KERALA Nursing, Pharmacy and Paramedical Degree ADMISSIONS 2012-2013


Applications have been invited for admission to the Nursing, Pharmacy and Paramedical Degree Courses, Kerala for 2012-13.

The courses for which applications have been invited include (i) Bachelor of Science - Nursing (B.Sc Nursing) (ii) Bachelor of Science - Medical Laboratory Technology [B.Sc (M.L.T)] (iii) Bachelor of Science - Perfusion Technology (B.Sc Perfusion Technology) (iv) Bachelor of Science-Medical Radiological Technology (B.Sc M.R.T) (Subject to approval of the Government of Kerala and the Kerala University of Health Sciences) (v) Bachelor of Science - Optometry [B.Sc.(Optometry)] (vi) Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B.P.T) (vii) Bachelor in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (B.A.S.L.P) (viii) Bachelor of Cardio Vascular Technology (BCVT) (ix) Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) (x) Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D).

Admissions to these courses will be based on merit as assessed in the rank list prepared based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination(s), after having the normalization procedure as described in Clause 8.7 of the Prospectus available at http://lbscst.in/param2012/downloads/PROSPECTUS.pdf .

Applicant should be an Indian citizen. Holders of Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cards/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) will also be treated at par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission. However, PIO/OCI candidates will not be eligible for any kind of reservation. 
Those seeking admission will be categorised as  Keralite or Non-Keralite. 

Keralite: A candidate of Kerala origin will be categorized as a ‘Keralite’. Children of All India Service (AIS) officers (Non-Keralites) allotted to Kerala cadre are deemed to be ‘Keralites’ as per G.O.(Rt) No.822/08/H.Edn dated 29.05.2008. But they will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/ Persons with Disabilities reservation.

Non-Keralite: A candidate who is not of ‘Kerala origin’ but who has undergone the qualifying course in Kerala, and who is the son/daughter of (i) employees of Government of India and defence personnel posted to Kerala (ii) employees, who are serving the Government of Kerala, subject to the condition that the employees have served in the state of Kerala or for the state of Kerala, for a minimum period of two years will be treated as Non-Keralite. Non-Keralite candidates will be considered against ‘State Merit’ seats only and will not be eligible for Communal/Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation.

Those Indian citizens who do not come under the categories described above may be considered for admission to Management Quota seats in Private Self Financing Colleges; subject to fulfilling the eligibility conditions vide Clauses 6.2 and 6.3 of the Prospectus. The admission will be based on merit and will be restricted be a maximum of 10% of management quota seats. However, this allotment/admission does not come under the purview of this Prospectus.

Certificate for Keralite status: An applicant claiming Keralite status will have to produce one of the following Certificates along with the application.
(i) The true copy of relevant page of Secondary School Leaving Certificate showing the place of birth in Kerala of the candidate
(ii) The true copy of the relevant page of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate showing place of birth in Kerala of either of the parents of the candidate with corroborative Certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and the candidate
(iii) The true copy of the relevant page of the Passport of the candidate, issued by the Government of India, showing place of birth in Kerala or of either of the parents of the candidate showing place of birth in Kerala with corroborative Certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and the candidate
(iv) A Certificate of birth from the authority competent to register birth (Panchayat/ Municipality/Corporation) showing the candidate’s or either of the parents (in which case corroborative Certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and the candidate is necessary) place of birth in Kerala., to be issued by a competent officer of the registering authority
(v) A Certificate from the Village Officer / Tahsildar to show that the candidate or his / her father / mother was born in Kerala (this is to be obtained in the body of the application)
(vi) A Certificate of residence from the Village Officer/Tahsildar to the effect that the candidate has been a resident of Kerala state for a period of five years within a period of twelve years (to be obtained in the prescribed format in the application)
(vii) A Certificate showing school studies in Kerala from Std VIII to XII obtained from the head(s) of the educational institution(s) in Kerala in the case of candidates who have undergone school studies in Kerala to prove that the candidate has  undergone his/her studies in the schools in Kerala from standards VIII to XII. This Certificate is to be obtained in the prescribed format in the application itself
(viii) A Certificate from the competent authority showing that the parent of the candidate is an All India Service Officer allotted to Kerala cadre.

Certificate for Non-Keralite status: For Non-Keralites, a 'Certificate to be issued by the Employer' is to be obtained in the body of the application from the Head of the organisation, where the candidate’s parent (employee) is serving, and the ‘Certificate showing School studies in Kerala for Standards XI & XII’ is to be obtained from the Head of institution where the candidate underwent his/her qualifying course in Kerala to satisfy the nativity condition.

Academic Eligibility:

B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. (M.L.T) and B.Sc. Optometry: For admission to B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. (M.L.T) and B.Sc. Optometry Courses, applicant should have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher   Secondary Education, Kerala, or an examination recognized equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English put together.

B.Sc. Perfusion Technology, B.Sc. M.R.T., B.C.V.T. and B.P.T: For admission to B.Sc. Perfusion Technology, B.Sc. M.R.T., B.C.V.T. and B.P.T Courses applicant should have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher   Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognized equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together.

B.P.T: For admission to B.P.T Course, applicant should have studied English as a subject at 12th standard/Plus Two levels, in addition to the requirements for B.Sc Nursing etc. 
Those who have passed the B.Sc. Degree (Three year course) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany or Biochemistry as Main, and any one or two of the above subjects as Subsidiaries, with 50% marks for Main & Subsidiaries taken together, subject to the condition that they have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects are eligible for admission to B.Sc.(M.L.T) course and such students are exempted from ‘50% marks in Plus Two’.

B.A.S.L.P: For admission to B.A.S.L.P, applicant should have passed Higher Secondary Examinations of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or Examinations recognized equivalent thereto with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Mathematics/ Computer Science/ Statistics/ Electronics/ Psychology put together.

B.Pharm: For admission to B.Pharm Course, applicant should have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology/Mathematics/Biotechnology/Computer Science separately and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology /Mathematics /Biotechnology/ Computer Science put together. Those coming from National Open School are not eligible to apply for the course

Pharm.D: For admission to Pharm.D Course, applicants who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology/ Mathematics separately and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics put together are eligible. Those with a pass in D.Pharm Course with a minimum of 50% marks in D. Pharm. examination from an institution approved by Pharmacy Council of India under Section 12 of the Pharmacy Act are also eligible. 20 % of the total seats are reserved for candidates with D. Pharm qualification. If D.Pharm candidates are not available, these seats shall be filled up by candidates who have academic eligibility for admission to the B Pharm Course. The Vocational Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, has been recognized as    equivalent to the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala. Academic eligibility should be satisfied as on the last date for submission of academic data.

Relaxation in marks: For all the courses, applicants belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (as per G.O. (P) No. 208/66/Edn. dated 2.5.1966, G.O.(MS) No.95/08/SCSTDD dated 06.10.2008 and amendments thereof), with a total annual family income not exceeding Rs.4,50,000/ (4.5 lakhs), will have a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination. They need only 45% marks in the case of Mathematics/Biology/Bio Technology/Computer Science and 45% marks in the case of optional subjects put together. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination. The relaxation of marks in the qualifying examination extended to SEBC candidates only will be applicable to OEC candidates even if they are allotted against the un-availed seats of SC/ST quota. No rounding off of the percentage of marks to the nearest whole number is permitted. For example, a score of 50 marks out of 100 or 150 marks out of 300 alone will be considered as   50% marks and scores of 45 out of 100 or 135 out of 300 alone will be considered as 45% marks for determining eligibility.

Appeared candidates: Those who have appeared for the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination can also apply subject to their obtaining the prescribed qualification and submit ting of copies of mark list before the last date prescribed for registration of academic data. 

Age: Applicants should be completing 17 years of age as on the 31st December 2012. There is no upper age limit except for candidates under service quota. The upper age limit for candidate under service quota will be 45 years for B.Sc. Nursing and 46 for B.Sc.(M.L.T) as on 31.12.2012.

Application: Application for admission to all the courses covered by the Process can be registered only online through a single application. The provision for applying online is available at the sites www.lbcentre.org and www.lbskerala.com. Submission of more than one application by a candidate will lead to rejection of the candidature.

Application Fees: Application fee for General candidates is Rs. 500/- and that for SC / ST applicants, is Rs. 250/. Application fee can be remitted at any one of the branches of Federal Bank in Kerala up to 16th May, 2012.

On payment of the prescribed fee at the Bank, applicant will be issued a receipt which will carry a unique Application Number & Security key. Applicant should maintain strict confidentiality of his/her security key to protect his/her interest.

Prospectus can be obtained from any one of the Facilitation Centres of LBS Centre for Science & Technology on production of the receipt up to 16th May, 2012.

Prospectus can also be downloaded from www.lbscentre.org and also from www.lbskerala.com. There will be two stages for the submission of application, both of which are mandatory. Candidates should complete/fulfill both the stages as per schedule.

Stage I includes the Online Registration of personal data and submission of Application (Print out) of the candidates while Stage II is the forwarding of downloaded Academic facing Sheet duly signed in along with attested copies of mark list (s).

Stage I: In Online Registration of personal data and submission of Application, applicant has to visit the website www.lbscentre.org or www.lbskerala.com and perform online registration using his/her Application Number, Security Key and soft copy of the recently taken Passport Size photo in JPEG format with size not more than 20 KB. The candidate must click the link ‘Admission to Professional Degree Courses 2012 in Nursing, Pharmacy and Paramedical streams’. He/She will have to initially login to the web site using the ‘Application Number’ and ‘Security Key’. The candidate will have to create and submit a ‘Password’ which must be made up of numerals or alphabets or a combination of both. On successful submission of the password, the candidate will be taken to a Home page. Then he/she has to upload softcopy of his/her Photograph and then enter and ‘SAVE’ the personal data. The computer on completing the online registration will generate a ‘Registration ID’. On completion of online registration, the candidate has to take a printout, which is the Application of the candidate.

The facility for registration of personal data online will be available till 18th May, 2012 (Friday).This Application, along with attested copies of certificates to prove all personal claims and copy of Hall ticket of Higher Secondary/equivalent examination (for appeared candidates) /mark list(s) of Higher Secondary/equivalent examination (if passed), should reach ‘The Director, LBS Centre for Science & Technology, Extra Police Road, Nandavanam, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram-695033, Kerala’, latest by 4 pm on 19.05.2012 (Saturday). 

Candidates should keep the Password and Registration ID strictly confidential, to protect their interest. In case any assistance is required for online registration, the candidate may approach any of the Facilitation Centres of LBS Centre listed as Annexure XI of the Prospectus.

Stage II: Stage II, which is the forwarding of downloaded Academic Data Sheet, has to be carried out after receipt of mark list of Higher Secondary/equivalent examination and as per the time schedule prescribed. The ‘Academic Data Sheet’ can be downloaded from the ‘Home Page’ of the candidate from the website www.lbscentre.org/www.lbskerala.com by login using Application number, Security Key and Password. The duly signed Academic Data Sheet along with attested copies of mark list(s) should reach ‘The Director, LBS Centre for Science & Technology, Extra Police Road, Nandavanam, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram-695033, Kerala’, latest by 13th June, 2012.

The accepted Personnel & Academic data will be published on 20.06.2012 (Wednesday). Complaints on that will be accepted till 23.6 2012 (Saturday). Provisional Index marks will be published on 26.06.2012 (Tuesday) and the provisional rank list on 30.6.2012 (Saturday).    

Facility for College/Course option Registration will be available from 2.7.2012 (Monday) to 5.7.2012 (Thursday). Final Rank List & Trial Allotment will be made on 7.7.2012 (Saturday). Facility for rearrangement/addition/deletion of options will be activated from 7.7.2012 (Saturday) to 10.7.2012 (Tuesday) and the first allotment will be made on 13.7.2012 (Friday). Allotted candidates have to join Colleges on 6.8.2012 (Monday).
