M.Sc., M. Tech, and Ph.D. Admissions 2011
Applications have been invited by NIT, Silchar for admission into 1st semester M. Sc. in Applied Chemistry, M. Tech. and Ph.D. programmes in Engineering, and Ph.D. in Science and Humanities Deptts for the July-December 2011 Session.
Minimum Qualification for Admission
1. M. Sc.:Bachelor’s degree in Science with at least 50% marks or 5.5 in CPI/CGPA (with honours) in Chemistry. The students whose qualifying results are awaited are also eligible to apply.
2. M.Tech: Students for admission to the M.Tech. Programme in Engineering Departments must satisfy the following criteria:
(i) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area, or an MCA (for the Department of CSE) with at least 60% marks or equivalent.
(ii) Valid GATE score for Regular (full-time) students for receiving Institute Assistantship only.
3. Ph.D: Students for admission to Ph.D. Programme in Engineering Departments must satisfy one of the following criteria:
(i) Masters Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or equivalent (60% of marks).
(ii) Bachelors Degree in Engineering/Technology with an excellent academic record and with a CPI of at least 8 or equivalent (70% of marks)
Students for admission to the Ph.D. Programme in Science Departments must have a Master degree in the relevant discipline with a first class or a minimum of 60% of marks or equivalent. Students for admission to the Ph.D. Programme in Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Departments must have a Masters degree with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent.

Application Form is also available in the office of the Dean (Academic) free of cost. Candidates interested to collect the form by post should send a self-addressed A4 size envelop affixing stamps of Rs.50.00.
The Filled up Application Form must be accompanied with an Application Fee of Rs.500/- (for General/OBC) OR Rs.300/- (for SC/ST) in the form of crossed Demand Draft in favour of Director, N.I.T. Silchar, cashable at S.B.I., NIT Silchar. Application form complete in all respects should reach the Heads of the respective Deptts, N.I.T. Silchar, within 20th April, 2011 by superscribing 'Application for admission into ...... programme under _______________ Dept., on the envelope.
