COMEDK 2012
The Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK), a joint venture of the Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association and Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association has notified the admissions to the M.B.B.S, B.D.S, B.E and B. Arch courses for the academic year 2012-13, in member institutions of the Consortium (Medical, Dental and Engineering Colleges).
Selection of candidates seeking admission to MBBS, BDS and B.E will be based on the merit in Common Entrance Test (CET), COMEDK UGET-2012.
Eligibility Criteria for the different courses are as follows.
MBBS / BDS: Applicant should complete 17 years on or before 31st December, 2012. Applicants should have passed the 2nd PUC or 10+2 Higher Secondary or equivalent examination, recognized by State / Central Government with the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject and must have passed these subjects individually. Applicants of the General Merit category must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) and not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) in the Common Entrance Test (COMEDK UGET-2012). SC, ST and OBC Candidates of Karnataka must have obtained a minimum of 40% of marks taken together in PCB in the qualifying examination and not less than 40% marks in PCB in the Common Entrance Test.
B.E: Applicant should have passed the 2nd PUC or 10+2 Higher Secondary or equivalent qualifying Examination recognized by State / Central Government with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in Physics and Mathematics which are compulsory subjects at Plus Two level and one of Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology and should have passed these subjects individually. SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka need only a minimum aggregate of 40% marks in the three subjects. All candidates who take the entrance test will find a place in the merit list as per their performance, as there is no minimum mark fixed for the entrance test. Diploma Candidates are not eligible to take COMEDK UGET-2012 entrance test.
B.Arch: Applicant should have passed 2nd PUC or 10+2 Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects along with other subjects or a 10+3 Diploma recognized by Central / State Government and having obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks in case of SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka). Further the candidate should have appeared for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture with a minimum score of 80 out of 200 for both General merit and category candidates.
Examination Centres: The COMEDK UGET-2012 which is mandatory for all candidates seeking admissions to MBBS/BDS/B.E courses in member institutions of COMEDK, will be conducted on 6th May 2012 (Sunday) at Bangalore (Code-01), Belgaum (02), Bellary (03), Bijapur (04), Davangere (05), Dharwad (06), Gulbarga (07), Mangalore (08), Mysore (09), Shimoga (10), Tumkur (11) and Udupi (12).
Test Scheme: COMEDK UGET-2012 will have three papers.
(i)A combined Physics and Chemistry paper to be held from 10 am to 12 noon on 6.5.2012.
(ii)Mathematics paper to be held form 2 pm to 3 pm on 6.5.2012
(iii)Biology paper to be held form 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm on 6.5.2012
For combined Physics and Chemistry paper, there will be a total of 120 questions with 60 questions from Physics and 60 questions from Chemistry. The test is compulsory for all candidates seeking admission to M.B.B.S., BDS and B.E courses. The Mathematics paper, which is compulsory for the candidates aspiring for B.E will have 60 questions while the Biology paper, compulsory for the candidates aspiring for MBBS/BDS will also have 60 questions.
Candidates are required to mark their answers on an OMR (Optical Mark Reader) answer sheet. Each correct answer will be awarded one mark. No mark/s will be awarded for multiple marking (marking multiple responses) of any question. There will be no negative marking.
Publishing of Answer Keys: Answer keys of COMEDK UGET-2012 will be published at http://www.comedk.org , late in the evening on 6.5.2012. Clarifications to the answer keys, if any, should be sought between 7.5.2012 and 10.5.2012.
Communications received after 10.5.2012 will not be entertained. Applicants seeking clarifications with regard to answer keys have to write to COMEDK, clearly indicating the grievance and with all necessary enclosures in a prescribed format given as Appendix I to the Information Brochure available at http://www.comedk.org/brochure/COMEDK_UGET_2012_Brochure.pdf. Every answer key for which clarification is sought should be sent to COMEDK office by post, along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 200/- per Item, drawn in favour of ‘COMEDK’, payable at Bangalore. If the clarification sought is upheld, the money would be refunded after the COMEDK UGET-2012 process is completed.
The test results will be published in two stages. In the first stage, Test Score will be published and in the second, final merit /rank list will be published.
Publishing of Test Scores: Test scores of COMEDK UGET-2012 will be published on 25.5.2012. Clarifications to the Test Scores, if any, should be sought between 26.5.2012 and 28.5.2012. Communications received after 28.5.2012 will not be entertained. Applicants seeking clarifications of Test score should write to COMEDK, in the prescribed format given as Appendix II to the Information Brochure available at www.comedk.org/brochure/COMEDK_UGET_2012_Brochure.pdf , along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 200/-, drawn in favour of ‘COMEDK’, payable at Bangalore, enclosing a candidate copy of the OMR answer sheet. If clarification sought is upheld, the money would be refunded after the COMEDK UGET-2012 process is completed.
Any verification/clarification sought by the applicants will be put forth to the COMEDK’s academic committee for their consideration and the decision given by the committee will be final and binding on all. A merit / rank list will be generated based on the candidate's scores in entrance test only.
Ties in the test scores, if any, will be resolved based on the following order specified.
For Medical/Dental candidates: (i) The principle of least negative responses (number of wrong answers) in (1) Biology (2) Chemistry and (3) Physics (ii) Aggregate marks in Chemistry and Biology in the Entrance Test (iii) Marks in Biology in the Entrance Test (iv) Age of the Candidate, the elder candidate is ranked higher than the younger candidate.

The Final Rank list will be published on 8.6.2012. The Final Merit / Rank List will be sent to the regulatory authorities. Individual rank card will be sent to eligible candidates only. The Rank List will be made available in the COMEDK website, http://www.comedk.org .
Admissions are open to all the students across the country. However, only Karnataka Candidates belonging to SC,ST and OBC categories are eligible to get the benefit of lower eligible qualifying marks subject to providing the certificates as applicable issued by the competent authorities in support of the claim.

Application fee is for Rs.900/- for 3 subjects (PCM or PCB) for MBBS/BDS or B.E and Rs.1100/- for 4 subjects (PCMB) for MBBS/BDS and B.E. This has to be paid by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘COMEDK’, payable at Bangalore.
One can apply to any/all of Medical/Dental and Engineering courses in a single application form and indicate the preferences for each of them in the same application form.
Applicants may look to the sample filled in online application before you start filling the online application. After filling the online application form, click on the ‘Preview’ button to check whether all the entries made are correct. Once applicant is satisfied about all the entries, click on the ‘submit’ button. The server will assign an application number, and provide the facility to view/print the online application form with the details filled, along with the application number.
After verifying the details, a printout of the Online Application Form and Online Date of Birth Certificate / Identity proof (COMEDK and Candidate Copy) may be taken. Applicant must stick his/her recent (not older than six months) passport size colour photograph in the spaces provided (all the photos must be identical). Application Form with smudged / tampered / hazy photograph or photograph older than 6 months will be rejected. Photographic mismatch would result in debarring the candidates writing COMEDK UGET-2012. Applicant should not staple or pin the photograph on the application form or Date of Birth certificate.
Applicants are not required to send any original documents along with the application form. Applicant should not sign on the photograph nor should it be attested.
Printed Online Application Form and the Printed Online Date of Birth Certificate / Identity Proof (COMEDK copy), should be completed as specified in the Instructions.
The completed Application Form along with the necessary documents, Photocopy of 10th standard marks card or school leaving certificate, indicating the candidate’s date of birth and Demand Draft (with application number, applicant’s name & contact number written at the back of the Demand Draft), should reach Executive Secretary - COMEDK, # 132, Second Floor, 11th Main, 17th Cross, Malleswaram, Bangalore-560055, by Speed Post or Courier latest by 5 pm on 10th April 2012 (Tuesday).
B Arch Admission: COMEDK will not be conducting any Common Entrance Test for candidates seeking admission to B. Arch (Architecture Course) as per existing rules. There will be only Centralized Counseling for B. Arch.
Separate online application form will be issued for B Arch, from 21.5.2012. Those seeking admission to B. Arch should submit this separate application form along with a DD of Rs. 500/- in favour of COMEDK. The last date for receipt of completed Application forms for B. Arch is 21.6.2012 (Thursday).
Centralized Counseling (Single window): Centralized Counseling (Single window) will be organised for selection of seats in MBBS, BDS, B.E and B.Arch courses. There will be two rounds of counselling.
