Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221005, has notified the admission to the MBBS/BDS/BAMS/B.Pharm Courses at the Institute, for 2012. Admission to the Programmes will be based on All India Competitive Written Test. Admission to the MBBS course, having 84 seats will be based on a two stage Test, the PMT-2012 Screening and PMT-2012 Main.

Admission to BDS (38 seats), BAMS (50 seats) and B. Pharm. (33 seats) courses will be based on the single stage Entrance, PMT-2012 Screening. The number of seats in BAMS course may increase subject to approval by the Central Council of Indian Medicine.

PMT-2012 Screening will be held at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad on 16th May 2012 (Wednesday), to screen candidates for eligibility to appear in PMT-2012 Main examination for MBBS course which will be held on 17th June 2012 (Sunday) at Varanasi only.

For BDS/BAMS/B.Pharm Courses, candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit in the PMT-2012 Screening only.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicant should have completed 17 years but not crossed 25 years as on 31st December, 2012. Those born after 1st January, 1996 and on or before 31st December, 1987 are not eligible to apply.

Applicant should have passed Intermediate/10+2/equivalent examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together. For MBBS/BDS/BAMS, applicant should also have a minimum of 50% marks for General and 45% for General-PC candidates and 40% marks for OBC(NCL)/SC/ST and respective PC candidates.

For B.Pharm applicant should have a minimum of 60% marks for General / OBC and respective PC candidates and 55% marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply. Distribution of Seats: M.B.B.S (84 seats): General-42; OBC-23; SC-13 and ST-6; BDS (38 seats): General-19; OBC-10; SC-6 and ST-3.

BAMS (50 seats): General-25; OBC-13; SC-8 and ST-4.

B.Pharm. (33 seats): General-17; OBC-9; SC-5 and ST-2.

Three percent seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (PC) candidates on horizontal basis in the above courses.

Application Form: Application from will cost Rs. 1500/- for GEN/OBC and Rs. 1000/- for SC/ST candidates. Application Form will be on sale from 9.1.2012 to 5.3.2012, from designated Branches of Bank of Baroda as per the list mentioned below:

Application Form can be obtained from Bank of Baroda, BHU Branch, S.S. Hospital, Varanasi upto 12.03.2012.

Applications can be obtained by Post from the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221005, till 27.02.2012, by sending by Registered Post, a Crossed Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque (MICR only), of a Nationalized Bank, drawn in favour of ‘The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU’, payable at Varanasi, for Rs. 1600/- for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 1100 for SC/ST candidates along with a written request that includes the Name and address of the candidate, and also the full particulars of the enclosed DD/BC with candidate’s name and address written on the back of DD and two, self-addressed, preferably typed, white paper slips of 10 cm ´ 6 cm size, in a cover super-scribed ‘Request for Application Form for PMT-2012, BHU’. Application form will be sent by Speed / Registered Post.

Application Forms from the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi-221005 can be obtained up to 27.02.2012, by Post only and not in person.

Application form duly completed must be sent by Registered Post so as to reach The Director (PMT Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005, latest by 15.03.2012.

Foreign Nationals are not required to appear in the PMT examination for MBBS/BDS/BAMS courses. They may seek admission through the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi, as per the rules laid down for the purpose and their nomination must reach by 15.07.2012. More details will be available in the Prospectus.
