ASB offers PGDM

ASB offers Postgraduate Diploma in Management. Only business schools affiliated to a University can offer MBA.

India’s top 17 business schools offer PGDM. These are 13 Indian Institutes of Management; XLRI Jamshedpur, a Deemed University managed by Jesuit Priests ; Management Development Institute, Gurgaon,  an autonomous body promoted by Industrial Finance Corporation of India; Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, a private school affiliated to top international business schools ; and Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai , a private school with international affiliations.

A school offering an MBA degree has to follow the curriculum designed by the University it is affiliated to. Curriculum revision is a slow process in many Universities.

Unlike other subjects - Physics or Mathematics or History or even Engineering - the principles and processes of Management Science undergo rapid changes. If the curriculum has to be relevant and current, it must incorporate such changes as they happen. In other words, curriculum has to be revised frequently. Schools offering PGDM do it as an ongoing exercise.

For recruiters looking for management graduates, the distinction between PGDM and MBA is unimportant. The quality of the students, the relevance of the curriculum, the competencies of the faculty and the overall commitment of a school to seek excellence are the important considerations.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates for ASB PGDM must have at least a 3-year University degree in any discipline from a recognized institution with at least 50% marks in main subjects (Part III).
Candidates appearing for their final year degree examinations may also apply. Such candidates, if selected, must produce proof of completion of their graduation by the time they join the PGDM. In unavoidable circumstances, the time for producing proof of completion can be extended up to December.
