Selection Procedure
All the applications will be evaluated based on academic performance, TOEFL and GRE scores, recommendation letters, critical essay, work experience, etc.
All those who meet the minimum criteria for selection will be sent call letters for interview by SSN SASE faculty.
Further shortlisted candidates will be called for a joint interview in Chennai conducted by SSN SASE and Carnegie Mellon faculty.
All admitted candidates will be offered a letter of admission by Carnegie Mellon University.

The MSIT-SE Program draws from Carnegie Mellon's strengths in technology, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The SE (Software Engineering) track provides students with a solid foundation in the principles of software engineering, with an Insight into the important business issues of the day.
Most of the courses are drawn from Carnegie Mellon's highly ranked School of Computer Science. The core is a content-based curriculum designed to enable students to 'learn how to learn' in the rapidly evolving software development field. The capstone practicum is a chance to apply core course material to a substantial project in the workplace.
Software Engineering Core Courses
There are five core courses. The concepts and the skills acquired in these core courses are applied in the Practicum. The courses are:

Post Graduate Diploma in Software Engineering (PGDSE)
The Post Graduate Diploma in Software Engineering (PGDSE) program provides students the necessary skills to become a productive team player in a typical software development organization. The program is intended for those engineering graduates who like to pursue their career in software development. It is designed to impart programming skills in Java and Java EE as well as software engineering skills.
The contents of the core courses are designed to satisfy the needs of the IT industry. Thus, the PGDSE program seeks to make the students employable in a software development organization from day one.

Course duration is one year (4 quarters)

The participant is expected to use her/his knowledge and skills gained so far in developing the application.
Participant’s presentation and write-up skills are also assessed here.
