Admission to MBBS and B.Tech under NRI quota seat for the Academic Year 2012-13.
NRI admission 2012-2013
Applications are invited for admission to MBBS and B.Tech courses under NRI quota seats in the following Professional Colleges under CAPE.

The filled up applications along with copies of credentials, application fee etc shall be submitted to the Director, CAPE, Thiruvananthapuram, for admission to MBBS course and to the Principals of respective Engineering Colleges for admission to B.Tech courses.
Candidates awaiting results of the Higher Secondary Examination can also apply for admission to MBBS and B.Tech courses under NRI quota seats in the Professional Institutions under CAPE. In such cases, they have to produce copies of the credentials on announcement of results of Higher Secondary Examination
The Admission to NRI quota seats in MBBS/BTech courses offered in these colleges are regulated by the Director, CAPE or the Principals of the Engineering College/ Medical Director, Cochin Medical College as directed by the CAPE HQ. 15% of the sanctioned intake of students in each BTech course offered in the Engineering Colleges are available for admission to NRI quota seats. Candidates shall be admitted to the 15% of the total seats available in the MBBS course. The admission to NRI quota seats in the Engineering courses will be made by the Principals of concerned Engineering colleges by preparing a list from the applications received from the eligible candidates and effect admission on merit basis. For admission to MBBS course in Cochin Medical College, Kalamassery, Kochi, the Director, CAPE, Thiruvananthapuram will prepare a list from the applications received from the eligible candidates and will make allotment thereto.
Academic eligibility for admission:
The academic qualifications for admission to NRI quota seats in the Medical / Engineering Courses are as prescribed in the Prospectus for admission to Professional Degree courses-2012 issued by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala / relevant Government orders / admission rules of CAPE which made applicable for admission to NRI quota and subject to the regulations of University to which the college is affiliated, and also subject to the rules relating to age limits and medical standards.
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination of Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or equivalent examination, with 50% marks in Biology / Biotechnology separately and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology put together, are eligible for admission to MBBS course under NRI quota seat in Cochin Medical College. Candidates who have passed the BSc Degree (Three year course) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany or Biotechnology as main and one or two of the above subjects as subsidiaries with 50% marks for Main & Subsidiaries taken together, subject to the condition that they have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examination recognized as equivalent thereto with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects are also eligible for admission.
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination of Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or examination recognized equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry / Computer Science / Biotechnology / Biology put together are eligible for admission to BTech courses in the Engineering Colleges under CAPE.
Relaxation in marks :
For all courses, candidates belonging to SEBC with a total annual family income not exceeding Rs.4.5 lakhs will have a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examinations. They need only 45% marks in the case of Mathematics / Biology and 45% marks in the case of optional subjects put together. In such cases, candidates shall produce income certificate as proof at the time of admission.
SC/ST candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination for admission to BTech course. However, for admission to MBBS course, candidates belonging to SC/ST category need 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology put together in the qualifying examination.
Other eligibility criteria :
Candidates seeking admission to MBBS / BTech NRI quota seats should be a child / ward / dependant of an NRI and should enclose a declaration from the NRI (form enclosed as Annexure-I of the prospectus), along with the application. Copy of any one of the following documents duly attested by a Gazetted Officer of Central / Sate Government to prove the NRI status should be enclosed with the application form :
i. A copy of the employment certificate
ii. A copy of the relevant pages of the passport containing Visa details
iii. Certificate issued by a Scheduled Bank stating that he/she is a Non Resident Indian holding NRI Account other than a Zero balance account.
Age limit :
Applicants should have completed 17 years of age as on 31.12.2012. No age relaxation in the minimum age will be allowed.
Application form & fee :
The application form for admission to BTech / MBBS courses can either be downloaded from www.capekerala.or g or from the official website of CAPE Institutions. The application fee for MBBS / BTech courses under NRI quota seats is Rs.1000/- and Rs.600/- respectively. Separate application and application fee should be remitted for MBBS and BTech courses. Application fee shall be received only by way of Demand Draft drawn on State Bank of Travancore. Separate application should be submitted for seeking admission to different Engineering colleges. No fee concession is allowed for SC / ST / SEBC / OBC candidates.

MBBS course : The completed application together with application fee of Rs. 1000/- by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of The Director, CAPE payable at Thiruvananthapuram with supporting documents attested by a Gazetted Officer must be submitted at the office of the DIRECTOR, CO-OPERATIVE ACADEMY OF PROFESSIONAL EDUACTION (CAPE), 1ST FLOOR, CO-BANK TOWERS, VIKAS BHAVAN P.O, THIRUVANANTHAPURAM- 695 033.
BTech course : The completed application together with application fee of Rs.600/- by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Principals of respective Engineering colleges payable at the place where the college is situated, with supporting documents attested by a Gazetted Officer should be submitted at the office of the Principals of concerned Engineering Colleges.
