All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination- 2012 (AIPMT 2012)
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited applications for the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination- 2012 (AIPMT 2012) for admission to the 15% All India Quota seats in the Medical/Dental Colleges of India as specified in the directive of the Supreme Court of India.
Scheme of Examination: The entrance examination will be held in two stages. The first stage consists of a Preliminary Examination, to be held from 10 am to 1 pm on 1.4.2012 at Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bangaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Panaji, Patna, Port Blair, Puducherry, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Trivandrum, and Riyad. It would consist of one paper of 3 hours duration, containing 200 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only.
The second stage of the Examination, the AIPMT Final Examination, for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination, to be held from 10 am to 1 pm on 13.5.2012, at Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Ranchi would also consist of one paper containing 120 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only.
Scoring: Each correct answer will fetch 4 marks. For each incorrect response, one mark will be deducted from the total score. No deduction from the total score will, however, be made if no response is indicated for an item in the answer sheet. The candidate will not do any rough work or writing work on the Answer Sheet. All rough work is to be done in the Test Booklet itself.
Candidates can opt for Question Papers either in English or in Hindi. This option should be exercised while filling in the Application Form. It cannot be changed later. Candidates opting for English would be provided Test Booklet in English only and the candidates opt for Hindi would be provided Test Booklet in both Hindi and English (Bilingual).
Syllabus: The Syllabus is common to both Preliminary and Final Examination and is available in the Information Brochure.
Minimum Mark: The lists of successful candidates of Preliminary Examination and Final Examination will be prepared on the basis of the eligibility criteria provided by the Medical Council of India as given in Graduate Medical Education Regulations-1997 issued under All India Medical Council Act-1956. Accordingly, a candidate must obtain a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the Entrance examination. SC/ST/OBC category candidates need minimum of 40% marks in Entrance examination to be considered for ranking. Persons with locomotory disability of lower limbs need a minimum of 45% marks for Gen-PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH in the Entrance Examination.
Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian Citizen. Students from the States of Andhra Pradesh/J&K are not eligible for AIPMT examination, as both these States had opted out of All India Scheme since its inception. If they claim eligibility, they must submit an affidavit, in original, in the Proforma on Rs 10/- Non-Judicial Stamp Paper duly sworn before and attested by a Metropolitan Magistrate/First Class Judicial Magistrate to the effect that, (a) They are not eligible to appear for MBBS/BDS seats in the States of Andhra Pradesh/J&K and hence not eligible to seek admission in Medical/ Dental Colleges of Andhra Pradesh/J&K and (b) They are not domiciled in Andhra Pradesh/ J&K.
Age: Applicant should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or should be completing the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course (31.12.2012). The upper age limit for All India Pre-Medical /Pre-Dental Entrance Examination is 25 years as on 31st December of the year of the entrance examination (31.12.2012). SC/ST/OBC Category applicants get a 5 year relaxation in the upper age limit. So Applicants belonging to the SC/ST/OBC Category having date of birth between 01.01.83 and 01.01.96 and those belonging to the Other category having date of birth between 01.01.88 and 01.01.96 are eligible to apply for AIPMT 2012.
Qualifying Examination: Applicant should have passed any one of the qualifying examinations listed below.
(i)The Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education. Where the course content is not as prescribed for 10 +2 education structure of the National Committee, the candidates will have to undergo a period of one year pre - professional training before admission to the Medical Colleges.
(ii)The Intermediate/Pre-degree Examination in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology (which shall include practical test in these subjects) and English.
(iii)The Pre-professional/Pre-medical Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology & English after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination or the Pre-University or an equivalent examination. The Pre-professional/Pre-medical examination shall include practical test in these subjects.
(iv)The first year of the three years’ degree course of a recognised University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology including practical tests in these subjects provided the examination is a University Examination and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English.
(v)B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. Examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Bio-technology and further that he/ she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
(vi)Any other examination which in scope and standard (Last 02 years of 10+2 Study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology; Which shall include practical test in these subjects.) is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology including practical tests in each of these subjects and English.
A candidate who is appearing in the qualifying 12th Standard examination, in 2012 whose result is awaited, may also apply and take up the said test but he/she shall not be eligible for admission to the MBBS or BDS, if he/she does not pass the qualifying examination with the required pass percentage of marks at the time of first round of allotment by personal appearance.
Marks in Qualifying Examination: Candidate must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English individually at the qualifying examination and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Bio-technology at the qualifying examination. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC need only 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology /Bio-technology taken together in qualifying examination. For persons with locomotory disability of lower limbs, minimum of 45% marks for Gen-PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH is required.
Reservation: Seats are reserved for various categories as per Government of India rules.
Application Fee: Application Fee without late fee is Rs.1000/- for General/OBC applicants and Rs.550/- for SC/ST/PH applicants. Fee inclusive of the first late fee of Rs.500/- would be Rs.1500/- for General/OBC applicants and Rs.1050/- for SC/ST/PH applicants. Fee inclusive of the first late fee of Rs.1000/- would be Rs.2000/- for General/OBC applicants and Rs.1550/- for SC/ST/PH applicants. In addition to examination fee, service/processing charges will also have to be paid by the applicant for online payment of fee through Debit/Credit Card along with Service Tax, as applicable. Application: Application can be submitted only on-line at www.aipmt.nic.in. Before submission of application form, applicant must decide the mode of payment of fee, which can be done through Debit/Credit Card using on-line gateway payment facility or through Demand Draft. If it is decided to pay fee through Debit/Credit Card, the validity of the Card may be checked and the same may be keep ready while logging on to website for submitting application form. If it has been decided to pay fee through Demand Draft, it has to be obtained for the applicable fee from any nationalized bank in the name of Secretary, CBSE payable at Delhi. Applicant must write his/her name, address, contact no. and application no. on the back of the Demand Draft. In case of double payment by Card, request of refund will only be considered after 15th March, 2012. Request can be made to the Deputy Secretary (AIPMT) in writing by annexing the proof of double payment.
Applicant should first log on to website www.aipmt.nic.in and go to the link ‘Apply On-line’ and open the same. He/She must read the instructions and procedure for on-line submission of application form carefully. At the end of the process, Take prints out of Confirmation page(s) and send to CBSE.
The Application Form duly filled-in along with other documents, if any, should reach ‘The Deputy Secretary (AIPMT Unit), CBSE, Shiksha Kendra, 2, Community Centre, Preet Vihar, Delhi-110 301’ by Registered Post/Speed Post only so as to reach there latest by 02.02.2012 (if fee is paid without late fee), 15.02.2012 (if fee paid with first late fee) and 02.03.2012 (if fee is paid with second late fee) respectively. Last date of receipt of application form In CBSE from remote areas would be 17.02.2012, 29.02.2012 and 2.03.2012 respectively for the three cases.
