The session for B.Sc Nursing and B.Sc. Nursing (Post Basic) will commence on 1st September,2009 and that for M.Sc. (Nursing) from 16th July, 2009.
Eligibility criteria
B.Sc. Nursing (4 years): Admission is only for female candidates. Applicant should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English or any other examination as equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates appearing in April-May 2009 for the qualifying exam can also apply. However, they will be issued Roll numbers only if they furnish the certificates of their having passed the examination (15 days by Post/5 days by hand) before the date of entrance test. Applicant should not more than 25 years and not less than 17 years on 1st September, 2009.
B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic): Applicant must have passed 10+2 or any other examination or its equivalent thereto and should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife qualified from a recognized institute and registered with respective State Nursing Council as approved by I.N.C or substitute registration in case of male candidates fully qualified for nursing of men, women and children. In case, the candidate is in service, the application should be routed through the employer.
M.Sc. Nursing: B.Sc. Nursing/B.Sc (Hons) Nursing/B.Sc Nursing (Post-Basic) or any other Degree from Institute recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and the Punjab University as equivalent thereto with at least 55% marks in aggregate.
Applicant should have at least 1 year of work experience by 15th July, 2009 in Bedside Nursing or Public Health Nursing or in nursing educational institutions recognized by the Indian Nursing Council after Basic B.Sc. Nursing or before and after Post- Basic B.Sc. Nursing. Applicant should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife as approved by I.N.C or substitute registration in the case of male candidates fully qualified for nursing of men, women and children. In case, the candidate is in service, the application should be routed through the employer.
Prospectus/Application form may be obtained on payment of Rs.500/- in cash. in respect of General Category/OBC categories and Rs.400/- for SC/ST categories, from the office of the Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education.

Application complete in all respects accompanied by one self addressed envelopes of size 20 cm x 10 cm with stamps worth Rs. 5/- affixed, with all the relevant documents and DD in case of 'down loaded forms', should reach the Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education, PGI, Chandigarh, either personally or by Registered Post by 10.6.2009 for M.Sc. Nursing and by 30.6.2009 for both B.Sc. Nursing courses.
Applications of in-service candidates for M.Sc Nursing and B.Sc Nursing (Post-Basic) must be routed through proper channel. In case delay is anticipated in the transmission of the application, an advance copy of the application in the prescribed form, complete in all respects must reach the Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education, PGI before 10.6.2009 for M.Sc Nursing and 30.6.2009 for B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic) courses. The application through proper channel should also reach the Principal, N.I.N.E. on or before 15.6.2009 for M.Sc Nursing and 10.7.2009 for B.Sc Nursing Post Basic.
Candidates belonging to foreign countries are required to route their applications through Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi and it should reach by the prescribed date. They have to obtain clearance regarding professional qualification from the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and submit it along with application form. They are also required to appear and qualify in the entrance examination.
The Entrance Examination for B.Sc.Nursing is tentatively scheduled for 8.8.2009, that for B.Sc.Nursing (P.B.) on 8.8.2009 and of M.Sc. Nursing on 29.6.2009.
