PIMS-AICET-UG 2011 (MBBS and BDS)

Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Pravara Medical Trust Complex, Loni, Tal. Rahata, Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra, has invited applications for admission to the MBBS course at Rural Medical College (125 seats) and BDS at Rural Dental College (100 seats) for 2011-12.

Admission to the Programmes will be based on the PIMS All India Common Entrance Test for UG Courses called the PIMS-AICET-UG- 2011, to be held from 3 p.m to 6 p.m on April 30, 2011 (Saturday) at Jammu, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Indore, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Kochi, Aurangabad and Bhopal.

PIMS-AICET-UG- 2011 will have a single paper of 3 hours duration with 200 multiple choice questions, 50 each from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Each correct answer will be awarded one mark. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.

Admission to 85 % seats which are reserved under General Category will be made on the basis of inter-se-merit of the candidates at PIMS-AICET- UG 2011.

Applicant must be an Indian National, born on or before 31st December 1994 and must have passed any of the qualifying examinations listed below.

(i) The Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English as a core course

(ii) The Intermediate/Pre-degree Examination in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognised examining body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology (which shall include practical test in these subjects) and also English as compulsory subject

(iii) The Pre-professional/Pre-medical Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology & English after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination or the Pre-University or an equivalent examination. The Pre-professional/Pre-medical examination shall include practical test in these subjects and also English as compulsory subject

(iv) The first year of the three years degree course of a University recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology including practical tests in these subjects, provided the examination is a University Examination and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English

(v) B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. Examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Bio-technology and further that he/ she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English

(vi)Any other examination which in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology including practical tests in each of these subjects and English. For such qualification, the candidates are required to obtain equivalence certificate from AIU (Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi).

Those belonging to General category must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together at the qualifying examination. Applicants belonging to Backward Classes must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained minimum 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together at qualifying examination.

Those who are appearing for qualifying examination in February/March 2011 are eligible to appear for PIMS-AICET-UG 2011 subject to fulfilling the eligibility conditions at the time of counseling.

It can be obtained by post from ‘Competent Authority, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni, Tal:Rahata, Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra- 413736, (Phone: 02422-273600-1305) by sending a request along with a DD for 700/- (inclusive of Rs.200/- towards postal charges), drawn in the name of ‘Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni’ payable at Pune.

Entrance Test Examination Fee is Rs. 1,000/-. For those using downloaded application form, the entrance test fee is Rs. 1200/-. The fee can be paid through a Demand Draft taken in favour of ‘Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni’, on State Bank of India Loni Branch (Code 6322) payable at Loni or Central Bank of India, Loni Branch (Code 3278), payable at Loni or on any Nationalised Bank, payable at Pune-Service Branch.

Filled application along with Demand Draft and applicable documents should reach the office of ‘The Competent Authority, PIMS-AICET-UG 2011, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Loni (PO), Tal. Rahata, Ahmednagar District, Maharashtra -413736, latest by 16th April, 2011.

Hall Tickets will be distributed from 10.03.2011 to 20.04.2011. In case, a candidate does not receive Hall Ticket by 25th April, 2011, he/she should contact the Designated Authority for Duplicate Hall Ticket as mentioned in Para 6.2 of the Prospectus.

The results are expected to be announced on June 1, 2011.

The annual fees payable for general category candidates is Rs.4, 50,000/- for MBBS and Rs. 1, 80,000/- for BDS.

15 % seats are reserved under FN (Foreign Nationals) / PIO (Persons of Indian Origin) / NRI (Non Resident Indians) Category. The merit of candidates seeking admission under this category will be decided by the PIMS University taking into consideration equivalence and recognition of the examination passed by the candidate and his academic performance [Marks/Grade obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology)].
