ADMISSION TO M.PHIL. PROGRAMME
Indian Institute for Technology Hyderabad (IITH) invites applications for admission to full-time M. Phil. program in the Department of Liberal Arts in the following areas of specialization.
Areas of Specialization:
Cultural Studies, Economics, English, Psychology, Sociology, Social Anthropology
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
55% in M.A./ M.Com or 60 % in M.Sc/M.Tech/MBA (or equivalent CGPA) with
adequate background in Humanities and Social Sciences.
Shortlisted candidates must clear a written test conducted by the Department of
Liberal Arts.
Selection:
Mere fulfillment of the minimum educational qualification does not necessarily entitle applicants to a call for the written test. The Institute reserves the right to call only the requisite number of M. Phil. candidates based on qualification and suitability.
Duration of the Program and Fellowship:
The duration of the M. Phil. Program is 3 semesters (18 months) in which the selected candidates must complete course work and write a dissertation. Selected candidates will be provided monthly fellowships as per MHRD norms.
Reservations:
The reservation of seats in admissions for SC, ST, OBC categories and for persons with disability (PD) will be as per Government of India rules. Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CPI for SC/ ST applicants.
Procedure for Submitting Application:
The application form, downloadable from www.iith.ac.in , should be sent to the
Professor in-Charge, Liberal Arts, along with a bank challan of Rs. 200/- (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PD candidates) drawn in favour of ‘Registrar, IIT Hyderabad’ payable at
Hyderabad. At the back of the challan kindly write your name and specialization.
