Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) notifies Admission for PhD programme in Science Education 2015

Areas of Research
i. Teaching and learning of science and mathematics from primary to undergraduate level ii. Innovative curricula, laboratories, teaching and assessment methods iii. Development of scientific and mathematical thinking in students at school and college level iv. Design and technology in the curriculum v. Visual and spatial modes in learning vi. Socio-cultural and gender factors in learning vii. Structure and dynamics of knowledge

Eligibility
M.Sc (in any subject), M.S.W., M.A. (in Congnitive Science, Psychology, Education) or B.Tech / B.E./MBBS or equivalent

Exam Fee: Rs.400/- to be paid online or through Demand Draft (in favour of Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR and payable at Mumbai)

Note: This is a programme in education. It is not a pure or applied science research programme

Scholarships
Students receive a monthly scholarship of Rs.16000/- (enhanced to Rs.18000/- after registration) and an annual contingency grant of Rs.20000/- Accommodation may be provided on campus at nominal cost. In lieu of accommodation HRA amounting to 30% of the fellowship will be paid

Admissions are made initially for one year, renewable annually up to a maximum of five years

Purav Marg, Mankhurd, Mumbai-400088 A written test for eligible applicants will be held at seven Centres around the country: Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata and Guwahati (provisional) You may find the details and format of written test from http://www.hbcse.tifr.res.in/graduate-school/examinfo Those who qualify will be called for an interview
