ADMISSIONS 2009-2010

Associateship in Information Science (AIS)

 

[two-year course, which is equivalent to Master's degree in Library & Information Science and is recognized by Government of India and many Universities.]
 

Eligibility: Applicant should have minimum of 50% aggregate marks in:
Master's degree OR
Four-year plus degree like B.E./M.B.B.S OR
Bachelor's degree plus B.Lib.Sc. Plus one year of relevant experience after B.Lib.Sc.
Students who have appeared in the final year examination of (i) and (ii) above are also eligible for applying for admission to the Course. However, their cases will be considered only in the event of their final results being declared before the final selection and their obtaining a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.

Selection: A total of twenty-five candidates would be selected based on Admission Test (June 30, 2009) and Interview (Last week of July, 2009).

Test Centres: New Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore.

Interview Centre: NISCAIR, New Delhi

Candidates found successful in the admission test will be called for final selection only at New Delhi. Shortlisted outstation candidates appearing for interview will be paid 2nd class sleeper return rail fare or equivalent as per the shortest route.

 

Scholarships: Provision for scholarship to non-sponsored meritorious students @ Rs. 2000/- per month for a period of 9 months exists.
 
How To Apply: The prospectus and the application form can be obtained from 'Head, Education & Training Divison (ETD), NISCAIR, S.V.Marg, New Delhi 110067' from May 18, 2009 onwards personally or by sending a self-addressed envelope (25cm x 20cm size) affixing Rs.25/- postage stamps and enclosing a DD for Rs.200/- drawn in favour of NISCAIR, payable at New Delhi. The prospectus can also be collected by payment of cash.

 

Application form, complete in all respects, should be submitted to the Head, ETD, NISCAIR. The application form, if downloaded from NISCAIR website, should be accompanied by DD for Rs. 200/- drawn in favour of NISCAIR, payable at New Delhi.
