Dear Students,
We are happy to inform you that Aichi Prefectural Government, Japan invites applications for the award of Aichi Scholarship 2014. This scholarship assistance will be given to those who are interested to do their higher studies in Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan sponsored by Aichi Industries. Japan.

Eligibility :
Applicants must be a citizen of India.
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree or pursuing Final Year.
Applicants must not be receiving scholarships or grants from any other organization.
including the Japanese government and the government of their home country
Applicants must be able to go to Japan in October 2014 on a day to be designated by the
Governor.
The students can choose his/her course from the following:
Department of Engineering Physics, Electronics and Mechanics
Department of Computer Science and Engineering
Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
Department of Techno-Business Administration.

Prospectus for 2014 International Graduate Program for
MONOZUKURI

1. General Information
Nagoya is at the heart of Japan’s industrial area, and famous as the heart of the Japanese manufacturing industry. Nagoya Institute of Technology (NITech) is the longest established national higher education institute of engineering in this area. Many of our alumni are working with major companies related to the manufacturing industry.
Because Japanese manufacturing industry is rapidly expanding its business worldwide, especially into Asian countries, NITech has launched a master course program for manufacturing technology. The program is designed for overseas students who want to develop a career in the Japanese manufacturing industry.
The following 26 major companies will cooperate with us and they will offer students the opportunity of an internship at a Japanese company. The graduates of this program are recommended to be employed by these companies.

2. Program
 This program is based on the curriculum of the existing master's courses and it also offers some additional subjects aimed to produce efficient engineers for the manufacturing industry. The students can choose his/her course from the following:
a) Department of Engineering Physics, Electronics and Mechanics
 b) Department of Computer Science and Engineering
 c) Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
d) Department of Techno-Business Administration.
e) Management Engineering Course of Department of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Industrial Management Engineering
f) Department of Frontier Materials
g) Department of Scientific and Engineering Simulation.
 The introduction of each department can be seen on the NITech 's website.

 Besides the existing curriculum of each master's course, the students will take the following special subjects.
 (1) Subjects of Production Engineering
 1) A "General Introduction of Automotive Engineering" is given for all students.
2) A "Special study of Production Engineering" is given in each department
 (2) Subjects related to Management of Technology
 Students should choose 2 subjects related to Management of Technology such as "Quality Control (QC) and Improvement", "Business planning and Management", "Developing Strategy", etc.
 (3) A special program offering practical experience in the factory  This special program is given so that students can see how QC and daily improvement activities are carried out in the factory of Japanese company.
 (4) Business Japanese
 A special business Japanese course including guidance about Japanese business practice is offered for all students.
 (5) Internship
 All students should carry out his/her internship in an automotive company listed above.
(6) Thesis
 All students should write his/her thesis on a specific theme related to manufacturing technology in each specialized field of study.

 The duration of this program is two years from April of 2015 to March of 2017. Before entrance to the program, a preparatory Japanese course starts from October of 2014 and all students are expected to take it.
 Students are not required to possess a background knowledge of Japanese, but a strong will to study Japanese is required. In principle, all the lectures of this program are given in Japanese.


3. Aichi Scholarship
NITech recommends excellent applicants to the Aichi Prefectural Government, within the limits of this program. As a consequence, all students accepted to this program are granted Aichi Scholarship.
The monthly stipend of the scholarship is 150,000 JPY. This amount is subject to change according to the rules of the Aichi Prefectural Government. The scholarship is provided from October 2014 to March 2017.
Students are not required to pay entrance examination fee, admission fee, tuition fee and travel expenses to Japan.

 4. Qualifications
(1) Citizenship: Applicants must hold citizenship of, and currently reside in, one of the following Asian countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, East Timor, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, or Vietnam.
(2) Age: Applicants must be under 35 years of age as of April 1, 2014, i.e. born on or after April 2, 1979.
(3) Academic Degree: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent thereof.
(4) Field of Study: Applicants must study a subject recognized as pertinent to the support of Aichi’s manufacturing industry.
(5) Health: Applicants must be healthy, both mentally and physically.
(6) Japanese Language Ability: Applicants must have a fairly good command of the Japanese language to study and seek employment in Aichi, or have the prospect of obtaining sufficient language ability.
(7) Post-Scholarship Employment: Applicants must have the intention to seek employment at a company that has its headquarters or a branch office located within Aichi (whether or not work placement should fall in Japan).
(8) Internships: During their course of study, applicants must participate in an internship program offered by companies introduced by the Aichi Prefectural Government.
(9) Other Scholarships:
a. Applicants must not be receiving scholarships or grants from any other organization, including the Japanese government and the government of their home country.
b. Spouses of students currently receiving scholarship money from the Aichi Prefectural Government are not eligible to apply.
(10) Date of Arrival: Applicants must be able to come to Japan in October 2014 on a day to be designated by the Governor.  

5. Application Procedure (subject to change)
The applicant should contact the academic advisor first, and obtain the approval of the academic advisor on his/her study in this program. Next, the applicant should send the following documents to the International Student Affairs Office of NITech (see the contact address shown in 7) by April 23, 2014.
Note: If it is difficult to submit some of these documents before the closing date for an unavoidable reason, please consult with the academic advisor in advance.
 (a) Application form (Form 1)
(b) Pledge (Form 2)
(c) Medical certificate (Form 3, or a similar form issued within the past six (6) months) (d) Proof of graduation (copy of certificate of graduation, diploma, or degree) or a certificate of student status and proof of expected graduation (if the applicant is in college) (e) Academic record issued by the university from which applicant graduated (f) Certified copy of passport (if the applicant does not have a passport upon application, a certified copy of the applicant's birth certificate or a citizenship certificate will be sufficient) (g) Recommendation by the dean/department chairperson (or person of higher position) of
the university department from which the applicant graduated.
 (h) Four (4) photographs (4 cm by 3 cm, taken within the last six (6) months. In the photos, the applicant must be facing forward, the upper torso and face must be clearly visible, and the applicant must not be wearing a hat. The applicant’s name and nationality must be written on the back of each photo. One (1) of these photos should be attached to the application in the space provided.)

Note1) The above documents should be written in Japanese or English and typed if possible.
Note2) If “14 Proposed Study Plan” or “15 Proposed Work Plan After Completing the Program” in the (a) application form or (g) Recommendation by the dean/department chairperson is written in English, please attach a Japanese translation prepared by the recommending organization.
Note3) Documents will not be returned once they are submitted.
Note4) Incomplete documents or applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.


6. Accommodation
 NITech has a dormitory called “International House” for international students in the main campus. Although the number of rooms available is limited, most of the graduate students can stay in the dormitory for a half year during their course.
