Post- Doctoral Fellowship for Women
University Grants Commission has invited
applications from unemployed women candidates holding Ph.D degree in their
respective subject areas, for award of the Post-Doctoral Fellowship for Woman,
with an aim to accelerate the talented instincts of the women candidates to
carry out the advanced studies and research.
The main objective of the award is to provide an
opportunity to women to carry out advanced studies and research in science,
engineering and technology, humanities and social sciences in Indian
Universities and Colleges recognized under Section 2 (f) and fit to receive
assistance under section 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956/Institutes of National
Importance established by the Central/State Government.
Applicant must have a Doctorate degree in the
relevant subject preferably, with published research work to their credit.
Applicant should have scored a minimum of 55% marks at UG level and 60% of
marks at PG level In case of general/open category. For reserved categories
(SC/ST/OBC/PH) candidates, 50% at UG level and 55% at PG level are necessary.
The upper age limit as on 1st July of the year of
application is 55 years for those belonging to general/open category and 60
years for applicants of SC/ST/OBC/PH/Minority communities. The number of fellowships
available is 100 per year. The tenure of the award is five years with no
provision for further extension.
The Fellowship amount will be Rs.25,000/--p.m for
fresh candidates and Rs.30,000/--p.m for research experienced holders. All
those selected will get a contingency grant of Rs.50000/- per year.
Departmental assistance & Escorts/Reader assistance also come with the
Fellowship.
In cases where the Post-Doctoral Fellow is provided
with accommodation in hostel recognized/ maintained by the institutions, the
hostel fee, excluding mess, electricity, water charges, etc. may be reimbursed.
A certificate to this effect is to be furnished through the
Registrar/Director/Principal in Annexure-II available in the document given at

If the Post-Doctoral Fellow makes her own
arrangements of accommodation, she may be entitled to draw HRA as per
categorization of the cities by the Government of India. The Post-Doctoral
Fellow will submit a certificate for this purpose to the UGC for claiming HRA
through the concerned University/Institution/College.
Application has to be submitted online at http://www.ugc.ac.in/pdfw/registration.aspx, latest by 16th August, 2014. Applicant will be
required to upload scanned copies (i) Certificate to prove age (One of Xth
certificate, School Leaving Certificate etc) (ii) Mark sheet of Graduation
& Post Graduation (iii) Ph.D Awarded Certificate (iv) Caste Certificate (in
Case of SC/ST/OBC) (v) Physical Disability Certificate (if applicable) while
applying online. Applicants will not be
able to submit her application unless above mentioned documents are uploaded.
Online application is to be completed in 4 steps.
In Step-1, applicant will be required to fill-in personal Information including
caste and physical disability certificate (if applicable). Subsequently, a
candidate registration id is generated on completion of step 1. This can be
used for generating a pdf file once submission process is completed. In Step-2,
applicant will be required to fill-in her Research related Information
including academic qualification. In Step-3, Other Information will have to be
filled up. In Step-4, the declaration of the applicant has to be submitted.
