Background 
With the onset of new advances in information technology, especially in computing and communications, the support  resources created in digital media are gaining ground especially in teaching/ research and technology transfer organizations. Digital tools have become very effective in producing various modules that help enhance the database management, education, information sharing and agri business. Development of multimedia-based web environment facilitates effective communication that support decision-making. There is, therefore, a need to expose these to the scientists, faculty of ICAR/SAUs and programme coordinators of KVKs and the NAIP consortia members who are involved in information development, teaching and technology transfer as well  as agribusiness. Considering these needs the programme is designed to enhance the skills in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for Agriculture Knowledge Management.  

Objectives
• To sensitize the participants on the ICT models in agriculture using traditional and modern ICT tools for information sharing and agri business 
• To orient the participants on the latest content management practices, Database management Technologies and enhance their skills in making use of these tools  
• To expose the participants on Participatory Geographic information Systems (PGIS) for decision support, and, e-learning modules 
• To facilitate the participants in generation of web based and multimedia based information modules. 

Course Content  
ICTs application for content modules development in agriculture education, research and technology transfer in  regular and web based environments, ICT models in agriculture using traditional and modern ICT tools, content capturing practices, Knowledge sharing in web based mode, Database management, PGIS, Reusable learning objects (RLOs) and ICTs for Agribusiness.  

Participants 
Senior and Middle level Scientists and Faculty in ICAR institutes, SAUs KVKs and NAIP Consortia members involved in Education, Research, Training & Technology Transfer activities.  Basic knowledge of computers is essential. Participants are advised to bring the background material, relevant graphics and data for developing web based and multimedia based modules. 

Duration 
October 3-17, 2012 (both days inclusive). Participants are expected to arrive latest by evening of October 2, 2012, and can leave after 1600 hrs on October 17, 2012. 

TA/DA
The Traveling cost, boarding etc. of the selected participants will be met out of the grant from the Learning and Capacity Building Project of NAIP. All participants will be reimbursed to and fro travel fare for the journey to Hyderabad by rail or bus or other means of transport used, on production of certificate for travel by the shortest route. 


The TA is restricted to the maximum of AC II tier train fare. Participants are required to produce a Photostat copy of the rail/bus ticket (only by public transport) for reimbursing the travel expenditure.  DA will be paid as per NAIP/ICAR rules. Local participants will be provided lunch and inter session tea.   Participants are requested not to bring any family members along with them. Accommodation and boarding will be provided by the institute organizing the training. 


Board and Lodging 
The programme is fully residential. Accommodation will be provided with singleseated and furnished rooms. Bed tea, breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner will be served in the hostel.  


Travel  
Hyderabad is well connected by air, rail, and road. Participants travelling by train should alight at Secunderabad or Hyderabad railway station. City transport service is available to reach the Academy. Bus route No.95R from Koti opposite to Osmania Medical College is the most convenient service as it plies through the Academy Campus. Other routes 94R, 94H  from Koti can be used to reach Rajendranagar bus stop (about a kilometer away from NAARM) from where auto can be hired to reach the Halls of Residence. The participants may also hire auto directly from the Railway Station. Participants are advised to make their return journey reservations at their end before leaving for Hyderabad.
