The Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit was established in November 1993 by an Act of Kerala State Legislature, as an institution of higher learning, with particular focus on Sanskrit language and literature, Indology, Indian Philosophy, Indian Languages, Social Sciences and other related subjects. Kalady, the birth place of the great Indian Philosopher Adi Sankaracharya, which is located on the banks of river Periyar, is the headquarters of the University. Apart from the Main Campus at Kalady, the University offers Programmes at Regional Campuses at Payyannur, Koyilandy, Tirur, Thuravoor, Ettumanoor, Panmana and Thiruvananthapuram.
PROGRAMMES OFFERED
The University offers undergraduate Programmes in the following core subjects in the Main Campus, Kalady and any one/more of the following Programmes in the Regional Campuses at Thiruvananthapuram, Panmana, Ettumanoor, Thuravoor, Koyilandy, Tirur and Payyannur. Diploma proramme willl be offered at the University Regional Campus, Ettumanoor, Kottayam District. The University is following the CBCSS (Choice Based Credit and Semester System) in all UG Programmes under Outcome Based Teaching Learning Education (OBTLE) scheme.

DIPLOMA PROGRAMME

Age: The maximum age limit should not exceed 22yrs as on 01.06.2021.
Eligibility: Those who have passed the regular +2, VHSC or an equivalent examination recognized by this University are eligible to apply. Student of Sanskrit / Non – Sanskrit stream are eligible for admission to the B.A. Degree Programmes.
Aptitude Test: For B.A. Music, B.A. Dance (Mohiniyattam / Bharatanatyam) Programmes there will be an aptitude test for admission. The Index mark for admission to these Programmes will be calculated by adding the marks obtained in the aptitude test with 50% of the aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examinations.
For BFA Programme the Aptitude Test with an aggregate marks of 100 contains both drawing and painting examinations. Both examinations have 45 marks each. The remaining 10 marks will be calculated from the marks obtained by the candidates. The admission will be purely based on the rank scored by the students the Aptitude Test and existing University regulations for admission. The candidate shall produce original qualifying mark list and T.C at the time of admission.
Reservation of Seats: Reservation of Seats will be as per the Govt./University Orders and UGC guidelines.
Weightage of Marks for admission: Those who have studied Sanskrit as optional or second language at +2 or equivalent level will be eligible for a weightage of 50 marks for admission to B.A. Degree Programme. This will be added to the total marks obtained in the qualifying examination for calculating the index mark. In the case of students, who have studied Sanskrit up to SSLS or equivalent examination, a weightage of 25 marks will be added to the total marks for admission to the BA. However the total weightage will not exceed 50 marks. For candidates with NSS/NCC certificate, weightage of marks will be given as per the relevant Government/ University Rules, orders and UGC Guidelines.

Admission to Diploma Programme
Age - Candidates who have completed 17 years of age on the date of notification shall be eligible for admission. The maximum age shall be 30.
Eligibility: Candidates who have passed +2(Plus two) or equivalent examination recognized by this University or graduates of any discipline or equivalent are eligible for admission. Those who have passed +2 through open school shall submit eligibility certificate from Kerala Higher Secondary Directorate.
Reservation of seats - Reservation of seats will be as per the Government/University Rules and UGC guidelines.
Weightage of Marks for admission: Weightage shall be given as per the existing Government/ University Orders and UGC Guidelines.
Provisional rank-list will be published in the notice-board in the respective centres/Departments. Every reasonable steps shall be taken by the University to intimate the date, time and venue for interview to the candidates provisionally selected for admission.
However, University shall not be responsible for the delay in the receipt of the intimation for interview by the candidates.
The Students admitted to the different Undergraduate/Diploma programmes shall abide by the laws of University as amended from time to time. No person shall be eligible for admission to the Diploma programme if he/she is currently on the rolls for any academic programme in another subject/discipline offered in the University or in any other institution.
HOSTEL FACILITY
Limited hostel facility is available for boys and girls at the Main Campus, Kalady, and only for girls at Regional Campus, Payyannur
HOW TO APPLY
Candidate seeking admission for BA, BFA and DIPLOMA programme shall submit the application through online in the University Websites www.ssus.ac.in or ssusonline.org on or before the last date prescribed.

The print copy of the online application shall be send to the Heads of the Departments/ Campus Director of Regional Campus along with the copy of documents and original Fee receipt.
Application Fee shall be remitted in the University account through Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit pay in slip (which can be download from the University Website) at all branches of Union Bank of India. The Fee can also be remitted through Demand Draft drawn in favour of Finance Officer Sree Sankaracharya University of Kalady payable at Union Bank of India, Kalady branch.
