Eligibility for
Admissions:
Full-Time:
Candidates who have obtained Masters Degree (M.D. or M.S. or DNB or P.G.
Diploma or MDS or M.Sc. Medical/Nursing subjects or MPT) in the
concerned/relevant subject under various specified faculties of Yenepoya
University or a PG Degree considered, as equivalent by this University are
eligible for enrollment for Ph.D program, as full time research scholars
Eligibility
Criteria for Ph.D Program:
Candidates who
have obtained a minimum of 55% (SC / ST candidates who have obtained a minimum
of 50%) marks in their Master’s Degree in concerned / relevant subjects under
different faculties of Yenepoya University or in any PG Degree considered as
equivalent by this University are also eligible to register for the Ph.D
program
Candidates
having no clear grading / marks in their Post-Graduate examination, shall be
considered for the Ph.D program subject to approval from the Equivalence
Committee
However,
candidates who have passed the centrally conducted UGC/CSIR/NET/SLET exams are
exempted from appearing for the entrance test
Part-Time
Research Candidates (Internal):
Candidates who
have obtained Masters Degree (M.D. or M.S Or DNB or P.G. Diploma or MDS or
M.Sc. medical / Nursing subjects or MPT) with a minimum of 55% (50% for SC/S
candidates) aggregate in the concerned / relevant subject under various
specified faculties of Yenepoya University or a PG Degree considered, as
equivalent by this University are eligible to register for Ph.D programme
A candidate, who
fulfills the qualifications specified in the regulations and possesses at least
one year continuous experience as; regular teaching faculty; non teaching staff
in a department / Constituent college of the Yenepoya University on the date of
provisional registration, may be permitted to register himself / herself as a
part time scholar (internal) for Ph.D Degree under a Guide recognized by this University
Part time
internal candidates shall be required to work under the guide directly at least
for 90 DAYS for instruction, discussion, etc., during the prescribed period of
research work
This leave can
be availed to a maximum of 30 days per year not exceeding ten days at a time
If two
half-yearly reports are not submitted, the registration will be automatically
cancelled
However, the
candidate shall have an option to appeal for continuation of registration to
the University
Part Time:
Research Candidates (External):
Candidates
possessing any one of the qualifications prescribed under regulations from this
University or from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto and
employed as a teacher in National/State level Institutions or Universities in
India, may be permitted to register for the Ph.D program on a part time basis
as external candidates provided
Such candidates
should work at least for a minimum of 150 days during the research period in
the university in the concerned department, directly under the guide of this
University
Duration of
Research Work
Full time: The
period of training for Ph.D. shall be 2 years for full time research candidates
who possess M.D. / M.S / DNB /P.G. Diploma subject to the Ph.D project being a
continuation of their PG dissertation and 3-years for candidates with MDS /
M.Sc (medical / Nursing subjects) / MPT degrees
He/she shall
attend the department for research on all working days, except for periods when
he/she is on study leave
Part time: The
minimum prescribed period for submission of Ph.D is 4-years from the date of
provisional registration
Maximum
duration:
The maximum
period of research shall not exceed 5-years for full time candidates and
6-years for part time candidates from the date of provisional registration,
provided the fees are paid as stipulated by the University from time to time
Extension of
time up to a maximum of one year may be permitted by the University, provided,
the Board is satisfied that there are sufficient reasons for not completing the
work within the stipulated time
Application
Procedure:
Admission to
Ph.D program shall be made after inviting applications for enrollment and
registration through notification issued by the Registrar TWICE a year as noted
below:
Registration
Sessions:
Last date for
submission of application: January, 31st and 31st July
The course shall
ordinarily commence from 01st August (session-1) and 01st February (session-II)
Doctoral
students are eligible to apply for registration six months after enrollment
Application
form:
Applications for
enrollment and registration shall be made in the prescribed forms, which shall
be available at the office of the Registrar, Yenepoya University
The duly filled
in application forms along with the relevant documents (attested copies of the
marks cards, UG and PG degree certificates, reprints of publications, if any,
No objection certificate from the employers of the candidate) and the research
proposal (APPENDIX I) in the prescribed format) shall be submitted to the
Registrar, Yenepoya University on or before the last date prescribed in the
notification, through the respective Guide and Co-guide as approved by the
Yenepoya University
Applications
without the Guide’s and Co-guide’s consent shall not be considered for
admission
The applications
of all research scholars shall be forwarded through the proper channel along
with the consent of the concerned Head of the Department and the Head of the
Institution

Applicant plus
registration fee Rs. 1000/-(Non-Refundable) demand draft/Present Check (DD in
favor of Yenepoya University, payable at Mangalore (preferably SBI
Demand draft:
Recent passport size photo to be pasted plus 2 copies attached
Attested copy of
Graduate degree certificate and marks cards; attested copy of Postgraduate
degree certificate and marks cards; research proposal submitted (in triplicate)
in prescribed format; one soft copy of the Research proposal in CD cover
labeled; no-objection certificate from present employer
