Director Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu  invites applications for walk-in interview on 19th  & 20th June 2009 from motivated candidates, who have passed M.Sc. and cleared CSIR/UGC NET, DBT JRF examination or ICMR JRF examination for Ph.D. Programme of the institute. IIIM(J) is a constituent laboratory of CSIR and a multi-disciplinary institute with modern state of the art research facilities, experienced faculty with particular interests in the new drug discovery from the natural products, pharmacology, biology & biotechnology. The applicants may be placed in any of the specialized areas mentioned below.

 Natural Product Chemistry: Isolation of new chemical entities and phyto-pharmaceuticals, isolation synthesis and medicinal chemistry of natural products, study of their biology/ pharmacology. Pharmacology: General pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism and prospecting for different biological activities of natural products and their synthetic derivatives, cell biology and immunology, vaccine development and mechanistic studies. Bio-organic Chemistry: Enzymes and their application in chemical transformations, fermentation technology and production of high value products by green chemistry and resolution of racemic drugs intermediates, exploration of microbial diversity particularly extromophiles and novel expression systems. Bioinformatics: Computer aided 3D structure elucidation, QSAR model development mechanistic and insilico studies. Biotechnology: Microbial and plant biotechnology, metabolic engineering of biosynthetic pathways in plants, bacteria and fungi. Medicinal & Aromatic Plants: Agrotechnology and bioprospecting of medicinal & aromatic plants, cultivation of endangered and commercial plant varieties.

Eligibility and Selection: Candidates with masters or equivalent degree in any of the branches of science (Chemistry, Life Sciences, Botany, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Physiology or in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering), who are qualified to receive Junior Research Fellowship after passing CSIR/UGC NET, DBT JRF Examination (A category) are eligible to be interviewed. No TA/DA or any other expenses shall be paid for appearing in the interview.

Age limit: 28 years (age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST and OBC candidates as per Govt. of India rules).

Accommodation: Successful candidates will be provided hostel accommodation in the campus during  their Ph. D. tenure.
