Eligibility for admission to Biological Sciences is 60% narks in Masters in any branches of Biology, life sciences and bioinformatics. Student with masters in any branches of natural or computer sciences with interest in pursuing career in biology can also apply for the course.
For applying to Chemical Sciences, candidates have to possess 60% marks in M. Sc. Or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Physics, Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, any one of the subject. For admission to Mathematical Sciences 60% marks is needed in M. Sc. or equivalent degree in Mathematics.
Apart from the above qualification, the candidates should have qualified the CSIRNET/ GATE/ NBHM or equivalent examination valid for the current year in the relevant area of research. UGC-CSIR JRF qualified candidates can avail the fellowship directly from UGC or CSIR, whereas, students selected for Ph.D program based on GATE scores, are eligible for fellowship from NISER.

The form can also be obtained by post, or in person, from the academic section, NISER, Institute Of Physics Campus, PO- Sainik School, Sachivalaya Marg, Bhubaneswar. There is no application/entrance fee. To and Fro single 2nd sleeper Class railway fare will be provided to those candidates who are called for the test/interview.
Last date to submit the filled-in application form to Administrative Officer-III, (Academic & Student Affairs), National Institute of Science Education and Research, Institute of Physics Campus P.O. , Sainik School, Bhubaneswar – 751005, Orissa, is November, 8, 2010.
