15% merit seats for MBBS/BDS in the Medical/Dental Colleges of India
The All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination for filling up the 15% merit seats for MBBS/BDS in the Medical/Dental Colleges of India coming within the purview of the Examinations will be held in two stages on 3.4.2010 and 16.5.2010.
The Preliminary Examination, consisting of one paper containing 200 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) with four options including a single correct answer, to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only will be held from 10 am to 1 pm on 3rd April, 2010 (Saturday) at Itanagar (Code-01), Agartala (02), Port Blair (03), Shillong (04), Imphal (05), Panajj (06), Puducherry (07), Guwahati (08), Trivandrum (09), Cochin (10), Bhubaneshwar (11), Chennai (12), Patna (13), Ranchi (14), Mumbai (15), Nagpur (16), Ahmedabad (17), Shimla (18), Lucknow (19), Noida (20), Dehradun (21), Chandigarh (22), Delhi (23), Kolkata (24), Bangaluru (25), Bhopal (26), Raipur (27) and Jaipur (28).
The Final Examination, for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination, consisting of one paper containing 120 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology), with four options with single correct answer, to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only, will be held at Cochin (Code- 51), Bhubaneshwar (52), Chennai (53), Ranchi (54), Mumbai (55), Lucknow (56), Delhi (57), Kolkata (58), Bhopal (59) and Jaipur (60) from 10 am to 1 pm on 16th May, 2010 (Sunday).
Applicants should select three convenient city codes for Preliminary Examination and two city codes for Final Examination. Applicants can opt for Question Papers either in English or in Hindi and the option should be exercised while filling in the Application Form. The syllabus of the Examination is given in the Information Brochure.
Eligibility:
Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian National
Age: Applicant should complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course. The upper age limit is 25 years as on 31st December of the year of the entrance examination, relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST/OBC. So, applicant should have been born between 31.12.80 and 31.12.93 (SC/ST/OBC Category)/31.12.85 and 31.12.93.
Number of Attempts: The maximum number of attempts is limited to 3 uniformly for all the candidates.
Domicile: Students from the States of Andhra Pradesh/J&K are not eligible, as both these States had opted out of All India Scheme since its inception. If they claim eligibility they must submit an Affidavit, in original, in the prescribed Proforma on Rs 10/- Non-Judicial Stamp Paper duly sworn before and attested by a Metropolitan Magistrate/First Class Judicial Magistrate to the effect that (a) They are not eligible to compete for MBBS/BDS seats in the States of Andhra Pradesh/J&K and hence not eligible to seek admission in Medical/Dental Colleges of Andhra Pradesh/J&K and (b) They are not domiciled in Andhra Pradesh/J&K.
Academic Qualifications/Qualifying examinations:
Applicant should have passed any one of the following examinations
(i) The Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (including practical in these subjects) and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the NCERT after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education. (If the course content is not as prescribed for 10 +2 education structure of the National Committee, the candidates will have to undergo as a period of one year Pre - Professional training before admission to the Medical Colleges) (Code-01).
(ii) The Intermediate/Pre-degree Examination in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognised examining body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (which shall include practical test in these subjects) and English (Code-02).
(iii) The Pre-Professional/Pre-Medical Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination or the Pre-University or an equivalent examination. The Pre-professional/Pre-Medical examination shall include practical test in these subjects (Code-03)
(iv) The first year of the 3 years' Degree course of a recognised University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical tests in these subjects provided the examination is a University Examination and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (Code-04)
(v) B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. Examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (Code-05)
(vi) Any other examination which in scope and standard (Last 02 years of 10+2 Study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology, which shall include practical test in these subjects) is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical tests in each of these subjects and English.
(vii) A candidate who is taking up the qualifying examination prior to the competitive test or whose result is awaited may also apply and take up the said test. He/she shall not be eligible for admission to the MBBS or BDS, if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination with the required pass percentage of marks at the time of first round of allotment by personal appearance )(Code-07).
Marks in Qualifying Examination: An applicant must have passed any of the qualifying examinations and must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and obtained a minimum of 50% marks [40 % for SC/ST/OBC applicants and 45% for Gen-PH and 40% for SCPH/ STPH/OBCPH (PH- Persons with locomotory disability of lower limbs)] in Physics, Chemistry and Biology together at the qualifying examination. Indian Nationals educated abroad must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English up to the 12th Standard with 50% marks. Their equivalency will be determined as per Regulations of the Medical Council of India and the concerned University.
Reservation: 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates and 7.5% for ST candidates. 27% seats are reserved for non-creamy layer OBC candidates in Central Educational Institutions only. 3% seats are reserved on horizontal basis for PH candidates.

A grace time of 15 days will be allowed to the candidates belonging to remote areas viz. Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Lahaul and Spiti Districts and Pangi sub-division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep for submission of the application. Application Form will not be received personally from candidates.
Candidates may retain the photocopy of the filled-in Application Form/Computer generated Application Form, Proof of remitting fee and the original receipt issued by the Post office for having despatched the Application Form to the Board.
Receipt of applications: Confirmation of the Application Forms received by the Board would be hosted in the website within 15 days time from the last date of receipt of the Application Forms, positively. If it is noted therein that 'Form is not received', against any candidate who had sent Application Form through Speed Post/Registered Post, the applicant should contact the Board latest by 29.01.2010 with Photocopy of the filled-in Application Form and Original receipt issued by the Post Office for having despatched the Application Form (In case Application Form is submitted Offline) and Photocopy of the Computer generated filled in Application Form, Original receipt issued by the Post Office for having dispatched the Application Form and Proof of fee paid (Photocopy of the Demand Draft, if fees remitted through DD/Photocopy of the statement of the Card if fee is paid through Credit Card), in case Application Form is submitted Online.
Admit Card: Admit Card bearing the candidate's Roll number, Name, Father's name, Category, Sub-Category, photograph, signatures, Date of Birth, language of question paper and Name and address of AIPMT centre allotted for the Preliminary Examination, will be sent to the candidates by post. In case the Admit card for Preliminary Examination is not received by 17th March 2010, candidate should contact the Board between 18.03.2010 and 29.03.2010.
Candidates who qualify for the Final Examination will be issued a separate Admit Card indicating the new roll number and other details. If the Admit Card for the AIPMT Final Examination is not received by 3rd May 2010, the candidate should contact the Board between 4.5.2010 and 10.5.2010. Duplicate Admit Card for both Preliminary & Final Examinations would not be issued at the Examination Centres.
Appearing for the Examination: The Examination Hall will be opened 30 minutes before the commencement of the test. A candidate who does not possess the Admit Card issued by the Board will not be admitted to the Examination Hall. A candidate who comes after the commencement of the examination will not be permitted to sit for the examination. Candidates can carry only the Admit Card, a Card board or a Clip board so that they have no difficulty in writing responses in the Answer Sheet even if the tables provided in the Examination Hall do not have smooth surface and Ball Point Pens of good quality, to the examination hall. They must sign twice in the Attendance Sheet, immediately after the commencement of Examination and while delivering the Answer Sheet. Candidates are also required to put their left hand thumb impression in the space provided on the Attendance Sheet.
Results: The result of Preliminary Examination will be declared by the 3rd week of April, 2010 and that of Final Examination by 1st week of June, 2010.

The lists of successful candidates of Preliminary and Final Examinations will be prepared on the basis of the eligibility criteria provided by the Medical Council of India as given in Graduate Medical Education Regulations-1997 issued under All India Medical Council Act-1956.
Accordingly, a candidate must secure not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology taken together in the competitive examination (40% for SC/ST/OBC and 45% for Gen-PH and 40% for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH).
A list of successful candidates qualifying for the Final Examination will be prepared based on the score obtained in the Preliminary Examination. Similarly, a list of successful candidates in order of merit based on the score obtained in the Final Examination will be prepared by the Board. The merit list will be equal to the number of seats available for allotment in MBBS/BDS courses under 15% All India Quota. There shall also be a waiting list equal to the 100% of the merit list.
In case two or more candidates obtain equal marks in the Final Examination,
(i) Candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the entrance examination
A list of successful candidates qualifying for the Final Examination will be prepared based on the score obtained in the Preliminary Examination. Similarly, a list of successful candidates in order of merit based on the score obtained in the Final Examination will be prepared by the Board. In case two or more candidates obtain equal marks in the Final Examination,
(i) Candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the entrance examination
(ii) then Candidates obtaining higher marks in Chemistry in the entrance examination
(iii) then Candidates older in age and then
(iv) Candidates securing higher marks in Preliminary Examination in this order will be placed higher in ranking.
Seat Allotment: Counseling would be conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services, the details of which would be supplied to the candidates during the Final Examinations, in the form of Information Booklet. Information would also be available on DGHS website. Candidates placed in Merit/ Wait List should read the booklet and understand the course of action to be taken by them for appearing in the Counselling. Any query related to Counseling may be referred to 'The Assistant Director General(ME) Directorate General of Health Services, Nirman Bhawan New Delhi-110002' (Phone No.011-23062493, 23061907) at that time. Counselling will be held by personal appearance through Video-Conferencing, tentatively from Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai with Main counselling venue at CHEB Building, Aiwan-E-Galib Marg, Kotla Road, Opposite Mata Sundary College for Women, New Delhi-110 002. Candidates have to mention the code of their counselling venue at the appropriate place in the Application Form. Counselling will be strictly done at the venue as opted by the candidate in Application Form. No change in the venue of the counselling will be allowed under any circumstances.

Seat Allotment: Counseling would be conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services, the details of which would be supplied to the candidates during the Final Examinations, in the form of Information Booklet. Information would also be available on DGHS website. Candidates placed in Merit/ Wait List should read the booklet and understand the course of action to be taken by them for appearing in the Counselling. Any query related to Counseling may be referred to 'The Assistant Director General(ME) Directorate General of Health Services, Nirman Bhawan New Delhi-110002' (Phone No.011-23062493, 23061907) at that time. Counselling will be held by personal appearance through Video-Conferencing, tentatively from Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai with Main counselling venue at CHEB Building, Aiwan-E-Galib Marg, Kotla Road, Opposite Mata Sundary College for Women, New Delhi-110 002.
