KVPY Fellowships 2014-2015

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana under department of Science and Technology has invited applications from School and College students of Academic year 2014-15, as per following streams, interested in pursuing Courses in Basic Sciences and research careers, for KVPY Fellowships:

Stream SA:

Students enrolled in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2014-15 and having secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC / ST / PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the X Standard Board examination. The students under this stream will be mentored for one year. Their fellowship will be activated when they enrol in an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (BSc / BS / BStat / BMath / Int. MSc / MS) after XII Standard(+2) securing a minimum of 60% (50%for SC / ST / PWD) mark or equivalent grade.  During the mentoring period of one year, they will be invited for Regional Science Camp / National Science Camp and expenses for attending those camps will be met by KVPY.

Stream SB:

Students enrolled in the 1st year of undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics & Biology leading to   BSc / BS / BStat / BMath / Int. MSc / MS during the academic year 2014-15 and having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC / ST / PWD) marks in aggregate in Science subjects (Physics / Chemistry / Biology / Mathematics) in the XII Standard Board Examination. In the 1st year final examination of BSc / BS / BStat / BMath / Int. MSc / MS they must secure 60% (50% for SC / ST / PWD) marks before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.

Stream SX:

Students enrolled in XII Standard/ (+2) (Science subjects) during the academic year 2014-15 and aspiring to join an undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics & Biology leading to  BSc / BS / BStat / BMath / Int. MSc / MS for the session 2015-16 provided they have secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC / ST / PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects (Physics / Chemistry / Biology) in the X Standard Board Examination. They must secure 60% (50% for SC / ST / PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects (Physics / Chemistry / Biology) in the XII standard Board Examination before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.

Students in their 2nd year of study in Cambridge International Examination Board and aspiring to join an UG program (viz. BSc / BS / BStat / BMath / Int. MSc / MS) in Basic Sciences namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology in the Academic year 2015-2016 are eligible to apply provided they have secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC / ST / PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects (Physics / Chemistry / Biology) in the X Standard Board Examination. They must secure 60% (50% for SC / ST / PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects (Physics / Chemistry / Biology) in the XII standard Board Examination before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.

A processing fee of Rs.500/-(Nil for SC / ST / PH / Visually Challenged) is applicable which can be remitted at any core banking branches of SBI to the credit of Administrative Executive, KVPY A/c No. 10270577392.

Hard copy of the application form can be obtained from KVPY on request by remitting a processing fee of Rs. 500/- (Nil for SC / ST / PH / Visually Challenged) at any core banking branches of State Bank of India, payable at all branches in India into the credit of "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) A/c. No. 10270577392" and sending the "Pay-In-Slip" along with the request, clearly indicating the stream on the envelope.

The completed application form along with the following documents should reach The Convener, KVPY, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore - 560012.

Caste certificate in the case of SC/ST candidate

Medical certificate from the prescribed authority in case of physically and visually challenged candidates.

Copy of the marks statement of the qualifying examination(s), in the case of Stream SP.

The original copy of the challan of fee.

Last date for submission of the request for application form: 28 August 2014

Selection:

Aptitude Test: After scrutiny of application forms and meeting the eligibility criteria for various streams, all eligible students will be called for a written aptitude test conducted both in Hindi and English at different centers across the country on Sunday, the 2nd November 2014. The details of the venue of the aptitude test for the eligible students and their seat number will be published in the KVPY website during the first week of October 2014. The online version of the KVPY aptitude test 2014 will be held in the following cities:

Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune

Admit Card

Students who have applied online may download the admit card for the aptitude test from the website from the second week of October 2014.

For students who have applied with a hard copy, admit card will be sent by speed post.

Interview: Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students will be asked to appear for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.
