Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) is a Postgraduate program offered by a consortium of universities in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University, USA with the support of State government of Andhra Pradesh. MSIT is currently offered at IIIT Hyderabad and JNTU-H SIT, Hyderabad. This year MSIT is being offered at JNTU-K, Kakinada.
MSIT has been designed to develop technically competent, highly productive, and self motivated professionals in tune with the demands of an ever changing market. MSIT programme is being offered by “Consortium of Institutions of Higher Learning” (CIHL), formed by the universities in Andhra Pradesh, in collaboration with leading universities from across the globe. CIHL has designed the programme with the active participation of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), USA and inputs from major IT companies. MSIT aims to produce skilled Professionals who have knowledge of the core principles underlying information technology and an understanding of emerging industry trends.
The MSIT programme was started in 2001 and students were admitted to the Learning Centers at International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad, School of IT, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, College of Engineering, Osmania University and Regional Engineering College (REC, now NIT), Warangal in the last four years.
In 2004, the Story/Problem Centered Curriculum was introduced and the fourth batch of students were admitted to the MSIT division, International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), College of Engineering, Osmania University (OU), Hyderabad and School of Information Technology (SIT), Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU).
The MSIT (MS in IT or Master of Science in Information Technology) programme is innovative multi-university interdisciplinary post graduate programmes being offered under the MSIT programme. The programme use sophisticated educational technologies and are delivered through Learning Centers with well-equipped laboratories housed in the finest IT and engineering institutions.
MSIT offers the latest domains specializations on par with international universities. Computer Networks and security as a domain specialization is offered for the first time in the state only in MSIT. Bio-Informatics, Software Engineering and E-commerce are also the domains which have very high demand in the current software industry.

Selection Process:
MSIT took its inception in the year 2001 and is currently offered at IIIT and JNTUH, School of Information Technology, Hyderabad. MSIT follows ‘Learning by Doing” approach with Project Centered Curriculum aimed at producing employable IT professionals for the Industry.
The selection process into MSIT consists of following stages
Stage I - Graduate Aptitude Test
Stage II - Listening Comphrension and Counseling
Stage III - Preparatory Course

Stage I consists of Graduate Aptitude Test (GAT) which is a Computer Based Test.
Eligibility:

3 Year MSIT
B.Sc (Mathematics/Computer Science/IT)/BCA or Equivalant Degree.

The eligible candidates can either avail one or both the modes to apply for the Entrance Test. However the best of the scores in all the attempts will be taken into consideration for final ranking.
Walk-in Entrance Test:
Eligible candidates can apply for walk-in Entrance Test at Eduquity Career Technologies PVT LTD, 403, 4th Floor, Myhome Sarovar Plaza, Secretariat road, Hyderabad-500063, Ph: 040-23243010, and take the exam on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday every week from 19th April 2012 to 23rd May 2012 Walk-in entrance test can be taken multiple times, but a time gap of 30 days should be there between any two successive attempts. For every attempt a non-refundable crossed Demand Draft of Rs.700, drawn in favour of “CIHL”,on any scheduled bank payable at Hyderabad has to be paid at the exam center (Eduquity).
Regular Entrance Test
Regular Entrance Test is conducted from 24-05-2012. Candidates can apply for this test online (Please see "How to Apply" ) and send a Demand Draft of Rs.700, drawn in favour of “CIHL”, on any scheduled bank payable at Hyderabad, to the address given below.

Stage - II
Candidates qualifying in Stage-I will be called for Stage-II of the entrance test, consisting of Listening Comprehension and counseling. Candidates qualifying the Listening Comprehension will be called for counselling on the same day (Listening Comprehension Exam is exempted for the eligible candidates with qualifying TOEFL Score).
Stage - III
Candidates qualifying in Stage I & II will join the Preparatory Course for eight weeks.
In the Preparatory course, students are required to assemble their own PCs, install hardware and software, troubleshoot their PCs when required, C programming and learn the basics of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, HTML). It also includes preparing a Business plan and Soft Skills.
Only the eligible candidates clearing the Preparatory course will be allowed to continue with the MSIT programme. Candidates not clearing the Preparatory course will have to leave the programme.

How to Apply

Walk-in Entrance test:
Apply at Eduquity Career Technologies PVT LTD, 403, 4th Floor, Myhome Sarovar Plaza, Secretariat road, Hyderabad-63, Ph: 040-23243010 with a non-refundable crossed Demand Draft (DD) of Rs. 700/- from a nationalised bank drawn in favour of 'CIHL', payable at Hyderabad. If the candidate is satisfied with scores which he/she got through Walk-in Entrance then he/she can take regular entrance test which will be conducted from 24-05-2012, he/she needs to apply online (should take another DD for Rs. 700/-) . However the best of the scores would be considered for final ranking.
The walk-in entrance will be conducted from 19th April on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday every week upto 23-05-2012.
Regular Entrance test:
The regular entrance test will be conducted from 24-05-2012 onwards. Candidates applying for this test have to submit the Application in either of the following two modes.

Note:
Those candidates who have GRE score over 1100 in Verbal, Quantitative sections and over 3.5 in Analytical Writing can Apply Online for Stage II of the Entrance Test directly. (GRE should have been taken after July 2009). For candidates who have taken GRE after August 2011, the equivalent new scores are considered.
Those candidates with TOEFL score above 79/120(IBT) would be exempted from taking the Listening Comprehension test in Stage II of the entrance test. (TOEFL should have been taken after July 2010)

IIIT, Hyderabad has been established in 1998. Ever since its inception it has achieved remarkable goals and contributed significantly to R&D. IIIT has a sprawling campus of 62 acres and is located in Gachibowli. Some of the most renowned seats of learning like ISB, HCU are located in a radius of 4 km from IIIT.
IIIT has various tie-ups with national and internationals institutes. These include Carnegie Mellon University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Pennsylvania, University of Washington to name a few.
In IIIT there are various research centers that are autonomous, yet working in concert with each other. The major research centers at IIIT are in the areas of Bio Informatics, Computer Vision, Data Engineering, Language Technologies and Robotics.

JNTU - Hyderabad
Under a broad policy framework of providing new technological education required for the industrial growth of the country in general and more particularly for the State of Andhra Pradesh, "Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University" was established on 2nd October, 1972, by an act of State Legislature. On its formation, the Government Engineering Colleges at Anantapur, Kakinada and Hyderabad, became its Constituent Colleges. The first two colleges were established in the year 1946 and last one in the year 1965.
MSIT Programme is offered in the School of IT in the University campus in Kukatpally. Hyderabad. This programme was started in JNTU in the year 2001. MSIT center in the School of IT has state of the art Infrastructure. Andhra University - Vishakapatnam
The university has four campus colleges - Engineering, Science and Technology, Arts and Commerce and College of Law - and also two Postgraduate extension centers one at Kakinada (East Godavari district) and the other at Etcherla, Srikakulam District). The University also offers several courses through the School of Distance Education under distance education system. Presently, the university has the jurisdiction of five revenue districts with 200 affiliated colleges.

If the candidate is satisfied with scores which he/she got through Walk-in Entrance then he/she can take regular entrance test which will be conducted from 24-05-2012, he/she needs to apply online (should take another DD for Rs. 700/-) . However the best of the scores would be considered for final ranking.
The walk-in entrance will be conducted from 19th April on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday every week upto 23-05-2012.
Regular Entrance test:
The regular entrance test will be conducted from 24-05-2012 onwards. Candidates applying for this test have to submit the Application in either of the following two modes.

Those candidates who have GRE score over 1100 in Verbal, Quantitative sections and over 3.5 in Analytical Writing can Apply Online for Stage II of the Entrance Test directly. (GRE should have been taken after July 2009). For candidates who have taken GRE after August 2011, the equivalent new scores are considered.
Those candidates with TOEFL score above 79/120(IBT) would be exempted from taking the Listening Comprehension test in Stage II of the entrance test. (TOEFL should have been taken after July 2010)

IIIT, Hyderabad has been established in 1998. Ever since its inception it has achieved remarkable goals and contributed significantly to R&D. IIIT has a sprawling campus of 62 acres and is located in Gachibowli. Some of the most renowned seats of learning like ISB, HCU are located in a radius of 4 km from IIIT.
IIIT has various tie-ups with national and internationals institutes. These include Carnegie Mellon University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Pennsylvania, University of Washington to name a few.
In IIIT there are various research centers that are autonomous, yet working in concert with each other. The major research centers at IIIT are in the areas of Bio Informatics, Computer Vision, Data Engineering, Language Technologies and Robotics.

JNTU - Hyderabad
Under a broad policy framework of providing new technological education required for the industrial growth of the country in general and more particularly for the State of Andhra Pradesh, "Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University" was established on 2nd October, 1972, by an act of State Legislature. On its formation, the Government Engineering Colleges at Anantapur, Kakinada and Hyderabad, became its Constituent Colleges. The first two colleges were established in the year 1946 and last one in the year 1965.
MSIT Programme is offered in the School of IT in the University campus in Kukatpally. Hyderabad. This programme was started in JNTU in the year 2001. MSIT center in the School of IT has state of the art Infrastructure. The Lab is open 24x7x365 with a 2 MBPS Internet Connection and the labs are designed to provide an environment that matches the very best in the field. Andhra University - Vishakapatnam
The university has four campus colleges - Engineering, Science and Technology, Arts and Commerce and College of Law - and also two Postgraduate extension centers one at Kakinada (East Godavari district) and the other at Etcherla, Srikakulam District). The University also offers several courses through the School of Distance Education under distance education system. Presently, the university has the jurisdiction of five revenue districts with 200 affiliated colleges.
