Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies and Civilization Admissions 2012-2013
The School of Buddhist Studies and Civilization facilitates the programs leading to doctoral degree in Buddhist Languages and Literature and Buddhist Civilization and Culture. Following are the eligibility criteria and requirements to obtain Ph.D. degree from the School of Buddhist Studies and Civilization:
Name of the Program: Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies and Civilization (Full time / Working Professional)
Duration: 3 year (6 Semesters)
Minimum Qualification for Admission:
Postgraduate Degree with minimum 55% for Gen/OBCs and 50% for SCs/STs is required to be eligible to apply for the admission. However, the admission will be based on the merit and top 30 candidates will be selected through written as well as personal interview tests. Reservations in the admission will be fulfilled as per the Governmental policy.
Total Required Credits: 10 credits are required from the coursework.
General Requirements:
Usually, entry into the Ph.D. program is contingent upon successful completion of the M.A.degree in Buddhist Languages, Literature, Civilization and Culture at the Gautam Buddha University and a satisfactory evaluation by the Language Program faculty. Students with sufficient background, usually the successful completion of a relevant M.A. degree obtained from another institution, may be considered for admission into the Ph.D. program. However, such students must be proficient in or posses the working knowledge of Buddhist languages like Sanskrit and Pali.
