Ph.D in Economics, Population Studies and Agricultural Economics Admission Notice 2013-2014

Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune has invited applications for admission to Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics, Population Studies and Agricultural Economics.

Eligibility conditions to Apply:

A candidate with a Master’s Degree in Economics, Population Studies, and Agricultural Economics with at least 55 percent marks (50 percent for SC/ST candidates) from a recognized University/Institute is eligible to apply for the Ph.D. programme of the Institute.

Admission:

Entrance Examination: Admission to the Ph.D. programme of the Institute will be through an Entrance Examination conducted two times in a year (January and July) at the Institute. However, candidates qualified for UGC (JRF) Examination need not appear for the Entrance Examination.

Interview:

The candidates qualified through an Entrance Examination marks will be called for the interview to present/discuss their research proposal/area/interest. However, candidates qualified for UGC (JRF) Examination will be directly called for the interview (without entrance examination) to present/discuss their research proposal/area/interest. The research proposal shall contain the following: research problem, review of literature, conceptual framework, methodology, data sources, selected relevant references etc.

Candidates desirous of seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme should submit their application on or before Friday, November 30, 2012.

The Entrance Examination for admission to the Ph.D. programme will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2013.

List of the candidates with seat numbers for examination will be displayed on the website on Monday, December 17, 2012.

The result of the Entrance Examination will be declared tentatively on Monday, January 21, 2013.
