BSc (NURSING)/ GENERAL NURSING & MIDWIFERY (GNM): COURSE – 2009 (For FEMALE Candidates)
BSc Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) Course - 2009
1. Applications are invited from FEMALE candidates for admission to 4 years BSc (Nursing) course commencing in Aug 2009 at College of Nursing AFMC Pune and 3½ years Training in Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery course commencing in Sep 2009 at various Armed Forces Hospitals. Selected candidates shall execute an agreement/Bond to serve in the Military Nursing Service (MNS) for 5 years. On successful completion of Nursing Training (4/3½ yrs), the candidates will be granted commission in the Military Nursing Service, under the terms and conditions laid down for grant of such commission. They shall have to refund the entire cost of training in the event of withdrawal from the course, termination of training or refusal to accept commission in the MNS,
if offered. During training they will be provided with free ration, accommodation, uniform allowance and monthly stipend.
2. Eligibility Conditions
(a) Female who are unmarried or divorcee/legally separated or widow without encumbrances.
(b) Nationality – Indian
(c) Date of Birth - Between 01 Jan 84 and 01 Jan 92
(d) Educational Qualification – Should have passed in the FIRST ATTEMPT the complete senior secondary (10+2)/ equivalent examination from a recognized Board /University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum 50% aggregate marks as a regular student. Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing for final year of qualifying examination during the current academic session may also apply. The candidates finally selected for the course will have to submit proof of their having passed the qualifying exam before joining the course. Those who
have passed such examinations as private students or with compartment in any subject are not eligible.
(e) Physical standards – Medical fitness will be determined as per Military Standards by Military Authorities. X-Ray examination of Chest will be done. Minimum height should be 142 cms.
3. Selection: Eligible applicants will be called for an objective type written test of 90 minutes duration covering the topics in General English, Biology and General Intelligence, likely to be held in Jan/Feb 2009. The parts of question paper pertaining to Biology and General Intelligence will be bilingual. Candidates as per merit on the basis of written test will be called for interview during Mar/April 2009. Final selection will be as per combined merit, subject to medical fitness.
4. Medical Examination: After the interview the recommended candidates will have to appear for medical examination before a Special Medical Board (SMB), candidates declared FIT / UNFIT will be informed by the President of the Medical Board and regarding the procedure for requesting for APPEAL/REVIEW MEDICAL BOARD.
5. Written Examination Centers: Bangalore, Chandimandir, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Danapur, Guwahati, Jabalpur, Jammu, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Secunderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Vishakapatnam. The number of centers may change as per the number of candidates appearing for the written test.
Note: If sufficient number of candidates are not available at any centre, the candidates opting for that centre will be allotted the centre of their second choice.
6. How to apply:
(a) Apply on plain paper A4 as per the format given in the advertisement (to be typed in Block letters).
(b) Applications received after the last date, will neither be opened nor be entertained.
(c) Applications received on newspaper cutting or its photocopy will not be entertained.
7. The following is the list of enclosures to be attached (PHOTO COPIES ONLY) with the application. These documents should be neatly tagged. Similar and recent Photo on the application form as well as on the admit cards should be pasted and not stapled. DGMS- 4B will not be held responsible for loss of any documents while handling at any stage: -
(a) Attested copy of Matric/equivalent certificate, showing DATE OF BIRTH.
(b)Attested copy of complete Mark Sheet of Senior Secondary (10+2) / equiv. exam. In case subject codes and maximum marks are given on reverse side, copies of BOTH SIDES are essential. (Candidates appearing in qualifying examination (10+2) /equiv exam should enclose certificate to the same effect from the Principal of the school).
(c) Attested copy of Caste Certificate in case of SC/ST candidates.
(d) In case the time gap in 10th or 12th classes is more than two years, a certificate from concerned School / College that candidate passed complete Sr secondary Exam in the First Attempt as a regular student.

(e) Four copies of admit letters on A4 paper with passport size photo (without attestation), duly pasted in the space provided. If the photograph is not properly pasted and is stapled/loosely affixed and gets detached while in transit/handling, the application of such candidate is liable to be rejected.
(f) Four self-addressed envelopes of good quality of size 27 x 12 cms. Postal stamps of Rs 6/- be fixed on each envelope.
(g) An affidavit stating that you are issueless (incase of widows/divorcees)
(h) Legal documents of the divorcee and an affidavit that the matter is not under consideration with the higher court.
Note:- The selection of the candidate for B.sc (Nsg)/ GNM course will be however subject to producing of the mark sheet/ certificate of her passing the qualifying examination (10+2) or equivalent before her final selection and meeting all other eligibility conditions.

8. Last Date: Application on A4 paper should reach

9. The aforesaid conditions are subject to modification without notice, if deemed necessary.
10. No correspondence will be entertained from the candidates whose applications have been rejected.
