ER&DCI Institute of Technology offers two MTech programmes:
 (1) MTech in Electronics with specialisation in VLSI and Embedded Systems
 (2) MTech in Computer Science with specialisation in Cyber Forensics and Information Security

MTech in Electronics with specialisation in VLSI and Embedded Systems
This course mainly focuses on the ASIC / FPGA front end design and verification, physical design and
verification, analog mixed signal design and verification, embedded OS and RTOS, embedded system
design and development , analog and digital circuit design etc. As part of this course, the students also 2

get the opportunity to work with the latest electronic design automation tools which is in use by the
industry. Please see Appendix 1 for course structure and other details.
Duration of the course: The course shall be for a period of two years comprising four semesters.
Number of seats: The total number of seats for the course is eighteen. Reservation norms decided by
Govt. of Kerala shall apply.

MTech in Computer Science with specialisation in Cyber Forensic and Information Security
As technologies evolve and proliferate, Internet banking and related areas witness exponential growth
and refinement. Cyber forensics and information security have become crucial and critical elements of
such development. ER&DCI Institute of Technology is one of the very few institutes in the country to
initiate industry specific courses in cyber forensics and information security to cater to the growing need
of trained professionals in this nascent field of cyber security. This course is designed to equip students
with the necessary knowledge and tools to fill the need for educated cyber security and cyber forensics
practitioners, investigators and engineers. This course covers areas like cyber forensics, file system
forensics, information security, network security, cryptography, ethical hacking, etc. Please see
Appendix 2 for course structure and other details.

Eligibility for Admission
Eligibility for admission to MTech in Electronics with specialisation in VLSI and Embedded Systems is BE
/ BTech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering / Electronics and Instrumentation
Engineering / Electronics and Biomedical Engineering / Electrical and Electronics Engineering / Applied
Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering / Electronics Engineering of a recognised university
through regular full time programme or distant education programme of IGNOU with minimum 60 %
marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates with valid GATE score are eligible for relaxation of 5 % marks or
equivalent CGPA in the above criteria.
Eligibility for admission to MTech in Computer Science with specialisation in Cyber Forensics and
Information Security is BE / BTech degree in Computer Science and Engineering / Information
Technology / Electronics and Communication Engineering / Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering
of a recognised university through regular full time programme or distant education programme of
IGNOU with minimum 60 % marks or equivalent CGPA.
Candidates who have appeared for the final semester examination can also apply, provided he / she has
passed all the subjects up to and including the sixth semester examination, satisfying the eligibility criteria mentioned above. Selection of such candidates is provisional and subject to the production of
certificates satisfying the eligibility criteria in the qualifying examination on or before 31 August 2014.
Also the student should be agreeable to the condition specified in the affidavit published in our website
and to be submitted at the time of admission, that during the period of study if he/she discontinue the
study due to any reason including the instance that the he/she fails to qualify in the prescribed
qualifying degree examination with marks as prescribed in this prospectus, the provisional admission
accorded will get cancelled and that he/she is liable to pay the entire course fee as indicated in this
prospectus as liquidated damages and discontinue his/her study. If the final mark sheet / grade sheet of
the student shows only CGPA and does not show equivalent marks or formula to convert CGPA into
marks, the student has to produce a certificate issued by the university in which he / she had studied
showing percentage mark equivalent of CGPA obtained by the student.

Selection Procedure
Admission to the MTech courses is based on the GATE score obtained by the student. After the last date
of receiving applications, ER&DCI Institute of Technology will publish the list of selected candidates and
the list of wait listed candidates for each course. Separate lists will be prepared for general category
candidates and reservation category candidates as per the norms of Govt. of Kerala. In case of more
than one candidate having the same GATE score, they will be ranked based on their marks / CGPA
obtained in their qualifying examinations.
Selected candidates will have to report at ER&DCI Institute of Technology before the last date for
admission and complete the admission process, failing which the seats will automatically be transferred
to the next eligible candidates in the waiting list.
In case seats remain vacant due to lack of candidates with valid GATE score, candidates without valid
GATE score who have already applied before the last date specified will be invited for Departmental
Admission Test (DAT) of CUSAT and admission will be based on the DAT rank list. In case of more than
one candidate having the same DAT score, they will be ranked based on their marks / CGPA obtained in
their qualifying examinations.
In case seats remain vacant due to lack of candidates even after DAT, one or more rounds of spot
admission will be conducted. Reservation norms decided by Govt. of Kerala will be followed during spot
admission also. If sufficient numbers of eligible reservation category candidates have not turned up,
reservation category seats will be allotted to eligible general category candidates


Admission Process
Selected candidates will have to report at ER&DCI Institute of Technology before the last date for
admission and pay the first semester fee. Payment of first semester fee of Rs 87720 is to be made to
ER&DCI Institute of Technology at Syndicate Bank, C-DAC Campus Branch, Vellayambalam, 4

Thiruvananthapuram, using the prescribed challan form available at ER&DCI Institute of Technology
office and the receipt will have to be presented to the ER&DCI Institute of Technology Office.
Alternatively, payments can be made by crossed demand draft in favour of ER&DCI Institute of
Technology payable at Thiruvananthapuram drawn on any nationalised / scheduled bank.
The selected candidates have to submit all the original certificates and required number of copies of
certificates specified in table 1. Each candidate also has to execute an affidavit agreeing to pay the entire
course fee even if he / she discontinues during the period of study.

How to Apply
Application form for MTech admission can be downloaded from the web site of ER&DCI Institute of
Technology (http://erdciit.ac.in).  Application forms will not be available from anywhere else. There is no
provision for online application. Candidates have to take print outs of the downloaded application form
and fill up all details. Completed applications forms along with application fee and necessary documents
should reach ER&DCI Institute of Technology office before the specified last date. ER & DCI Institute of
Technology will not be responsible for the delay in the receipt of application due to any postal or other
unforeseen delay. Each application has to be accompanied by an application fee of Rs 1000 by way of
crossed demand draft drawn on any nationalised / scheduled bank in favour of ER&DCI Institute of
Technology payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Application fee will not be refunded under any
circumstances. Duly attested copies of the documents specified in table 3, by a gazetted officer should
be sent along with the application.
