IISER admissions through State, Central Boards channel

5 year BS-MS Dual Degree, Admissions 2011-2012


Candidates intending to apply for admission to the 5 year BS-MS Dual Degree Programmes at the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research at Bhopal, Pune, Kolakata, Mohali and Thiruvananthapuram can apply at the link http://iiser-admissions.in/applyboards.php on or before 8th July, 2011.

Applicants seeking admission under State/Central Boards channel should have passed Class XII in 2010 or 2011 and should have secured marks within the minimum marks stipulated for eligibility for admission, available at http://iiser-admissions.in/cut_off.php . If the marks scored in class 12 Board Examination are less than the marks specified (Marks are the total for all subjects), then such application will not be accepted.

Following three exemptions are applicable to this criterion.
(i) The cut-off for SC/ST is 60% for all Boards
(ii) For OBC (Non-creamy) and PD, a 5% relaxation of the DST cut-off is tenable subject to a minimum of 60%
(iii) Those candidates passing Class XII in 2011 and who are recipients of the eligibility note from the School Board for DST Inspire Fellowship, may also apply. Cut-off in the above link does not apply to such students.

It may be noted that eligibility does not imply that the candidate will be called for counseling or test. Only short listed candidates will be issued the call letter.

Application can be submitted online at the link available at http://iiser-admissions.in/. Entries made can be edited using the edit button and online application entries can be revised/modified, If not fully satisfied with the entries. Once the candidate is satisfied with the correctness of the entries, the candidate should click on the ‘submit’ button on the preview screen. Once the application is ‘Submit’ed, the candidate will get an Application Number and Login Password to login to the admission website. Candidate will have to use this password for all subsequent access to the admission website. If the candidate forgets the password, he/she may go to ‘Applicants Login’ page and click ‘Forgot Password’ link. Password will be sent to the candidate by email.

Candidate will be prompted to get a Bank-Pay-in Slip. Candidate should print this slip and pay the application fee of Rs.500/- (Rs.250/- for SC / ST categories) plus Rs.25/- as Bank Commission at any branch of State Bank of India after writing the Bank Branch Code and date of deposition on the pay-in-slip. While accepting the application fee, the bank official will give a Unique Journal Number on the pay-in-slip of the candidate. It has to be ensured by the candidate that the bank official has entered the Unique Journal Number on the counter foil of the pay-in-slip.

Candidate should subsequently go to the Applicants Login page at http://iiser-admissions.in/index.php. The candidate will be asked the Application Number and the Password, to login. The candidate has to enter the Unique Journal Number given by the Bank on the pay-in-slip, Bank Branch Code and the date of deposition and submit. The candidate will then be prompted to get the completed application which has to be printed on a good quality A4 size paper. On this, the candidate should paste his/her recently taken, good quality colour photo of size, 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, in the space provided. The candidate and his/her parent/guardian should sign at the bottom of the printed application.

The form has to be retained by the candidate along with the counter foil of bank pay-in-slip. The completed application form and counterfoil of bank pay-in-slip has to be submitted when reporting for counseling for verification.

Candidates should revisit the site after 3rd July 2011 and go to Applicants Login Page. If the candidate has been short-listed and the payment made has been verified by JAC, the candidate will be able to download and print out the Call Letter for counseling.
