BAMS Admission Notice 2014

Applications have been invited for the entrance examination for admission to the BAMS (Ayurveda) Course at Amrita School of Ayurveda, Vallikkavu, Clappana P.O., Amritapuri, Kollam - 690 525.

There are a total of 60 seats for the BAMS course extending for Four and a half years plus one year Compulsory Rotating Internship.
Applicant should be at least 17 years of age as on 31st December 2014, but should not have crossed the age of 23 years as on that date. Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or before 31st December 1997 are eligible.

Applicant should have passed plus two or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually, and should have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in English and 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together, from any State Higher Secondary Board or equivalent. Those candidates who secure 50% marks in the Amrita Entrance Examination Ayurveda alone will be considered for BAMS admission. For SC/ST candidates minimum marks required in plus two is 50% and it is 40% in the Amrita Entrance Examination.

Applicant must have passed the Higher Secondary examination, or its equivalent in first attempt (Exemptions may be considered only on medical grounds and the decision of the Chairman-Admissions will be final and binding). The last two years of such study should include Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Students studying in foreign countries following a syllabus other than any Indian syllabus should produce an Equivalence Certificate from The Association of Indian Universities, A.I.U House, 16 Comrade Indrajit Gupta Marg [Kotla Marg], New Delhi-110002. Those awaiting results of the qualifying examination can also write the Amrita Entrance Examination subject to their producing the mark list of the qualifying examination on or before 5thJune 2014. No separate communication will be issued for the marks list. Candidates should write the Hall ticket number on the mark list while submitting it separately. Candidates who had sent the mark list along with the application form need not send it again.

Selection to BAMS Programme will be based on an Entrance Examination to be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on 25thMay 2014 (Sunday) at Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Kozhikode, Kochi, Amritapuri (Kollam) and Trivandrum.

The BAMS Entrance Examination will have 150 objective type questions from Physics (30 questions), Chemistry (30), Biology (60), English (5), General knowledge (5) and Questions related to Ayurveda & Indian Culture (20). The syllabus for Amrita Entrance Examination will be as per the 10 + 2 examination (CBSE). Each MCQ will consist of a stem and four options, labelled A, B, C and D. Only one of the options is correct and for each correct response the candidate will be awarded three marks. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response, and one mark will be deducted for such answers. Candidates may use HB Pencil / Pen for answering.

Application fee is Rs.1500/- which can be paid by way of a Demand Draft favouring ‘Amrita School of Ayurveda’ payable at Kollam.

Application can be submitted online through the OARS Portal Registration in a 3-step process. To apply online, applicant should have a valid Email ID (If applicant does not have one, it is recommended to create a gmail-id). Applicant should also have, scanned copy of recent (taken after 1st January 2014) passport size colour photograph, taken in a white/light coloured background with the image in JPEG format and also on a standard 4.5cm x 3.5 cm print. Maximum pixel resolution for JPEG: 640X480 (0.3 Mega pixel). Minimum pixel resolution for JPEG: 320x240. Applicant will have to register into OARS portal
http://oars.amrita.edu/AppForm/login/auth?applicationFormId=62,  using a valid email-id, complete the online application form and submit. Applicant should enter payment of fee details (DD), upload soft copy of photo and submit.

Following this, applicant has to print Confirmation Sheet in which Address Slip is attached. The Address slip is to be separated and pasted on an A5 envelope.

The Confirmation Sheet in case of online application and the filled up form in case of downloaded from with necessary enclosures and the DD towards fee should reach ‘The Admission Coordinator, Amrita School of Ayurveda, Amritapuri Campus, Clappana P. O., Vallickavu, Kollam, Kerala-690525’, by Registered Post / Speed Post / Courier by May 20, 2014.

Rank list will be prepared and the same is likely to be notified by second week of June 2014. Rank Numbers will be published at http:// ayurveda.amrita.edu and candidates can access the same by using their Hall Ticket Numbers and date of birth. Results will also be displayed on the Notice Boards in the School of Ayurveda. Result can also be obtained by contacting the admission office (Contact number-0476 2899681).

Counselling and admission will commence normally within two week from the date of announcement of results. Details of counselling such as the availability of seats and rank numbers called for counselling each day will be updated at http://ayurveda.amrita.edu.  Separate call letters will be sent. Candidates desirous of admission should report to the Coordinator (Admissions-Ayurveda) on the date / time and place announced in the web site/call letter.

Regular classes expected to start in the second week of August 2014.
