IIIT-Delhi admits students for all the following programs:

B.Tech. in Information Technology
M.Tech. in Computer Science
Ph.D. in Computer Science

All of the above are full-time programs. Currently, IIIT-Delhi does not offer any part-time program.

Admission process for every academic year starts around February and is finalised by June. Follow the links on the left to visit the relevant pages regarding to admission process for 2011.


B.Tech. Admission 2011
IT is now becoming a discipline that is distinct from Computer Science. IIIT-Delhi aims to have such a curriculum which is Computer Science-based, and which will develop in students skills for problem solving using engineering and research approaches, in the field of IT or some domains of IT. It plans to have a strong foundational program, which can be built upon for specializing in different areas of IT or IT domains. In IIIT-Delhi, this foundational program will heavily derive from Computer Science, and will be supplemented with suitable IT oriented courses.


Tentative Dates:
Application opens: After declaration of CBSE results, i.e., end of May.
Application will be completely online.
Admission Test: End of June
Session starts: End of July

Eligibility:
A student is eligible if in Class XII Boards he/she has obtained:

1.80% or more in Maths
2.AND 80% or more overall (i.e. in all the five subjects) in Class XII Board results.
Students from any stream with Mathematics as one his/her class XII subjects can apply.

M.Tech. Admission
The goal of the MTech program is to train students to become professionals for the high-end jobs. The program is based on the best practice models at top universities across the world. For details about the program, refer to this document. Some key features are listed below.

Currently, IIIT-Delhi has only full-time MTech program in CS with specialization information security or data managment and analytics.
GATE score is optional. IIIT-Delhi will conduct a written exam, a programming exam and interview in its campus on May 22nd.

There are a limited number of assistantships available. An assistantship carries full tution waiver and also provides a stipend of Rs. 6000 per month, in-lieu of performing assigned academic work (e.g. a teaching assistantship for a course or a lab). Only students opting for with-thesis option will be considered for assistantship.
IIIT-Delhi provides relaxation to SC/ST, PH and CW category candidates (details).

Eligibility: MTech in CS is a very challenging program, which under-prepared students may find tough.

The minimum eligibility criterion for this program is B.Tech./B.E. in CS/IT/ECE/EE with at least 7.5 CGPA (out of 10) or 75% or equivalent. We expect the candidates to have proper foundations in algorithms and theory, good programming skills, in particular, systems programming, and ability to work hard. Requirements may be relaxed for candidates with relevant experience in the area of security or database.
MCA/MSc(CS/IT/ECE) degree is considered equivalent to the BTech/BE degree. Such students are also eligible to apply with the condition that in their undergraduate (i.e. B.Sc.) they should have Mathematics as one of the courses. The marks requirement is same as that given above for BTech/BE degrees.
Sponsored Full Time Candidates: This category comprises of students who are working professionals and are sponsored by the reputed organization (from Government or private organizations) by giving an undertaking. They will not be entitled to any financial assistance from the Institute, fee waiver, and on-campus placement. Admission process will be same as for regular candidates. However, the institute currently has only full-time option and no part-time option is available.

Admission Process: Based on the facts furnished in the application, a screening will be performed and selected candidates will be asked to appear for a competitive entrance process that includes written and programming tests and interview. Written test will contain objective and/or short subjective questions. The questions will cover a typical B.Tech. Computer Science curriculum. In the programming test, candidates will be asked to write and execute a program in one of four languages (C, C++, C#, JAVA). Based on the performance in written and programming tests, selected candidates will be interviewed.
