GATE-JAM-CEED Office conducts GATE, JAM, and CEED examinations for admission to postgraduate programmes

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)  is an all-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones across the country jointly by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordinating Board - GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. Admission to post graduate programmes with MHRD and some other government scholarship/assistantship at engineering colleges/institutes in the country are open to those who qualify through GATE.

Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) is an all-India examination administered and conducted across the country jointly by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. JAM is an all India Entrance examination for admission to M.Sc. (Two Year), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post - bachelor degree programmes at IITs.

Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED)  is an all India examination conducted by IIT Bombay, on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. CEED is a qualifying examination for Admission to Master of Design (M.Des.) Programmes at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur, and Ph.D. Programmes in Design in some Institutes.

Eligibility
Candidates must either have completed or be expecting to complete any of the following, by July 2015:
•           Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Architecture/ Design/ Interior Design or equivalent (4 year programme after 10+2).
•           Professional Diploma in Design, e.g. NID/CEPT or equivalent (4 year programme after 10+2).
•           B.F.A. (4 year professional programme after 10+2).
•           G.D. Art (5 year programme after 10th) with one year post qualification professional
experience.
•           Master’s degree in Arts/Science/ Computer Applications (2 year programme after 10+2+3).
Note: Candidates with a three year Bachelor’s degree programme are not eligible.

CEED application form is to be submitted Online Only by accessing the website:
Application fee: ₹ 2000/– for male (GN and OBC) candidates; ₹ 1,000/– for male (SC/ST/PwD) candidates;
₹ 1000/– for all female candidates.

Admission to Postgraduate Courses (Master's and Doctoral) with MHRD and other Government Scholarships / Assistantships in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science is open to those who qualify in GATE. GATE 2015 score will be valid for a period of THREE YEARS ONLY from the date of announcement of results.


Eligibility
The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear in GATE :

Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy (Post Diploma / Post-B.Sc. / 4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programs.

Candidates in the final year of the Four-year Bachelor's degree program in Science (B.S.) (Post-Diploma / 4 year after 10+2).

Master's degree holders in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs.

Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree program (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering / Technology

Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five year Integrated Master's degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering / Technology.

Candidates in the final year of Five-year integrated M.Sc. or Five year integrated B.S. M.S. program.
Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE BY IE(I), AMICE(I) BY ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

Pattern of GATE 2015
Examinations for all the papers including the submission of documents will be conducted in ONLINE mode only (Computer Based Test).

Application Fee
Candidates have to apply only ONLINE
`1500 for General / OBC male candidates
`750 for women candidates
`1500 for General / OBC other candidates
`750 for the SC / ST/ PwD category candidates
The application fee has to be paid only online either through e-challan or through net Banking.

ABOUT JAM:
Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) 2015 is an all India examination for admission to Integrated Ph.D. degree programmes at IISc Bangalore (IISc), and M.Sc. (Two Years), Joint M.Sc.Ph.D, M.Sc.Ph.D. dual degree, M.Sc.M.Tech., M.Sc.M.S.(Research)/Ph.D. dual degree and other postBachelor’s degree programmes at IITs (Bhubaneswar (IITBBS), Bombay (IITB), Delhi (IITD), Gandhinagar (IITGN), Guwahati (IITG), Hyderabad (IITH), Indore (IITI), Kanpur (IITK), Kharagpur (IITKgp), Madras (IITM), Roorkee (IITR) and Ropar (IITRPR)) for the academic session 201516. JAM 2015 is open to all nationals. However, foreign nationals will be required to satisfy the rules and regulations of the admitting Institute(s) pertaining to foreign students for admission.

IIT Guwahati is the organizing institute for JAM 2015. All correspondence related to JAM 2015 must be addressed to Organizing Chairperson, JAM 2015, GATEJAM Office, IIT Guwahati, Guwahati781039.

Test Papers, Mode and Date of Examination: JAM 2015 examination will be held on February 08, 2015 (Sunday). JAM 2015 will have seven test papers, namely, Biological Sciences (BL), Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics (PH), each of three hours duration. For all the papers, JAM 2015 examination will be conducted in ONLINE mode ONLY. A candidate can appear in either one or two test papers subject to the restrictions of test schedule given below and by paying an additional fee for the second test paper.

INFORMATION BROCHURE & APPLICATION PROCEDURE
The information brochure and all other information related to JAM 2015 will be available on the website:
http://www.iitg.ernet.in/jam2015  (or) http://www.iitg.ac.in/jam2015.  A candidate can register and apply ONLINE only for JAM 2015 from September 03, 2014 to October 09, 2014. The application fee can be paid either online or through challan via State Bank of India. Additional bank charges may apply for the above transactions. In case a candidate chooses to pay through challan, then the challan payment should be made in cash at any SBI branch latest by September 30, 2014 (Tuesday). The application fee is non refundable. The candidates are advised to visit the JAM 2015 website regularly for any updates.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION(S) FOR ADMISSION
Please refer to the JAM 2015 website: http://www.iitg.ernet.in/jam2015 and/or the JAM websites of the respective institutes.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
For IISc Bangalore: First class (as declared by the university) for UnReserved/OBC category candidates and second class (as declared by the University) or 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, for SC/ST and PwD category candidates in the qualifying degree.
For IIT Guwahati: At least (a) 55% marks or 6.0 CPI in a scale of 10, without rounding off, in Major/Honors and Pass in all other subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries or (b) 60% aggregate marks or 6.5 CPI in a scale of 10, without rounding off, taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined, for UnReserved/OBC(NCL) Category Candidates; and at least (a) 50% marks or 5.5 CPI in a scale of 10, without rounding off, in Major/Honors and pass in all other subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, or (b) 55% aggregate marks or 6.0 CPI in a scale of 10, without rounding off, taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined, for SC/ST and PwD  Category Candidates, in the qualifying degree.
For all other IITs: At least 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for UnReserved/OBC Category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD Category candidates in the qualifying degree.
For candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks) the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the admitting institute(s).  

   Note:    Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with required eligibility, as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted by Sept 30, 2015.  Reservation Policy is as per Government of India norms.

JOINT ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Admission to the above mentioned academic programmes in IISc Bangalore and IITs for the academic session 201516 will be made on the basis of all India merit list of JAM 2015. For some of the programmes at IISc, IITB, IITK and IITM, the short listed candidates will additionally have to appear for an interview. Candidates who qualify in any test paper of JAM 2015 shall be eligible to apply for admission to all the academic programmes corresponding to that test paper, provided they also satisfy the minimum educational qualifications and the eligibility requirements, as specified by the Institute(s) in which the admission is sought. After the declaration of JAM 2015 results, qualified candidates shall be required to apply to the Organizing Institute (IIT Guwahati) specifying their preferences for the programmes for which the admission is sought. Candidates should note that being in the merit list of any test paper neither guarantees nor provides any automatic entitlement for admission. Further details regarding admissions, prescribed fees, etc., shall be available on the JAM 2015 website.
