II Batch of CHSD Commenced from March 2012
The second batch of Public Health Training leading to Certificate course in Social Health and Development has commenced from March 2012. Students with public health, neonatal & pediatric nursing interests from Oregon State University, USA and Government Health System, Maldives are doing the course. First few weeks, the students have undergone their training in core interests - pediatric, neonatal and intensive care unit training at PIMS University (900 bedded multi-specialty) Hospital. First half of April, the students have undergone training at CSM run Primary Health Centre, Rahata (Semi-urban area), and second half on a Mobile Medical Unit which visits remote drought prone and semiirrigated villages to gain first hand knowledge about the health and socio-cultural situation in a typical rural Indian settings.
In the subsequent weeks, the students will be working on the ongoing social health projects & programs of CSM to understand various determinants of health in rural & urban life, health care delivery system in remote and tribal areas, preventive-curative-rehabilitative services at primary to tertiary level health care settings. They will also be exposed to more challenging projects in the areas of tribal health, HIV/AIDS among FSW, MSM and Migratory workers etc.
