by the Medical Counseling Committee.
State counseling authorities shall display before counseling the state
quota seats.
List
of Dental Colleges where seats may be available and the courses that may be
available for MDS Courses is available as Annexure VI, VII and VIII of the
Information Bulletin that can be downloaded from

Armed Forces
Medical Services
: Admission to the Institutions of the Armed Forces Medical Services is
restricted only to serving Army Dental Corps Officers. These candidates shall
tick the option ‘Serving Armed Forces Dental Officer’, in the Application Form.
Only those serving Armed Forces Dental Officers ticking the above option shall
be considered for admission to (i) Armed Forces Medical College, Pune (ii) Army
Hospital (Research & Referral), Delhi Cantt. A separate merit list of
category ‘Armed Forces’,shall be provided to the Directorate General of Dental
Services for admission to Armed Forces institutions. It shall be necessary for
a Dental Officer to obtain minimum of marks at 50th percentile to be eligible
for admission in the ‘Armed Forces’ category. Selection and final admissions to
these institutions shall be made by the Armed Forces Medical Services based on
applications by the Dental Officers to these institutions, as per Govt. of
India – Ministry of Defence rules and regulations in conjunction with those
applicable to the affiliated Universities.
Eligibility : Applicant must be an Indian National / Person
of Indian Origin / Overseas Citizen of India Card holders, possessing BDS
degree from a Dental College recognized by the Government of India under the
Dentists Act, 1948 and who has obtained provisional or permanent registration
from any of the State Dental Councils after passing the final BDS examination
and has completed one year (12 months) Compulsory Rotating Internship in an
approved/recognized Dental College. The condition of one year Compulsory
Rotating Internship is not applicable to those who had passed their final BDS
Examination in or before 1988 and hold a BDS Degree from a Dental College
recognized by the Dental Council of India and have obtained provisional or
permanent registration from any of the State Dental Councils.
No
condonation of Internship of 12 months period shall be accepted except for the
students of the batch admitted during the academic session 2007-2008 and have
completed 4½ year BDS Course along with 06 months compulsory rotating
internship and for the students admitted during the academic session 2006-2007
at Rajah Muthiah Dental College, Annamalai University who have completed 5
years BDS Course without internship.
Those
undergoing 12-month compulsory rotating internship/practical training and is
likely to complete the same by 31st March 2014 can take up this examination,
subject to the completion of the compulsory rotating internship and obtaining
provisional or permanent registration on or before 31st March 2014 or producing
a certificate from the head of institution that he/she will be completing
internship by 31st March 2014. Candidates will be required to submit the
original Compulsory Rotating Internship completion certificate at the time of
counseling.
The
cut off dates for the recognition of the Dental Colleges, from where the
candidates have passed their BDS Degree Course and completed compulsory
rotatory Internship for the year 2014 will be 31st October 2013. The Colleges
recognized after this date will not be considered. Registration with State Dental Councils is
necessary and its documentary proof should be furnished at the time of
counseling. Some of the Universities are having regulations that candidates who
are already pursuing the PG Course in their University or in another University
are not eligible for admission till they complete the course. The candidates
who are already pursuing PG Courses either through All India Quota or State
Quota and are applying for a seat under All India Post Graduate Dental Entrance
Exam may confirm the eligibility conditions of that University in this
regard.
Entrance
Examination
: Selection to the Programmes will be based on the merit in an online Entrance
Examination to be held from 10 am to 1 pm,on 25th January, 2014 at Chennai,
Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Guwati and Thiruvananthapuram. Candidate should
indicate in the Online Application Form, the city where he/she would like to
appear for the examination.
There
will be only one paper of 3 hours duration, containing 200 Multiple Choice
Questions consisting of Basic Sciences, Para-Clinical and Clinical subjects.
The questions will be single answer objective type. Each answer with correct
answer shall be awarded four marks. One mark will be deducted for each wrong
answer. Zero mark will be given for the questions not answered. More than one
answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect answer and will
be negatively marked.
Syllabus : The syllabus
for the All India Post Graduate Dental Entrance Exam for admission to the MDS
courses shall be that of BDS standard and shall cover all the subjects/syllabus
taught during the BDS course as prescribed in the DCI Revised BDS Course
Regulations, 2007 as amended from time to time.
Application Fee
: Application fee forGeneral/OBC Category
applicants is Rs.1000/- and that for SC/ST applicants is Rs. 800/-. Transaction
charges as applicable will have to be paid by all. Payment is to be made
through computer generated Challan Form in any branch of State Bank of India
(SBI). Fee can also be paid online using Credit Card / Debit Card. This is to
be done during the submission of application form online.
Online
Registration & Submission of Application Forms : Applications
can be submitted online at http://neetmds.aiimsexams.org/StudentLogin.aspx till 5 pm on 31st December, 2013. The different
stages of online submission of applications include Registration, uploading of
images, Payment Slip generation, Fee Payment and generation of Registration
Slip. All these stages should be completed by31st December, 2013. Applicant
should read the Advertisement, Prospectus, Help Manual etc; before start
filling up the Online Application Form. Before proceeding to register,
applicant should arrange a soft copy of his/her Photo and signature as per the
AIIMS instructions. Applicant should fill his/her correct basic and academic
details like Name, Date of birth, Address, Category, Contact No., and course
etc. subsequently. Applicant should also choose the password between 6-10
characters. After 1st step of registration, applicant will get SMS and Email intimating
the login details.
After
filling of Online Application Form, a ‘My Page’ will be generated for each and
every candidate bearing his entire information as filled by him/her along with
a Unique Application Number which the candidate can use in future
correspondence. The ‘My Page’will provide Due Steps (should be completed before
closing date), Application/ Registration Status/Admit Card/Results etc for the candidate.
Applicants
need to click on ‘Pay through SBI Bank Challan’ link to generate ‘Bank Challan’
from ‘My Status’section on ‘My Page’ and deposit the registration fee at
nearest SBI Branch, one day after generation of challan. After making the
payment Bank Copy will be retained by the Bank.
Applicant may retain the Candidate Copy of Challan form safely. Payment
can also be made through Debit/ Credit Card.
After
making payment in SBI bank applicant will again receive SMS and Email after a
day. On receipt of this, applicant should login to relevant AIIMS Online form
and print his/her Registration Slip from ‘My Page’. Applicant has to click on
‘Print Registration Slip’ link to take print from ‘My Status’ section on ‘My
Page’. Taking print of ‘Registration Slip’ is essential.
Applicant
need not send hard copy to Exam Section, AIIMS. But the Registration Slip and
Candidate copy of Challan Form should be retained for future references. No
candidates should register more than one application.
Status
of Registration Slips Received : Acknowledgement with regard to successful
Online Registration will be forwarded to applicants through SMS. However, the
status of Admit Card will be available on AIIMS, New Delhi websites
www.aiims.ac.in and www.aiims.edu as well as www.aiimsexams.org
after 15th January 2014. Candidates are
advised to check position regarding status of Application form at www.aiimsexams.org. If the status of a candidate’s Admit Card is
not available on website, he/she should immediately contact Asst Controller of Examinations, AIIMS, New
Delhi-110 029 along with full particulars of the Registration of
application form by sending an email on exams.ac@gmail.com.
The
candidates in employment may send their applications/registration slip directly
to AIIMS, New Delhi. However, they must
inform their employer about applying for this examination and further, in the
event any communication from his/her Institution/ Department with holding
permission to his/her appearing in the above Entrance Examination/admission to
the course his/her candidature/admission may be cancelled.
Since
allotments of seats are made through online allotment, candidates are not
required to give their choice of subject and college at the time of submission
of application form.
Admit Cards : A downloadable
Admit Card will be hosted for all the eligible candidates at www.aiimsexams.org
by 15th January, 2014.
Candidates must take a printout of the same. The admit card will not be sent by
post. Candidates should preserve the Admit Card till allotment of seat in
College/Institute. Duplicate Admit Card will not be issued after the
examination. Candidates should report at the allotted centre of examination at
8 am on the day of examination. No candidate will be allowed to enter the
examination hall after 9.50 am. Candidate should carry only Admit Card and one
photograph and I/D proof into the hall.
Declaration of
Results :
The result of successful candidates with their rank numbers is expected to be
declared by the 5th of February, 2014 and will be displayed on the notice board
of Examination Section, AIIMS, New Delhi. It will be available at www.aiimsexams.org. There
is no provision for rechecking/re-evaluation of the answer sheets and no query
in this regard will be entertained.
Those
who figure in the merit list are required to download the Rank Letter from www.aiimsexams.org as the rank letter will not be sent through
postal service. A downloadable Rank Letter will be hosted on website
www.aiimsexams.org only one week before the commencement of counseling. It will
be the responsibility of candidate to download the rank letter before the
counseling. The Institute will not intimate the individual unsuccessful
candidates regarding the result of entrance test and no correspondence on this
subject will be entertained. However, the marks of individual candidate will be
available on AIIMS website on completion of the admission process.
Merit List : For All India
50 pc Quota, a total of five times the number of seats available for allotment
or all qualified candidates, whichever is less, will be given chance to
participate in online counseling (allotment process) for All India 50 pc quota.
The result of only those candidates who will be eligible to participate in the
All India PG counseling 2014 shall be declared under the All India 50 pc Quota
list.
In
order to be eligible for admission to any postgraduate course in a particular
academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum of 50 pc
marks in ‘All India Post Graduate Dental Entrance Exam for Postgraduate
Courses’ held for the said academic year. However, in respect of candidates
belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, the
minimum marks shall be at 40 pc. In respect of candidates with locomotory
disability of lower limbs, the minimum marks shall be at 45 pc.
The
reservation of seats in medical college/Institutions for respective categories
shall be as per applicable laws prevailing in States/Union Territories. An all
India merit list as well as State-wise merit list of the eligible candidates
shall be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in All India Post Graduate
Dental Entrance Exam and candidates shall be admitted to Postgraduate courses
from the said merit lists only. 3 pc seats of the annual sanctioned intake
capacity shall be filled up by candidates with locomotory disability of lower
limbs between 50 pc and 70 pc. More details can be seen in the Prospectus.
The
Universities and other authorities concerned shall organize admission process
in such a way that teaching in postgraduate courses starts by 2nd May each
year. For this purpose, they shall strictly adhere to the time schedule annexed
with DCI Regulations, 2006 as amended from time to time. There shall be no
admission of students in respect of any academic session after beyond 31st May
for postgraduate courses under any circumstances. The Universities shall not
register any student admitted beyond the said date. The Dental Council of India
may direct, that any student identified as having obtained admission after the
last date of closure of admission be discharged from the course of study, or any
dental qualification granted to such a student shall not be a recognized
qualification for the purpose of the Dentists Act, 1948. The institution which
grants admission to any student after the last date specified for the same, and
in violation of condition of admissions as prescribed by DCI or by the State
Government/University/any Competent Authority of respective State Government,
shall also be liable to face such action as may be prescribed by DCI including
surrender of seats equivalent to the extent of such admission made from its
sanctioned intake capacity for the succeeding academic year.
Merit List for
50 pc seats under All India Quotas : The merit list of the eligible and
successful candidates who have opted for 50 pc
All India quota seats and appeared in the AIPGDEE will be prepared by
the AIIMS on the basis of the scores as mentioned above, obtained in the
AIPGDEE. The merit list will be equal to the number of seats available for
allotment in MDS courses under 50 pc All
India Quotas. There shall also be a waiting list equal to 4 times of the merit
list. The list of successful candidates (Merit List/ Waiting List) shall be
forwarded to the Medical Counseling Committee (Medical Examination Cell),
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India for the purpose of
allotment of seats by Online Counseling.
Merit list for
seats under state quota : Based on the information in respect of State Code
of Eligibility and Domicile filled in by the candidate in the application form,
AIIMS, New Delhi will prepare state level merit lists of successful Candidates
on the basis of the score obtained by the students of each state in the
AIPGDEE. The list of successful candidates from each State/UT shall be
forwarded to Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, NirmanBhawan, New Delhi
for onward transmission to the Directorate of Medical Education of the State/UT
concerned for the purpose of allotment of seats by online counseling / personal
appearance subject to applicable laws prevailing in the State/UT.
Merit list for
Seats under Armed Forces Dental Institutions : A separate merit
list of category ‘Armed Forces’,shall be provided to the Directorate General of
Dental Services for admission to Armed Forces institutions. It shall be
necessary for a Dental Officer to obtain minimum of marks at 50th percentile to
be eligible for admission in the ‘Armed Forces’ category. In case of two or
more candidates obtaining equal marks in thecompetitive entrance examination,
their inter se merit will be determined by preferring candidate scoring less
negative marks and then according to age, with the older will get preference
over younger.
