Kerala Media Academy: Candidates can apply for PG Diploma Admission
Applications are invited for admission to PG Diploma Course conducted by the Institute of Communication, Kerala Media Academy, a State Government Institution.
Applications for the Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism & Communication, Television Journalism, Public Relations & Advertising can be submitted online till August 21, 2021.
The basic qualification is a degree in any subject. Those who have appeared for the final year graduation examination and are awaiting the results can also apply. Must not be over 35 years of age on 31.5.2021. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, O.E.C. The category will have a 2 year grace period. There will also be a fee waiver for this category. . Admission will be on the basis of aptitude test and interview.
The entrance test will be conducted online.
The Journalism & Communication Course is a comprehensive curriculum that provides training in various areas of journalism, including print journalism, radio, online, social media, broadcast journalism, and mobile journalism.
Television journalism is a course that provides comprehensive practical training in the areas of television journalism, news anchoring, video camera, video editing, documentary production, media convergence, mobile journalism, and more.
The Public Relations & Advertising course focuses on practical training in the latest trends in the field of public relations and advertising. She also specializes in journalism, creative writing, podcasting, digital marketing and ad film making.
The duration of the course is one year. In the Covid case, classes will be conducted online until government approval is granted to start classes on campus.

The application fee is Rs.300 / - (Rs.150 / - for SC, ST and OEC) and the document paid through e-transfer / GP / Bank should be uploaded with the application.

Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Communication
Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Communication is specifically designed for the students who are aspiring to be print and digital media persons. The course gives specific training in field reporting, news editing, feature writing, specialized reporting, digital media practices including mobile journalism, media convergence, basics of broadcast journalism and basic skills on public relations. After completing the course the students will get a solid foundation to work in both print and digital media. The course provides the students with skills in handling news rooms with confidence and professional attitude.
Post Graduate Diploma in Television Journalism
Post Graduate Diploma in Television Journalism is structured to develop television media professionals. The students will get foundational knowledge in television news reporting, news bulletin production, newsroom management, digital visual editing and practical training in electronic news gathering camera, run down management and multi-camera shoot. The curriculum of the course insists a Learning by Doing process and the participants of the course will get real hands on training in Television story telling including making documentaries and current affairs programmes.
Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations and Advertising
Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations and Advertising is intended to inculcate training in both creative and marketing learning practices and caters specifically to the growing demands of both advertising and public relations professionals. The course gives In-depth training in public relations skills, corporate communication skills and production of advertising for both print and electronic media, creative writing and cultural studies. The course also provides basic knowledge in journalism and specific training in digital media including web management, digital campaigning and digital marketing.

Basic Qualification:
You must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Students who have appeared in their final examination can apply for the entrance examination conducted by the Institute of Communication. However, their final admission will be approved only after submitting the original certificates of graduation.
Selection Method:
Institute of Communication admits the students for PG Diploma courses through an online examination. The examination will have objective type questions on general knowledge, current affairs, socio-political awareness, knowledge about media and language proficiency. Those who have cleared the entrance examination need to appear for an interview and final selection will be based on the performance in the interview.
Medium of Instruction:
At the Institute of Communication medium of instruction is Malayalam. Students who are not fluent in Malayalam will be explained in English. Examinations can be written both in Malayalam and English. The questions of the entrance examination will be in English, but there will a small section to examine the Malayalam language skills.
